We’d first discovered this winery at their original location, and happened upon their new address while exploring the area. This spot is brighter, with a window offering a view of the field and train tracks outside — which, we’re told, will have an outdoor seating area. $ 15 for 5 tastes, waived with the purchase of 2 bottles(all of the bottles are $ 55). We left with their Western Widow.

I happened to notice this was the first Unilocal review for Brian Benson Cellars. So I will try to be as objective as possible in my review. My wife and I enjoy wine tasting in the Paso Robles area as we are locals. We feel Brian is probably one of the top ten winemakers producing Rhone varietals and blends(with some primitivos) in this area. You can tell a great deal of effort goes into the wines he produces, and the vineyards(grapes) he uses for his wine are pretty much all top notch. We have been members there for about three years, and have truly enjoyed his wines. Being a winery that is putting out under a 1000 cases a year, he has done well with limited resources. We feel his wine is fairly priced for the high quality it provides. The one area in which Brian Benson Cellars may be lacking could be in the customer experience in his tasting room. While I have enjoyed talking with him on several occasions, to someone who hasn’t been there before it might not carry the same energy as some of the other larger wineries in the area. In all fairness, we have not been to his new facility in Tin City, and that experience may be more vibrant. That said, we definitely recommend this place if you are looking for experiencing excellent wine at a higher but definitely still reasonable price.
