Ordered the large bowl. In hindsight, the regular would have been plenty. Really fresh ingredients. Fast service. Communal style seating available as well as individual tables. The usual set up for poké places, one person takes the base order, the next person the nemo, the next the topping, the next the dressing. I got spicy tuna, shrimp, and albacore. Avocados and crab meat were extra. I forgot to get the avocado at the end. No musubi on the menu. I am on the eternal hunt for good musubi. Tip: Check in on Unilocal and get a free soda. Parking: There is a structure that offers the first 90 min of parking for free on S De Lacey St, park there and it’s a quick walk here.

I can’t stop eating my salad!!! It is so delicious! Omg!!! I will be coming here weekly now! So sad that I’m just now trying this place out! I’ve been in Pasadena over 8 months! Wahhhh!!! The salad is just so perfect! I’m ready to attack my salad and I’m looking at it like where do I start?! And do I end this salad?! LOL this is by far one of the BEST poke salad I’ve ever had!!!

Poke Salad Bar is my favorite of the poke shops in Pasadena! The setup is similar to Chipotle, where you just walk through and select your base, protein, and toppings. There are a huge variety of proteins/toppings you can choose from, and there are endless combinations you can make. Their portion sizes here are HUGE and you definitely get your money’s worth. The only downside is that because its so popular, it seems to be crowded at all times! You may not be able to find seating.

I am a huge fan of Poke Salad Bar! It might be a little excessive but I say go large or go home(which as of today will run you about $ 14) Their portion sizes are very generous and I always walk away satisfied from the meal. Their fish is always fresh! I’m a creature of habit so I get the same thing every time but it has always been consistently good(ahi tuna, salmon, and spicy tuna). I just wish the location was a bit more convenient as it can get very busy, however there is 90 minute free parking in the nearby lots across the street so it’s doable. I like that you are also able to order online or phone in your order for pick up. There are nice long tables too so you can grab a seat and make new friends or meet up with a group for lunch! I just found out today that they have also added 3 outdoor tables so yay to doggy dates + poke!

Extremely cool concept! Poke lover??? You must check this out. A salad bar with various types of poke, sauces, toppings and ways to be served. It is a 5 step process. Pick your base(rice, salad, chips…), then pick your extras(crabmeat, pineapple, jalapeño…), then your«nemo»(yellowtail, octopus, tuna…), then your sauce(ponzi, wasabi mayo.), lastly your toppings(fried onion, edamame, ginger…). Portions are very generous, fish is fresh and layout is smooth. Can’t decide on which extra or topping you want? You can get it all, no extra charge! The restaurant itself is small, not a lot of seating and very squished so maybe try and go during an off time. Even though we went during a lunch rush the line moves very quickly and smoothly. I had the brown rice&salad, with every extra, yellowtail&spicy tuna, yuzu ponzi sauce and every topping. I really liked it and wish there was one in Vegas!

Poke Salad Bar is my go to poke place in Pasadena. It’s so convenient to the office and quick! Even when there’s a long line, that sucker moves fast. And, the service is always friendly. Most importantly, the food is good. The fish selection is good, sauce/topping combinations are tasty, and there are so many choices. The seaweed salad is also really good and I typically am not a fan of seaweed salad. Typically, I order a small half brown rice/half salad combo with salmon and ahi tuna lightly drizzled with sesame shoyu or yuzu ponzu, light spicy, yes to crabmeat, cucumbers, seaweed salad, and corn, and topped with furikake and fried onion bits. Yum. They recently added the option of a poke burrito — so of course I had to try it. You can get your poke inside a wheat tortilla, sheet of nori(seaweed), or soy paper. I chose nori and thoroughly enjoyed the extra flavor it provided to my poke experience. With the poke burrito, you get to choose your rice and toppings. The rice is smushed thinly over the sheet of nori and the toppings(including crabmeat and seaweed salad) are all mixed up with the sauce you choose to go inside the burrito. They have to wrap the burrito in a paper or it would not stay together. I can see this getting messy, but my solution to that is to scarf down the whole thing without giving it a chance to fall apart. They have two rooms with seating that fill up during peak hours. Prices are in line with most poke places. Park in a structure in Old Town or get lucky with meters on the street, glad I can just walk here.

