I love Unilocal because it helps you find gems like Connal’s. This place is ultra divey but the food is amazing. It was so great we went back the next day. They have lots of variety — breakfast, sandwiches, burgers, burritos, salads, etc. I highly recommend the turkey BLT club. Make sure to bring cash; they don’t take cards.

I grew up eating at this place. It was also a place to hang out with my friends and act like losers at the time. There’s still a lot of losers that hang out in the back sometimes and it’s going to lose a star for that. Otherwise a decently run shop that puts out good food.

The burgers here are mine and my family’s favorite. We’re from Phoenix, Arizona and every single time that we visit Pasadena, we make it a priority to stop at least once. The employees are always very friendly and kind. Absolutely love it here.

Very similar to Lucky Boy. I got the Combo Grinder and it was dirt cheap! It was piled with turkey, ham, and salami. The service was extremely fast and food was flying out. Definitely recommend!

Okay. Review update. Figured it out. Sandwiches. Get sandwiches, not burgers. That should have been obvious, I guess, but I only recently discovered the amazing truth. Yum. Generous portions(for the price, though Pasadena Sandwich Company still has larger sandwiches), delicious flavors. Wish the food was prepared a bit faster though. Always seems to take forevvvvvvvvvverrrrrrrr…

Great place to spend celebrating National Sandwich Day, oh yea we did! :) Get the Combo Grinder! It’s delish. I’ve been to Connal’s twice now and they don’t disappoint. Super simple, fun little spot to grab a sammie. They are huge! I can’t finish one at once, so it’s great for sharing or taking the other half to have the next day. I don’t care much for the fries, they have a distinct flavor that just doesn’t win me over — may be the seasoning they use, potatoes or cooking oil they are fried in but definitely not my favorite ever. They are fine to have in addition to your grinder but also almost worth skipping. Indoor and outdoor seating, and a large private parking lot. CASHONLY

Great fan of the Quesadilla. Always very good, fresh, quick delivery. Great pit stop when travelling through Pasadena. Prices are affordable. Simple tables with little space in between them. Food quality very good.

Connals is a Pasadena staple like Lucky Boys or Tops. What makes Connals stand out is their variety and service. I’ve been coming to this restaurant for 15 years and have never been disappointed. My go to is the classic double combo, a steal at 5.99. You get a double cheese burger, a large serving of well seasoned fries and a large drink. It’s enough food for 2 people. Also try their gyro or their breakfast burrito, which are both huge!

Classic sidewalk sandwich shop dive. Order at a window on the street, pick up inside where there are a few tables crammed together or outside(there are some tables around back under a cover for shade.) I had the Turkey BLT club on wheat. The bread was toasted to perfection, the bacon was nice and crispy, there was the right amount of Turkey and the right amount of dressing without having to ask for it. Oh sure, it was a bit greasy, but that’s what you go for right? :-)

I have to update my review; customer service has hit the lowest level here. I will throw in the towel now and not come back until I see a sign on the building that says we’ve changed our customer service. And we like and appreciate all customers. Either that or that the place is under new ownership

Okay ya’ll…they must’ve heard me. They have been much better with their customer service! And like I said, they have great food, so give them a try, they’re worth the 5 stars! New favorite, the # 6, Mushroom Burger Combo, with the greatest fries on the west coast(order a side of Ranch) and a Root Beer Float! :) Keep the customers happy and you guys will never have a slow night, because your food speaks for itself!

The Southwest salad is good but every time I use their dressing it taste spoiled. I have tried honey mustard, southwest dressing and their homemade Thousand. Come on Connal’s.

Connals used to be my favorite place to get shakes, and good default place when you don’t have any idea where to eat for lunch. Unfortunately, my experience with them up until a few months ago became horrible, due to the worst customer service I have ever experienced. So, I had just received my order and was going to sit down until I dropped my soda. Knowing how busy the staff was, and being in customer service myself, I automatically cleaned up the mess. When I explained to the man in charge that I cleaned the spill for them, his first reaction was that he wanted me to pay for a new drink. I didn’t mind paying for my own drink, but I didn’t like the way he was treating me, for I was doing them a favor by cleaning up the mess. The worst part of this mistreatment was that he didn’t believe me and started asking the customers that was eating if I was telling the truth. I never felt so criminalized in my life, especially over spilled soda. I give them a 1-star for bad customer service and for publically trying to shame me.

