Delicious wines, very friendly staff and a beautiful property. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Thank you Bevelina!

My favorite California Zinfandel is the Opolo Mountain Zin! And now as a member of this winery, I can say that their Petite Sirah, Grande Rouge, and Tempranillo are superb as well! I don’t know what they do to their grapes and soil, no other local wines we’ve tried taste like these. The tasting room is fabulous, casual and friendly… Meghan is a wonderful sommelier! The one event we’ve attended at the gorgeous vineyard was top notch as well. If all that weren’t great enough — then there’s the amazing drive! While you can get here easily from the 46west, I highly recommend going north when you leave — set GPS to Nacimiento Lake Dr., and be mystified by some gorgeous scenery. Just don’t drink too much before you go!

The restaurant forces a glass of pretty horrible wine on you with each order… we tried two varietals, both were way too sweet… easily the worst wine we tasted in Paso. It’s way-expensive food that’s at best mediocre(a small pizza and greasy sausages with pita). The windy setting’s rather nice by the vineyards and I can’t fault their fine bathroom facilities. Opolo was the only lunch place within miles that was open, but I’d advise those not about to starve to look elsewhere.

Went here last weekend at the recommendation of a friend and winery owner in El Dorado county. Probably our favorite place we visited! The staff was very attentive without being pushy and the wines were awesome! Enjoyed a pizza on the patio as well. We joined the wine club and will be back again for sure!

I really like this place. To be honest, I don’t know the names of the wines we tasted, but they were all very good. Our servers were wonderful. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and very easy to talk to. We tried pretty much every sample they had available for nonmembers. They even let us try the tempranillo, reserved for club members only. Unfortunately, we weren’t allowed to buy it though. My experience was so pleasant here that I will definitely be back and am seriously considering being a club member so I can get bottles of their very fine wine shipped to my house.

The reply was not acceptable. Only winery We have ever seen where they were pre-charging before We could enter. Ridiculous. We have visited on Saturday of zinfest for years and never had this happen. Probably not going back next year. Going to other places instead.

Wow! This place continuous to surprise me. This was our second visit to the winery and both times we were meet with great service with well staffed, professional pourers who were ready to help despite the busy day. This was my first time back in a couple years and they have really made some upgrades which includes an extended covered outdoor patio area, many tables and comfy chairs to lounge on, food menu(which included brick oven $ 20 pizza — sounds expensive but heard people raving about the thin crust, their homemade sausage, cheese/meat plates, etc.). This visit we only did wine tastings and visited their new distillery! Our top picks are the Mountain Zin, Cabernet Sauvignon and the Walnut Liqueur were tasty. The Walnut Liqueur surpluses me and I see it being great for an after dinner drink, mixed into apple pie or drizzled on vanilla bean ice cream! If you are in the area it’s worth the stop to do a tasting or grab a bottle, eat some food and enjoy the beautiful scenery. It’s a bit out of the way but a nice drive up with a few wineries along the way. They also have the Opolo Inn which is about $ 350 a night. We have definitely added this to our vacation list!

I have visited this winery 3 times and it is always a great time. Their Mountain Zinfandel is one of several outstanding wines. What I like is that the staff is super friendly and passionate about their wines. We always seem to spend a lot of time here and walk away with a case being shipped home. Paso is one of my favorite wine areas because of the quality of wine and the passion of the owners and wine makers. Opolo scores big on both these. Their harvest party is on my bucket list.

This was the first winery stop of the day, and I really enjoyed my time here at Opolo. We decided to eat a pizza before we began the tastings. I’m so happy we did because you are paired a glass of wine with whichever meal you choose. Since two of us wanted to split the pizza, we were able to purchase an additional glass of wine for $ 8. The Opolo Montagne Mare was paired with the pizza and it was delicious — think red and full bodied wine. I’m very happy we got to try it then because it wasn’t included in the tastings. The tastings were comprised of quality wines — there was nothing that absolutely blew me out of the water, but I would give all of the wines 3 – 4 out of 5 stars. Great place to go in Paso Robles and easy to hit other wineries close by! Be sure to ask for any complimentary tastings cards for other locations!