Delicious poke, though portions could be a bit larger. The poke tastes quite fresh, and doesn’t leave a lingering ass-y taste like some other places. Wish they had a few more choices of toppings and sauces though. Horrendous setup inside the restaurant. You’ll basically be squeezing by a few small and awkwardly placed tables to start ordering, and chances are you’ll have to tuck in your arms just to avoid elbowing some other diner in the back of the head. Once you order, you’ll realize you have nowhere to sit, so you may end up sharing a table awkwardly with strangers. I guess the few tables next to the registers are«community tables»? It doesn’t work in such a tiny space.

Unilocal100CHALLENGEREVIEW— 24⁄100 I have been seeing pictures of this place on Instagram nonstop. My husband and I were finally in the area and decided to finally try it. The place is compact but cozy. They do a cafeteria like style where you pretty much just tell them what you want. Very effective. Got the poke bowl with scallops and tuna. Amazingly delicious. My daughter who is picky, but she loved it. Definitely adding this to my Little Unilocalers list. *Little Unilocalers: For parents who have large strollers, I think you guys should be alright. Depending if it’s crowded or not. I wish they added seating outside for this very reason. Overall, great atmosphere and good costumer service.

The medium Poké bowl was a lot of food! It came with three scoops of fish so I chose 2 salmon and 1 yellowtail. I swear they put pieces of white fish that weren’t yellowtail though. Several of the pieces tasted and felt different… The seaweed salad and the fake crab was yummy with the bowl. Overall it’s good!

I’m a huge fan of poke bowls, especially customizable ones, so obviously I would love Poke Salad Bar. The price is is a bit higher than Pokinometry in Anaheim, but the size makes up for it. Their small would probably be the equivalent of Pokinometry’s medium. I’m pretty sure 2 people could share a small or medium, depending on how hungry they are. Like other customizable poke bowl places, it works sort of like a Subway or Chipotle, but with poke. You choose either white rice, brown rice, salad, or roll(like a sushi burrito). And then you choose your fish, toppings, and sauce. I ended up getting a small bowl, half white and half brown rice. With a small, you get 2 fish choices and I chose salmon and ahi tuna. I really like that they have pineapple and corn as a topping here. They also have crispy fried onions! It added really nice texture. For sauce, I noticed they had quite a variety: chipotle mayo, ponzu, eel sauce, sesame shoyu, and wasabi mayo. I ended up with the eel sauce and chipotle mayo, but honestly you can’t go wrong with any combination. You can also choose your spiciness level which is nice. Overall, really satisfied with my meal here, but I’ll be sure to share a bowl with a friend instead of trying to finish on my own. I was super stuffed after.

And I HAD to go with the large, because the more seafood options the better! My creation: Brown rice, salad, ahi tuna, salmon, scallop, albacore, crabmeat, cucumbers, onions, seaweed, chipotle mayo, sesame shoyu, not spicy, masago, green onions, fried onions, dried seaweed and edamame. Although the ahi tuna did taste a tiny bit frozen, everything was absolutely delicious! I also loved how they give you a big ball size of crab meat and also a side of seaweed salad. I would eat this every week if I lived near here. Lol. And they give you so many toppings! Overall, I highly recommend it. BUT beaware that the restaurant is really tiny, and is crowded on the weekends, so there might not be a spot to sit down, so either you will have to stalk people until they leave to grab a table or take it to go ! First and only poke place I’ve tried. It’s good. The fish is fresh and very yummy. The service however can improve greatly. Every time I order something, they always forget an item. It’s like the people that work behind the counter don’t wanna listen or pay attention. And the Unilocal check in offer for free miso soup — that’s not even on the menu…

I always enjoy my experience here! They have plenty of indoors seating and service was quick! I usually get the yellowtail, salmon, and shrimp with salad & brown rice. It’s a huge portion for a medium bowl. The salad had a nice mix of greens and the rice was cooked well. I love their wide variety of ingredients and they were not cheap about it! Don’t forget to add the pineapple! I think the best part is definitely the sauce. My favorite is mixing the wasabi mayo, chipotle mayo, and citrus ponzu. Hurray for poké!

