LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this winery. I loved it so much I had to join their wine club. Have visited 3 times, the last time was on the Dia De Los Muertos Mexican holiday and boy did I have a blast. Mariachi’s, Food and wonderful fun. The owners are so welcoming despite the large crowd. They made everyone feel at home. Chris, Linda, Jeff and Liz, and all of the workers were so generous and kind to me and my guests. I have been to several of the other wineries but this by far is my favorite to visit and always will be. I had a bottle of Rojo Del Patron and am now hooked for life. :-) Thank you Oso Libre for a wonderful experience and great wine every time I visit.

Severely disappointed. This is my first review of a winery or anywhere. I usually do not take to Unilocal until I have exhausted all other remedies and contacted the establishment first. I am planning my best friends 30th birthday. She is out of town and wanted to come to paso to visit me and go wine tasting with some friends. I contacted Oso libre to bring the group of 14 tasting. They told me I could not come after 2 pm. So I moved all of my other reservations around and called them back to go right at 11 am. When I called back she told me I had to pay in advance for the tasting. What? Then proceeded to tell me it is custom in the industry. I informed the woman no other winery has required that. She said oh well we do. I told her I don’t know everyone tasting as some are the aunts and uncles of the people and I do not want to be in charge of handling everyone’s cash, making change and explaining to them they can’t use their credit card they have to bring cash to pay me back. Again I am so disappointed and angry. What happened to whatever is most convenient for your customers? What happened to customer service? What happened to customers first? They said the reason is because it’s hard to keep track of who has paid and who hasn’t for groups of 40. I explained we weren’t 40 we were 14… She said, no. Selfish businesses = no business. Businesses with customer service will get my business. Halter Ranch and Justin Winery were super friendly and super acoomodating.

Awesome winery with cool staff. We loved all of their wines! The winery is beautiful with lots of outside seating. It was a fun more casual laid back winery and we really enjoyed that about it!

The wines are good. The tawny port is nice. Chris the owner walks around says hello talks to you and even welcomed our dog. He is quite nice and a great guy. Really a great location to stop in and relax!

Great wine and great customer service! I had just recently joined their wine club and bought a few bottles of wine. it just so happened that this was over a holiday weekend and as a result it delayed the shipping. which I completely understand. As a result, they sent me an additional bottle and some nice gifts with my first order! Huge thanks to Ashley, Regie and Jeff! Amazing customer service and always there to help or answer questions. Great wine and food too!!!

ANOTHERBADEXPERIENCEONTHEWINETRAILNEARCAMBRIA: In this case, after a rather unpleasant tasting at Opolo Vineyards, we stopped at the Oso Libre Vineyards. I had tried the Syrah at Opolo and was reminded of how little I care for that varietal. When the somewhat surly witch of a pourer offered their Syrah to me, I demurred and let her know that I wasn’t a fan of the Syrah grape. At this she snipped at me, «But it won a Gold Medal!». None of the wines here were outstanding in the least and the service remained snide. Once again, all was forgotten once we arrived at the Grey Wolf Winery down the road. But, not unlike Opolo, the wines were mediocre, more like Stepford Wines where all taste the same and none rise to the occasion.

Everyone I know that has wine tasted at Oso Libre has raved about how amazing this place is, so naturally, I had to try it. Of course, Oso Libre didn’t disappoint. Both Chris and Jim are awesome and incredibly welcoming. Chris told me about his sister Stephanie who changed her name and then changed it back — I’m a Stephanie, after all, so it was a funny anecdote. Jim came over as we were eating lunch on the patio and chatted with our group about the winery and made sure we were having a great time. You’ll definitely want to have lunch here(get a burger!), so plan accordingly when wine tasting in Paso. The winery has two dogs that roam around and are super cute. But, don’t feed them! There are signs throughout the place warning that the pups get sick when fed human food. Well-behaved leashed dogs are welcome on the patio. When you arrive, you’ll pay your tasting fee and get your glass. Depending on if you’re a wine club member or not, you’ll receive a different logo on your glass. We roamed around and took various tastes at the two different tasting bars. I’m not sure we were supposed to do this, but we did it anyway and the staff was cool with it. The patio has a beautiful view of the livestock, and is a great place to snap a photo or two by the grapevines. Also, Oso Libre doesn’t get cell reception(for the AT&T users) so live in the moment and instragam your experience later.