Not exactly the all-American classic local joint I was expecting, but they sure do make one satisfying sub. We were looking for a good sandwich spot after hiking in a nearby area, and were intrigued by the positive reviews and their reputation as a Pasadena mainstay since 1958. Expecting to get a bit of local flavor along with our meal, I was a little disappointed to find a rather small and cramped space, decorated in a cheesy faux 50’s throwback, that almost makes Ruby’s look authentic. The menu wasn’t any more classic, offering a large mix of everything from burritos and taquito plates to burgers, grinders and shakes. I’m guessing the menu has expanded just a bit since the 50’s. We ended up ordering a turkey avocado grinder and a philly cheese steak sandwich from the less than friendly cashier. The cheese steak was pretty mundane, with the meat, cheese and bread all being equally uneventful. I hardly remember how it tasted. But the turkey avocado grinder was quite delicious. There was a generous serving of fresh turkey and veggies on a nicely textured bread, that was dusted with just the right amount of italian dressing. I wouldn’t say it was impressively good, but it was refreshing and satisfying at the same time. So even though the menu and staff here resembles more of a generic fast food café than a classic local favorite, the sandwiches are pretty good in their own right. And since that’s what we came here for, I can say that I was pretty satisfied. But don’t expect too much from this place just because it’s been around forever. Because with the amount of competition and innovation that’s going on in the sandwich game right now, history can only take you so far.

We ordered the tuna melt, and patty melt. Both really good. A bit greasy and I get it. My problem was, they messed up our order. We both wanted sourdough bread. Hubby got rye bread. The tables were all dirty… I understand that people eat on them, and they don’t clean up after themselves. I get that too… But, it would be nice if someone would come out and clean up the tables every hour or so.

Love their food, most of it. Couple of bad experiences. Over priced. The one thing is the lady with the glasses needs to go !!! Olga is her name. She is rude. No customer service skills at all. I eat here almost every weekday. Everybody else is great and even the owners. They would get a 4 star without her

Want a nice two inch glob of plain tasteless roast beef dip meat on dried up bread? Dippy sauce didn’t help that mess either. But that wasn’t what I had ordered. I ordered a cold roast beef sandwich. Did I say dip? Took it back and waited while they just stood around talking and ignoring me. Then they asked me how I want it prepared. The way you normally cook it except without the tomato. Uuuuh, last I heard is that you guys are the chefs. So they gave me a plain dried up bun with a cold two inch high stack of tasteless horrible cold beef on dried hard bread. No mustard, no lettuce, no mayo, no onions. Nothing!!! I ate almost half and took the rest for my mom. She didn’t like it either. Tossed it in the trash. So small inside and the noise level is very loud if more then six people are talking. Thank goodness that party of four left, now we could hear ourselves talk. Of course you could sit outside on the patio. But first you have to order your food, then go sit behind the building on the patio. What? You thought that the patio was something spectacular. Just old tables and chairs with a view of the parking lot and dumpster. \ Inside are a few 50’s signs, nothing spectacular. The tables wern’t clean. Perhaps it was the little rush that they had, but with all those people there and the place being so tiny, it could have taken a mere five minutes or less to clean this place.

This is some classic American eating, Pasadenians. Everyone has different opinions; but they’re mostly wrong. Connal’s has the BEST Pastrami in California. This is a classic burger joint with a thorough and delicious menu(pastrami on burgers). Price range is fair for what you get: A heaping helping of amazingly tasty, mastadonically meaty, catastrophically cheesy goodness. About $ 10 grants you a Pastrami Combo(fries/drink) that comes split for easy sharing. The french loaf was freshly baked and flaky to the touch. Juicy stacks of salty carved meat, piled high with pickles n mustard. Ohh yea, you know what I’m talking about. It’s like smooth jazz for your tastebuds. Call me biased. Call me one-sided. Call me… maybe? Not much else to say. If you’re thinking of eating here; you have thought correctly.