This is a pretty standard poké bar(it’s getting harder and harder to judge differences esp in LA). HIGHLIGHTS: + pretty big portions! The small size(bowl w/2 fish scoops) will probably satisfy most appetites. + gave a lot of fish per scoop + Had edamame beans and crispy onion as topping choices(don’t see that in most poké places) + Yuzu Ponzu sauce was very refreshing and light + Free miso soup w/check in! MEH/DIDN’T LIKE: ~ Not much taste in the fish so I’m not convinced that it was at its freshest point(we came at 2pm on a Saturday). Even with a lint ponzu sauce I couldn’t really taste the salmon which is easiest to taste for me. — Fish pieces were a little big — was kind of awkward to bite off — imitation crab meat was still semi frozen and stiff… There was nothing out of the ordinary in terms of setting or food here, but if you’re craving Poké and you’re in the area I’d recommend checking this place out!

I came here with a friend for the first time last night and absolutely loved it!!! It’s definitely my number one poke spot now. The workers were very friendly and made conversation. What caught my eye were the variety of fish. Not only do they have the basic salmon and tuna, but also yellowtail, octopus, spicy tuna, and albacore. I’m a very hard judge about spicy tuna because I’ve gone to a few poke places where their spicy tuna was not up to par. However, this spot’s spicy tuna was great! I ordered a small bowl(2 scoops) with brown rice, cucumbers, crab meat, corn, seaweed salad, albacore, spicy tuna, edamame, furikake flakes, and chipotle mayo sauce. The guy who made my bowl said only the crab meat was an extra dollar so I got an extra serving of seaweed salad. ~~~~~~~~ Now, let’s fast forward to today. It was so good I had to come back. The workers this afternoon were definitely not as friendly, but it was fine. Once again, I wanted an extra serving of seaweed salad. The girl said it was an extra dollar. On the sign, it clearly says that the crab meat is extra. So I brought that up, but she cut me off and repeated herself two more times as if I didn’t hear her the first time. Over her. So I moved on. I don’t mind if the seaweed salad is an extra dollar, but the workers need to know their pricing. Not sure if it is an extra charge now or not. Maybe they changed it in the past 24 hours. But really, being a little nicer won’t hurt :)

The parking in Pasadena is horrible, and that’s the only thing that really deters me from this place, but other than that, this is the best poke place I’ve been to. Through the year, I’ve been trying out every poke place within driving distance to me, and this became about the 8th poke place I’ve tried. It was better than the previous 7 places I’ve visited because of just how fresh the fish was and how much fish they give you. You get a really good deal with your bowl, and there are more scoops of fish than rice, and after finishing all the rice, I was left with a lot of fish. It gets crowded around lunch time, but I think this poke is worth the wait anyways.

Great poke spot! A good amount of food for your money. Their wasabi mayo sauce is awesome(try it!) and the shoyu sesame sauce is pretty good too. If you’re feeling adventurous, try and mix the two sauces up. Actually, that’s not really that adventurous, but hey, just go for it. Also, you can get half salad and half rice if you ask in the beginning. Think it’s best to do that to mix things up with veggies and carbs. They have a decent amount of seating inside as long as it’s not too crazy, and their fish tastes pretty fresh. You pay by how many scoops of fish you get: 2(small), 3(medium), and 4(large). Honestly the small seemed just as big as the medium, and it actually felt like it weighed more than the medium we got. But then again, I didn’t add all the extras with the medium and we got all the extras on the small. The portions are pretty sizable, and it’s definitely enough to fill you up even when you’re pretty damn hungry. I like the poke here because it’s clean, fast, and well made. I live in Alhambra so it’s not that far of a drive, and it looks a lot better than the poke places in Alhambra. Happy eating you all!

