I want to start by saying the food is usually pretty good and is a good price. However after today we won’t be returning because of the service. I understand mistakes happen in restaurants all the time because I was once a server myself. The service started out a little rough because she had trouble taking our order. Then she came back and said they were out of diet coke even though I’m sure the machine just needed to be changed. After that waitress only brought half the silverware with our beans. I maybe even would have be a little more sympathetic with these things if they were busy but we were the only ones there. Finally, when server was passing out plates and dropped the plate before a had a hand on it all over the table and my sister ruining her shirt. Not only did the server appear unapologetic but they still made us pay full price. At the very least she deserved an apology from someone, whether it was from the server or the manager. And on top of that my sisters order was wrong. Very disappointed overall today, won’t be back.

Off the chain quesadillas. I recommend getting the“gringa”, «campechana» or a «pirata».

Me and my girlfriend go here often, but today was the last day. We ordered tacos on flour tortillas and apparantly the waitress charged us $ 3.00 for each taco. We always order this meal with flour tortillas and was never a problem. I brought this to their attention and they told me thats how they charged me. The waitress never checked on us after serving our meal. We normally spend $ 10.00 a piece on the meals and it went up to $ 16.00 a piece. So the bill was $ 47.00. For 2 people. The language barrier was a major problem, the lady did not speak good enough english to explain this from the time we ordered. We will not be going back.

We have been here a few times before, but this time will probably be the last. The food is good but the service is not the greatest especially when there is a language barrier. We order the trompo and asked for flour tortillas. The waitress came out to inform us that the tacos would be larger because they are on flour tortillas. We said that was fine, well when it came to paying our ticket was $ 46(for 2 people)!!! The food was good but definitely not $ 46 good. They should have had someone come tell us that they were going to charge us for 5 individual tacos each. We have had the tacos done like this numerous of times, but this is the only time they wanted to charge us for each individual taco. Congratulations Tacos del Julio we will take our business else where.

If you love tacos and have never eaten Monterrey-style Mexican food, you need to try this place! My boyfriend and I come here at least a couple times a month and I’ve also been to a few other of their locations around Houston. Monterrey tacos are hands down my favorite tacos ever – specifically the campechanas! We always order 3 campechanas for me and 2 for my boyfriend. After I introduced him to Monterrey food, he was sold. You can’t go back to regular tacos – and there are very few places in town.(Message me for a recommendation near U of H.) No matter what you order, they always automatically bring out plenty of cilantro, onion and limes. You also get the charro beans and DELICIOUS green sauce which is pretty spicy. The campechanas are their two kinds of meat on grilled flour tortillas with monterrey cheese and fresh avocado. Top them off with all the works(don’t forget green sauce) and you will be in taco heaven. I can never get a picture because these babies disappear off my plate in a hurry! This place is also great because of speed and efficiency. If you’re looking for a quick meal, order your drinks(tacos are also great washed down with an ice cold beer) and campechanas all at once and you’ll be in and out in 30 minutes or less. Pay at the counter. You will also be impressed to know that the Tacos Del Julio chain is not only in Houston, but also in Monterrey, Mexico. The original Houston location is off Westheimer and is frequented by the owner himself. And don’t worry if you don’t speak Spanish, the servers are all bilingual. iProvecho!

Always great service and the food is always great! They let you sit wherever you want and they bring out beans and ask for your order right away. The food comes out fast and they have a variety of authentic Mexican food. I either get the tacos de trompo, tostada regia, or Monterrey 600. They went up on there prices throughout the years but the food hasn’t changed.

This is a place worth coming to for tacos. Only thing was the food wasn’t that hot like I’ve had elsewhere. Service was good. Clean. Mexican music playing.

Been here plenty of times. I don’t know what happened but the food has changed tremendously. It’s not very tasty, the food is bland, which I’m very surprised cause their food is normally«off the chain» but not recently. The waitress was very nice she was very attentive. But good service and bad food is still not a win in my book. What sucks is they didn’t even take my plate off the bill. Which I hardly touched

Enjoyed our lunch here very much. Our server, Carlos was informative and on it. We could tell that he was invested in the restaurant’s success. I have a feeling that the team that owns and creates here is just as invested and just as successful at providing a pleasurable experience. I am a transplant to the area just like so many others that live here and this place made me feel at home. The food, so yummy and uncomplicated warmed every cell in my body on this chilly day. The bean soup hit the spot. They have a seasoned beef that is so delicious, I did not master it’s name however Carlos says it beautifully so ask him. My only disappointment was the coffee. In all fairness, though, I ordered it at an odd time so I’m willing to give it another shot at a more appropriate hour. Highly recommend supporting this local family and their lovely restaurant!

I loved it! They have a small menu. I got bistec tacos with avocado and cheese. It came with 5 tacos. I ate four of them, and 8 hours later, I’m still full. Instead of chips, they bring out little bowls of searing hot bean soup. It’s heavy on the bacon, and it’s delicious. They also bring little bowls of chopped onion, lime, and cilantro. I will be back again soon, and I will order the same thing.

I was really craving tacos today and this really is the only actual taco place in the area. I didn’t know what to expect, but here is what I found: Food: This place is definitely more mex-mex than tex-mex. And my tacos were really yummy. I had the Wednesday special which included 1 fajita taco on flour with cheese, 2 bistec tacos and 2 fajita meat tacos all on corn. The meat was really flavorful and tender. Also, they serve the table with salsas, beans, onions, lime and cilantro(plus we asked for sour cream, but I maybe wish I would have asked for some extra cheese too). I was craving tacos so that’s all I really looked for on the menu, but I do know they at least also have quesadillas, tortas, flautas, tostados, enchiladas, dessert options and more! Atmosphere: A comfortable, clean and colorful place! They have tons of different size tables and we were able to seat ourselves. Service: Our server was very sweet! I could tell she was trying to find the right balance between being at our table too much or too little and she didn’t always nail it, but she tried so I appreciate that! The manager was also very friendly which I always appreciate. The servers definitely speak both English and Spanish. You pay up front normally, but our server allowed us to pay at the table and split the check — love it! Value/Prices: Great! I ordered the Wednesday special and the value was exceptional. I got 5 good size, yummy tacos plus a soft drink for just 6 bucks! Overall: Four stars! A great Mexican food experience that I am so glad I now know about. I’ll definitely be back and have already recommended it to my parents.

Luckily I only came for tacos because they dont have much in the way of variety. Unfortunately these tacos were too greasy for my taste. Tacos across the street are much better and they serve chips and salsa unlike this place.

Very good food at a very affordable price. The biggest difference was the queso fresco, which made the tacos and enchiladas excellent. Also the service was beyond gracious, my dad complained the beer was too small so they gave him one free of charge, who does that? I went on Mother’s Day, there was karaōke and balloons, a very enjoyable experience.

Good. Must try. Mix between Tex Mex and authentic. Green sauce is very spicy.
