Pasco Farmers Market

I love the Pasco farmers market! They have such a good selection of different fruits and veggies with lots of organic options! Everything is coming in locally and it feels great to be able to support our local farmers. Lots of venders have samples available and everyone is very helpful and willing to answer your questions about their products. My kids love coming here and getting honey sticks made with local honey, and being able to pick out their own favorite fruits.
The only issue I have with the farmers market is the parking. It is obviously a very popular place because it’s often hard to find a place to park. I’m still giving this place 5 stars because I don’t think it’s fair to fault the farmers and their produce over something they don’t have any control over. Also, the earlier your there the easier to find a spot.

I’m in love and need to move now. All the vendors were amazing and helpful. Most allow you to try their fruits an veggies before you buy.

Okay!!! This place is Freaking amazing!!! I go here almost every Saturday, whenever I am in town. I am from a city where local produce is just not very accessible. So when I saw… Just picked this morning this… or last night that… Iwas like WHAT??? Yes!!! I do try to do all my grocery shopping here when and if I can:)
I always walk around the entire market to see every vendor. Prices are usually all the same but I like seeing who has what and I do try to get organic when I can. After i get all that i need. i swing by the taco stand for some tacos (OMG!!! This town has some ridiculous tacos… I feel like I have been missing in life!!!) and a coffee from a lady that has an espresso machine right next door.
It’s really small though… when I checked their website I expected a ginormous farmers market but… You know what? They have everything that I am wanting to buy so… Not complaining. And the guys that operate the market are so nice… Met them once and they were so helpful.
I definitely try to take advantage of this place when they are open to get some good local fresh produce. Besides I like helping the local community rather than large corporate… So it makes me feel good at the same time.

I have to admit that I haven’t been to this farmers market as much as I’ve been to the one in Richland, but I do like it just as much. Lots of great items with a lot of temptation. If you go… plan to leave with SOMETHING. It’s just about impossible to walk through one of these markets and not take something home with you. =)

They claim to be one of the largest in Washington state, which I find hard to believe, but I was there on a chilly (ahem 68º) Saturday morning. I like it small though, one doesn’t get lost and there is a small town feel to it.
I love all the samples and the variety of vendors. I came away with a fresh bunch of asparagus and a spring in my step.

A not to miss market! The variety and freshness is incredible, the people are friendly and the atmosphere is electric!

The prices, the selection, the ambiance, I can’t decide what I like most. But I love going to the Pasco Farmer’s Market.
First, I wanna get all you city slickers wise on one thing. Since this is a fresh only and not a cold storage market, the beginning of the season is NOT going to have as many offerings as mid and late summer. Some things just take longer to grow. If you had spent any time getting your own fingers dirty growing your own, you would know this. (Sorry, but I guess not everyone is as lucky as me to have grown up on an apple orchard and got a first hand education in various produce growing times. Anyway…)
I just love coming here. Not just because the prices and the freshness. I love talking with the vendors. I have gotten some great suggestions on my «award winning» chili from these guys, and it is just fun to talk veggies with the people who grow them. You are not gonna get that at your supermarket. Ever.
I also love that downtown Pasco has gotten revitalized from the Farmer’s Market activity. There are great shops and restaurants that most folks (especially us gringos) would not even know about because it is in Pasco. It is sad because just about every place I have shopped in Pasco is very happy to have my business. Would love to see that in more places in Tri Cities.

Now at its peak attendance in the summer, the Pasco Farmer’s Market is exactly what I believe a farmer’s market should be. Not too large, and not over-​crowded with commercial vendors or people selling schlock.
The earlier weeks feature one of the Columbia Basin’s cash crops: asparagus. If you’re not a huge fan, wait a few weeks and as more crops come into season, you’ll be overwhelmed by the vegetation available for purchase.
Even on Saturdays when I don’t need anything, I still like to make a visit just to stroll through the shaded areas, window shop, and smell the delicious scents of the food carts that surround the main shopping area.