What a great poke place! I think you get a better value here in comparison to Spinfish, which is very close by. We absolutely love trying different combinations. Here’s how it works: 1) Choose the base and size: choose from white rice, brown rice, salad, chips or roll. In a small you get 2 scoops, in a medium you get 3 scoops, in a large you get 4 scoops. I haven’t seen many people get a rolle, but you can also mix it up; for example, I have gotten half white rice, half salad. 2) Choose your toppings: choose from crabmeat, cucumbers, onions, seaweed, pineapples or EVERYTHING, because why not! :P 3) Choose your nemo: choose from ahi tuna, spicy tuna, salmon, yellowtail, scallop, albacore, octopus, and shrimp. In a small you get 2 scoops, in a medium you get 3 scoops, in a large you get 4 scoops 4) Choose your sauce: choose from chipotle mayo, yuzu ponzu, sesame shoyu, wasabi mayo. You can mix as many sauces as you like, and from there you can also let the staff know how spicy you want it: not spicy, mild, spicy 5) Choose your toppings: masago, crispy onion, green onions, ginger, wasabi, sesame seed, or EVERYTHING, because you deserve it! :D Great experience every time. You can also get a miso bowl upon Unilocal check-in, even though they just put hot water into an instant miso soup packet for you haha. The«nemo“s are fresh and I can tell from how quickly the containers empty out that salmon is the most popular one! Try this place out. It is comparable to Pokinometry, and I love both very much but would definitely come to Poke Salad Bar because of its convenient location between the Paseo and Old Town Pasadena.

I meant to go to Spinfish and I didn’t even realize that I *didn’t* go to Spinfish until I saw the Unilocal reviews.(I guess I was that tired when my map deposited me on Colorado, but it is really not fair when two poke places are literally sitting on top of each other. Fyi, this one is street side and the other one is in the alley.) Well, my first hint that this was not Spinfish was the fact that there were no pre-made bowls on the menu, You have to go through the choose-your-own-adventure line and pick your base, fish, and toppings. I got salmon over lettuce with the house sauce. The sauce was tangy and a little sweet, like a vinaigrette. I got all the toppings on top and skipped the crab meat. Pretty good salad, and the fish tasted fresh. Tasty. I would come again.

I think I’ve been here about 3 times now. In my book, that’s a good sign cuz I’m very loyal when I find good, reliable eats. Ordering is simple once you get the hang of it. The fish is fresh, the fixins are tasty and they certainly don’t skimp on anything. My set-up is generally the same and I recommend getting the small if you’re eating solo. I got the medium(3 scoops) for myself once and struggled to finish it. So … back to the small(2 scoops). Base: Half brown rice and half salad. love that they have these options to keep it healthy. Or at least make me feel like I’m being healthy. Fixins — ALLOFTHEM! except pineapple and jalapeño. Fish — scoop of salmon, scoop of albacore Toppings — ALLOFTHEM! love love love the furikake seasoning! sauce — ponzu and sesame. the chipotle mayo is not for the faint of heart people. on top of getting the medium, that i could barely finish, i got the chipotle mayo on it and was wiping my eyes the whole time. Service — Great! Efficient & friendly servers and the place is kept clean. And! you can sit inside to eat and people watch Colorado Blvd. For the old town old timers, this is where Penny Lane used to be…

Possibly one of the freshest and flavorful poke bowls I have tried to date(PokiNometry in Anaheim, Simply Bowl in Berkeley, and Pacific Catch — a chain in the bay area). I ordered a large bowl(a light meal for two once paired with free soup at $ 12) with four scoops of fish(salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and spicy tuna), white rice, crab meat, seaweed, sauce w/half yuzu ponzu/half sesame shoyu, spicy, and all the toppings. There doesn’t seem to be limitations on the sides except for avocado which is a dollar extra. Check in for a free bowl of miso soup. I love how the fish(salmon, tuna, yellowtail) comes in large 1in x 1in chunks and are seasoned just before serving. Normally I’d be wary with such large pieces of fish but it was easy to chew with very clean flavors. One of the employees had suggested mixing the yuzu and sesame sauces which was a great call since the citrus added acidity without being overwhelming. Finally, my sister’s favorite part was the crunchy fried onion(part of the ‘all the toppings’) which was a great textural element alongside the slightly firm fish and the creamy avocado. Parking: Free first 90 minutes parking at the green street public parking structure located on Green St. between Fair Oaks and Raymond.