We were returning from the coast by car and I read about this winery a few days previously. Located off the 46 highway and a good 15 minutes north — this winery offers lunch alfresco which was a pleasant way to begin our afternoon at Opolo Vineyards. I ordered the Margarita pizza which included a glass of a Opolo red. The pizza and wine paired perfectly on a beautiful day on the patio which overlooked the vineyard. After socializing with couples we met from Pasadena and Huntington Beach we headed inside for some incredible wine tasting. I ended up purchasing three bottles of reds and a bottle of sparking champagne. Our wine server Jackie from San Diego who worked here for only a month was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly which made this wine lasting experience — priceless. Definitely would return here again and recommend Opolo Vineyards.

Great that they have a patio area with tables and chairs so you can have your own little picnic there. We brought our Ruddell’s Smokehouse tuna sandwiches, but it’s great that you can order freshly made pizza there from their brick oven which would go perfectly with your wine tasting. Walk-ins are welcome. Tasting is $ 10, but waived with 2 bottle purchase. We were greeted by a personable friendly lady who ended up growing up in San Jose. She started us off with their sparkling wine, which was one of my favorites that we bought 2 bottles. The tasting consisted of 6 different wines, but the ones I enjoyed were: — 2014 Albarino — 2012 Grand Rouge — 2013 Mountain Zinfandel They have a lot of different whites and reds so you’re bound to find something you like here.

On an otherwise busy Paso Robles wine trip, I initially chose not to visit Opolo due to time constraints. However, since I was ahead of schedule, I decided to stop by. Opolo is located west of Paso Robles in the hills closer to the ocean most likely to take advantage of the better weather. On a sunny Saturday afternoon, the winery was packed. I had to fight to get to the tasting bar. The layout of the winery is a little weird with crazy parking and directions. I would appreciate better signage. Staff was trying hard, but they were obviously rushed and understaffed. The wine was pretty average with not a lot of standouts. I did like the variety of varietals though. Wine is always a subjective experience, but the chaos of Opolo makes it difficult to recommend them. There are just so many better options in the area.

Thanks to Kayla we had the best experience visiting Opolo winery. This winery is a bit off the map from the other Paso Robles wineries but far more enjoyable plus they dont have Kayla. My husband and I only regret the fact that we showed up 2 hours before closing and would’ve loved to spend more time here. I look forward to visiting in the spring and actually staying at the Opolo Inn. Hands down favorite winery in northern and southern California. Wish I were there right now!

Remember in Sideways when Miles and Jack visit the fictional Frass Canyon winery? It’s an obviously successful winery, because their location is massive and well appointed, their tasting room is swarming with people, and there is merchandise galore available for sale with their logo? The problem ends up being, when you taste their wine, if you really enjoy the craft of wine, you wind up being deeply let down. Opolo is Frass Canyon come to life — all style, not much substance. It’s one hell of a drive from the main drag of Paso Robles, but trust your GPS and complete the drive — it’s a typically lovely wine country jaunt, and visiting these grounds is certainly memorable. Their tasting room is huge and open, and along with being one of the recognizable names in the area, I wanted to visit Opolo because I was told in a wine book that their tastings were offered free. This didn’t turn out to be true, but in typical fashion for the area, tasting fee is waived if you purchase a bottle, and they have no problem if two people share a taste. Opolo also suffers from their own success because their pourers are scattered and stretched too thin — I didn’t get our pourer’s name, but she was a younger girl and I felt like I was irritating her. Yet another disappointing winery affliction — sometimes pourers seem to decide that you don’t look ‘money’ enough to truly command their attention, and the average visitor doesn’t get much more than the name of the wine and a measured pour before they step away. While ultimately the quality of the wines should be the largest factor, receiving this kind of treatment from my pourer immediately taints the whole experience. Let’s face it, tasting room workers are employed in high end sales — I would think the winery owners would want their customers treated with a bit more respect. Just because I’m wearing jeans and running shoes doesn’t remotely mean I’ll be a lower spender than the girl down the bar with the spray tan and high heels. Not all of us wear our money — don’t judge. The wines, despite being heavily showered with praise and ribbons, were pretty pedestrian in my opinion. Their claim to fame is their Mountain Zinfandel, and that one did live up to the hype — not as structured and hypnotic as an Amador Zin, but still a nice bottle of wine totally worthy of your dinner table. Their Viognier also passed muster. Their price points were also decent, averaging around $ 30 a bottle which is appreciated. So while I’m glad to have checked Opolo off my list of wineries to visit, I’m not anxious to return. Particularly since you can find their wares in local grocery stores. Trust me, they don’t need any more of my money.