I used to think this was a «small» farmers market, but after living in NC for the last year, Pasco’s version is quite a worthy market. When I lived in the Tri-​cities area and if I wasn’t out on some of the beautiful mountain ranges nearby, coming out to the farmers market was a Saturday ritual for me. The long summer daylight hours of the northwest coupled with the fertile volcanic soil of the Columbia River Basin leads to the production of some of the best and most varied produce in the nation, outside of California. This is truly a hidden gem and hands down the best market in the area/​region.
As mentioned by others, this market goes until noon on Saturdays and is also open on Wednesdays. It has a relatively short season — I think it starts in early May and goes until October (check the website for more details). What’s found here is prolly the cheapest I’ve ever seen for produce prices in other farmers markets. I’m crazy about watermelon… and if you are too, you’re in luck. This area and just south (northern Oregon) produces some of the most amazing varietals of watermelons (red, yellow and orange flesh)…and (OMG) are they sweet!!! Besides these, you’ll find just about everything from muscat grapes (grown from local vineyards), Rainier and Bing cherries, sweet Walla Walla onions to Chinese and Asian pear varietals in the fall. They usually host several events to coincide with the market like a salsa fest, a great Cinco de Mayo fest with street meat (mmmm…fajitas, etc), etc. The best thing to do is to plan it to overlap with one of these events so you get the most bang for your buck. The best thing to do, from my perspective? If it’s Salmon season, get some fresh herbs (dill, etc) and a bunch of Walla Walla sweet onions from the market and go right below the 182 overpass (over the Columbia River) near the Richland Marina Park to buy the fresh caught Salmon from the local tribes. (One time I bought a small wild Coho for less than $ 2/​lb in the fall.) Go home, slice up the onions and add the herbs. Bake it. I guarantee that will beat out any $ 30 salmon meal in a restaurant!
And while I mentioned «cheap» before… let me put this in context for you. In 2004, I could get seedless watermelons for a going rate of $ 0.15/lb (I think seeded was $ 0.10/lb). If you happen to be a late morning riser like me, you can actually catch many of the farmers (right before they pack up) and talk to them. They usually want to sell their stuff so they don’t have to haul it back… so you can strike some super sweet deals — eg., huge heads of cauliflower and broccoli for $ 1, or a ginormous 20+ lb watermelon for $ 2??? I’m serious, these things look like they’re on steroids are something.
Overall, great deals to be found, cheap awesome produce, good variety (lots of heirloom stuff), great crowds, and great farmers you can talk to makes me give them a 4.5 star rating. A slight deduction only b/​c it’s not year round. I know I’m prolly being unrealistic… but that’s a super minor gripe and I do realize that it’s really out of their control.

I loved going here. It’s a bi tsmall if youare from Seattle and expecting soemthing. um. larger! But its got all you need. Very fresh healthy fruits and vegies of the season. A littlemusic, a few food vendors, fresh bread and pastries to eat. and that bakery around the cornner…

I love this market! Open Wed. and Sat. mornings…8 to noon (I believe)…location is great too because you can get some fabulous mexican baked goods and tacos too! I’m refering to the infamous Viera’s Bakery and Supermex, but that’s another review, nevermind… anyway…
I haven’t missed many saturday markets… so i can tell you, it started off slow… but now the market is in it’s prime. I also love the covered area it is in. *unlike Richland’s market* So, not as much sweating while getting your fruits and veggies! :)

We’re definitely heading toward the end of the Farmer’s Market run (scheduled for 10/​29, but today it was a windy and cold day). I made it to the market just before noon. Vendors were busy batting down the hatches and keeping their tents from flying into the sky.
With that said, there were only about two rows of vendors (all under the roofed section of the market). It was still alright though. Lots of fresh produce and other goodies. Need to get here earlier in the season though.

To the previous reviewer: you did indeed hit it at the wrong time of year (especially this year, since the weather has been god-​awful). There are usually about 4 rows of vendors (there were today, anyway). My favorite vendor is the organic van, in large part because they bring unusual and heirloom veggies to the mix, including roasted, salted peanuts (keep on salting them – don’t listen to your dad, he doesn’t know what he’s talking about!).
My complaint here is that you can get most anything you want (eggs, meat-​y bits, ostrich feathers, flowers), except cheese. I know there are lots of goats between here and Walla Walla, yet neither this market nor the one in Walla Walla has any goat cheese! Where’s my cheese, people?

The Tri-​Cities Official Visitor Guide touts this farmers market at «the largest open-​air, fresh produce farmer’s market in Washington state». I must have hit this at the wrong time of the year because there were only three tables: honey, herbs, and a vege vendor. Still, you can get your hands on herbs like epazote or lemon thyme, baby bok choy, or sweet potato plants (for 75 cents!).