Poke is easily becoming one of the trendiest food for 2016, and it’s no surprise that California would be one of the first states to hop on this food trend. Poke Salad Bar is a fast casual restaurant mainly serving poke ‘Chipotle-style’, so you get to choose your rice, ‘nemo’(or seafood), other toppings and sauce. With many toppings and add-ons, the combinations are endless. For those who don’t like raw fish, there is also cooked fish like octopus and shrimp. And for dessert, you can get macaron ice cream sandwiches(!!), which — unfortunately — I did not get to try. All in all, great size options, fresh ingredients and many add-ons make PSB a no-brainer. Lastly, don’t forget to check in to get your free miso soup!

Cute little poke bar. I’ve never seen a poke bar that adds corn, pineapple and edamame beans. Pretty decent size. My boyfriend and I shared a medium. Our creation consisted of white rice, crab meat, cucumbers, onions, and seaweed. The fish we got was salmon, octopus and spicy tuna. I personally didn’t enjoy the spicy tuna. To top of off we added masago, crispy onions, green onions, ginger, wasabi and sesame seeds. All of this mixed with their medium chipotle mayo. I recommend getting ponzu and wasabi mayo on the side for extra dipping.

My absolute favorite favorite favorite poke place! My bf and I constantly come here bc it’s really good and we both have tried our share of poke. I love getting the half chips and half rice because I can interchange between the consistencies that I wanna eat my poke with. The sauces are bomb and I always get the chipotle mayo as well as the sesame shoyu. They don’t cheap out on the poke either. Also there’s always a check in offer yay. I love how my rice will always be soaked in sauce because a major complaint for me is that other poke places end up with super dry rice and it tastes weird. My only complaint is that the cashier always looks like they hate their life and it would be nice if they would smile like the other workers lol. Will always be back!

I’ve been to a couple of poke places in LA and also in Honolulu. This one is goood in terms of taste and value. I’ve only gotten the medium half rice half salad with a combo of scallops, salmon, ahi tuna, and yellowtail. They’re generous with their scoops of all things(incl the fish). If I am craving poke(which is often), I’ll pick PSB over any other place. Service is generally pretty good but there have been times where I’ve seen one person busting their ass with a pursed lip while the other people just stand around and not help.

I dropped into the Poke Salad Bar on whim while wandering through Old Town Pasadena. It’s nondescript but absolutely fantastic. It’s a simple arrangement(essentially a Chipotle-styled poke shop), but the product is top-notch quality. I assembled a massive poke bowl with brown rice, ahi tuna, salmon, with all the trimmings(seaweed, cucumber, crab, spicy aioli, wasabi… and I can’t even remember what else). It was a large bowl, so I had two scoops of each type of fish. The poke bowl was absolutely perfect. The serving was generous(but not excessive), and the fish was fresh and vibrant. Every bite was a little different from the previous, as different combinations of spice and texture were distributed throughout the bowl. Service is friendly and upbeat. Even though Poke Salad Bar serves their wares counter-style, the staff still drops by to see how you’re doing. All in all, I think Poke Salad Bar deserves 5 deliciously fishy stars! I’d come back in a heartbeat.

I always come here whenever I am in the neighborhood. It is the Poke version of Chipotle. You can create your bowl however you want! The set up of the restaurant is really cute, they have a lot of various succulent plants on the tables, so you can definitely take a picture of your poke bowl with them after! Not only is the fish extra fresh but the portions they give are huge. I always order the Medium Bowl, in which you can select 3 types of fish, your choice of either a salad, white rice or brown rice for $ 10.50. I always go with spicy tuna, salmon, and ahi tuna on top of brown rice. Writing this review is already making me wish I was there devouring my bowl right now. After you select your base and fishes, you can start adding whatever you like. At the end you get to choose a sauce you would like, I believe the Yuzu Ponzu and the Chipotle Mayo are the two popular sauces at PSB. If you are ever in the neighborhood, definitely give Poke Salad Bar a try! It could be your new favorite sushi spot!