I first visited Opolo in 2008 with my wife and joined their wine club on the same day. We didn’t even intend to, but Opolo has this devilish tactic where they let you taste their fruit-forward wines for a reasonable price then if no one is looking… let you taste the Reserve Zinfandel. . *****!!!BOOM!!!****** My sense of financial morality and reasoning itself,(which has on many occasions, helped decipher right from wrong) ceased to exist. I decidedly don’t need that wine. I WANT that wine.

Our experience here was unlike most others, both in Napa Valley/Sonoma or in Paso Robles. They’re so family oriented and hospitable at Opolo which makes them very unique. Not only is the wine fantastic and cost-friendly, but the staff is phenomenal too. Cynthia was the sweetest! Plus drive to the top and check the view! We will definitely be returning soon. My boyfriend and I stayed at the Inn and tasted at the winery twice. We ended up becoming wine club members and bought a few bottles so our tasting was comped and our purchases were discounted, but regardless, it’s still so affordable. The tasting is only $ 10 per person for at least 6 wines. I say«at least» 6 because 6 is what’s listed, but they’re generous on pours and will let you try/re-try other options not on the tasting menu. I fell in love with the Serenade and Forte Zin(WC for purchase). But also loved the Petit Sirah, Petit Verdot, and Maestro. I’m definitely into darker, more flavorful reds, but if you’re into sweeter wines, I can see why the Mountain Zin gets a lot of good reviews. Also check out the Pinot Gris for those into whites or lighter wines in general, it’s easy to drink and refreshing. Even if you don’t want to walk away with too much, buy a bottle to sip on, maybe a sparkling wine if you want something sweet and bubbly, drive up to the top of the vineyard, and take photos of the gorgeous 360 view. There are benches + soft grass to sit, drink/picnic, and enjoy the scenery. Tl;dr Lovely wine, friendly staff, and breath taking views. Opolo is a «must-go» for tasting in the area.

I think his name was Rafael — and he provided great customer service. The wines were delish also. Loved the mountain Zin and Forte. Thanks for a great experience and they didn’t rush me out even when they already closed!

Grounds are incredible and breathtaking and the tasting was very good. Excellent service both yesterday and today. Had to go back a 2nd time because my clumsy self dropped the bag out of the car and broke both bottles. They were replaced, free of charge! Completely didn’t expect that. Thank you! It’s amazing how far customer service goes! We’re now Wine Club members! Definitely planning a trip back with a stay at the Inn!

I like Opolo’s wines and their Summit Zin is a good go-to $ 12 bottle you can find anywhere. But as Paso tasting rooms go, in the one at Opolo I’ve endured the highest-pressure sales pitches for joining their wine club and/or buying a bottle or two. While enjoying my tastings — and some really good Zins and other varietals I never knew Opolo produced — I felt like I was getting the constant pitch to buy the car plus the underbody rust protection plus the extended warranty. A worthwhile stop in Paso, but be prepared.

The Food Pairing sign got us! We were heading to another winery, but saw the sign and decided to stop here instead. We were needing food in our tummy before wine tasting, so it was serendipitous to stop here. We only had time for one winery stop on our way to Cambria and this one was a perfect choice, especially for my husband who is a pizza freak! It was really a wonderful afternoon for wine tasting. Though it was late November, the temp was in the low 70s and the rows of vines in varying shades of red, orange, and yellow were a stunning sight. Outside the tasting room are large round tables where you can eat pizza, and other food items, and sip your wine. The $ 10 tasting fee gets you five tastings. We tasted all wines on the tasting menu and a couple more off the list. Everything we tasted was good, but the standouts were the Grand Rouge(great blend, very smooth), the 2011 Syrah(ready to drink, aged enough to smooth out the tannins, and the 2012 Zinfandel(delicious). I also tasted the Viognier and the $ 12 Sparkling Wine, which were both off menu. The Viognier was a bit too sweet for my taste. The Sparkling Wine would be perfect for cocktails! Add an ounce of St. Germain and a splash of club soda to it and you have a perfect cocktail! We bought 6 bottles of wine – a mix of Grand Rouge, Syrah, Zin and Sparkling Wine – for $ 149. That is a bargain!!! I don’t think we were charged the tasting fee because of all the bottles we bought. The winery has an outdoor wood fired oven, and a little kiosk where they prepare their other food offerings. The sausage pizza was good. It was $ 12 without a glass of wine, and it was delivered right away to our table when it came out of the oven. They only serve food from Thu-Sun and you can picnic in this winery. We saw a bunch of people with picnic baskets. We will definitely be back to this winery next time we’re in the area!