Healthy lunch on Colorado Blvd. THEAMBIANCE: Poke Salad Bar is a medium-sized venue. The décor is nice, which is expected on Colorado Blvd., and I liked the setup of their poke bar. What was«eh» was the customer service. There wasn’t much interaction other than serving your food and cashing you out. I liked the ambiance of Poke Bar in Eagle Rock better, as small as the place is. There are small and large tables. Indoor seating. THEFOOD: The fish and ingredients were fresh. I liked their crab here better than Poke Bar. It had a softer texture. In terms of freshness I would give it to Poke Salad Bar. I didn’t notice any excess liquid in the bins. THETIPS: Park in a parking structure a block down. Free for ninety(90) minutes. I am still looking for a «wow factor» poke bar.

I’m a big fan of poke bars, especially this one. =) I used to get my sushi fix down in Redondo Beach(or HI haha) but this is a much closer option! Love the generous portions, hubby and I usually share a medium because the portions are so large. =) We get it half salad and half rice and top it w/our fav fish and all the fixings(including seaweed salad, wasabi, crabmeat…). The prices are really good too(like $ 11ish for the medium) I like the Chiptole style of food service — so choosing my own ingredients is always fun. We always come back when we are in the area and it hasn’t let us down. =) Free miso soup w/check in! They also sell ice cream macarons here but I have never tried.

Wow! I’m a fan of this poke craze that’s picked up all over LA. Poke Salad Bar is a welcome addition to the neighborhood and I wish it was around when I use to work really close by. It works similar to ordering at chipotle, ordering your base, fish, toppings, and sauce as you move down the line. I ordered the small and couldn’t finish my meal. Pro tip: ordering small with the half and half base(rice and salad) gets you significantly more than ordering a regular small with a single base. It was fresh and pretty healthy! Of course the fish options are more the standard choices of sashimi as they cater to the masses – tuna, salmon, yellowtail, etc. But still! Ordering a specialty roll at nearby sushi restaurants will already run you about $ 10, while you can get a filling meal at PSB for the same price. Looking forward to coming back for more!

4.6 stars for PSB! My family and I were debating between this and Spin Fish. In the end, the tie-breaker was that PSB had more seating so we decided to go here. The atmosphere here is nice: brightly-lit, spacious and decorated with succulent centerpieces. The servers are also friendly and approachable. Menu is simple enough. Pick the size you want, which determines how many types of scoops of fish you can get. Pick the stuff you want under each category and you’re good to go! I love poke and highly recommend PSB!

And unlike Spinfish Poke House, they have a good amount of tables INDOORS. :) What I Ordered — Medium(3 scoops of fish) Salad with Salmon and Yellowtail with Yuzu Ponzu and Wasabi Mayo Man was it spicy! I should not have mixed in the wasabi they gave you on the side. on top of my wasabi mayo sauce. X. x Killer nose burn haha. I still devoured it though! Crab, seaweed and masago was no extra charge. PSB is the bob dot com!!! Quite impressed with their décor, environment, organization, staff, and most importantly – FOOD! Overall experience is a 5⁄5 stars! Perfect for a healthy lunch, or light lunch on a hot Cali day right before you do some major retail therapy at Sephora and Zara nearby. There’s a good amount of seating inside and nice, cool and clean. Feels like you’re eating outdoors, almost, without the hot sun beating down on you. I really like and appreciate the ease of ordering and the friendly staff is a plus~! As soon as you walk in there’s a menu above which will tell you the steps(easy 1 – 4). The medium size is a LOT and I couldn’t finish even though I came in starving! I like that their options aren’t an extra charge and that they’re all inclusive. I usually like a lot and I hate going to places that charge me $ 1 for each«topping» because mine would come out to be way too much! TIP: CHECKINFOR A FREEDRINK! The food on its own is amazing and 5⁄5 stars! Nice generous portions and fresh tasting fish w/choice of different sauces. So so so yummy! I wish there was one closer to where I live!!! Definitely my go-to place for lunch when I’m in Pasadena. Highly recommend~!