I came in with friends over the 4th of July weekend and it’s a really cool place! We were sent by other wineries(we like to ask what they’re drinking) and couldn’t have been happier. –The interior: it’s hip and cool, on par with Tooth and Nail/Force of Nature. Has a slight Dia de los Muertos theme with a touch of hip industrial. Want to drink outside? They have a beautiful patio overlooking their vineyard. The food sounded amazing, but we didn’t get a chance to try it. –The wine: we’re avid red drinkers, truth be told. Their whites were on the good side, but their reds were delicious! My friend, who ended up joining their wine club, had just been introduced to the world of red wine on the 3rd of July(when we went tasting the first time). All of their reds are full bodied and delicious, not a bad one in the bunch. Their Revolucion is fantastic, as is the Grande and the Reserva. –The service: everyone was great to us. The owner stopped by a few times to laugh and chat. The guy handling our tasting was personable and joked with us the whole time. Everyone was really great, and knowledgeable.

Absolutely amazing tastings! My father owns a vineyard in Paso Robles(Beruli Vineyards, check them out for vacation rentals on VRBO) and we came for the weekend to wine taste and relax and this was hands down one of our top two favorite vineyards of the entire trip. The location is gorgeous and the two people helping us Jeff(owner/partner) and Ashley(host) were great. Both very informative about the wines, and super friendly! Most wineries have some wines you like, some you hate and some you LOVE, and Oso Libre was on a Like/Love for the entire tasting! We picked up two cases of wine and are looking into their membership! The Grenache was one of my favorites!

So… my purse was NOT stolen from Oso Libre! It was found hanging on the back of a chair @ Grey Wolf 4 months later with the contents intact! We visited Oso again last weekend and set the record straight! Yikes! Oso will be on our itinerary for ALL future trips. Fabulous ambience and fabulous staff! GO!

What’s not to like? It’s just to love! Stumbled upon this place 2 years ago. Best wine I’ve tasted in paso. Hands down. Came in today and was treated like family. Chris stopped by in his quad to say hi. Steve was an awesome host pouring the best wine in the area. Missed a chance to pick up our wine club shipment but can’t wait to get home to drink up pure perfection

All the wines were truly great. The winery itself was very nice/beautiful. The man pouring the wine(sorry I don’t recall his name) was exceptionally knowledgeable about each of the wines. Great experience!

So yet another reason to like this winery, I won their raffle and won 4 bottles of wine that they shipped to me! I’m so excited to have more of their wine at home! Rock on, Oso Libre!

I have to say, if I would have written this review a few days ago, it wouldn’t have been pretty. There was a mixup on my membership that was very concerning to me and I wasn’t sure how they would handle my claim. That said, Ashley was very courteous when I called. She spoke to the GM, Jeffrey, when I called and then they asked me to send them an email to verify my request. In return, the GM himself sent a lengthy and polite email explaining what had happened and took every measure to rectify the issue. Even though the initial experience wasn’t to par for me, I am satisfied with the outcome and feel that customer service such as this deserves a good mention and a 5 star review.

My favorite winery in Paso! The wine is delicious(although you have to be a member to try their best drops), the people are friendly and informative and they have animals galore exploring the grounds(dogs, cows, sheep, birds, you name it!). One of the first wine clubs I ever joined and still the best in terms of value and taste. Definitely visit during one of their Estate Angus Burger days if you can, $ 10 gets you a delicious burger covered in gruyère cheese, onion, mustard and greens, which, of course, goes so so well with a glass of whatever most tickles your fancy.

Really wanted to love it since it has such a fun theme, but did not have a good experience here. Cost to worth it rating: 2(zin was $ 38, $ 10 tasting refundable with purchase) Return worthiness: no Highlights: — Nice location: good view of the vines and hills — Sheep: interesting addition amongst the grapes — Fun art: all around cool bear stuff and funny signs — Meat supplier: they ship meat as well as wine which is unique — Country music soundtrack: unexpected and different Lowlights: — Staff: not friendly or informative. The lady just poured the wine and said the name of it and left, so I had to rely on reading the description — Wines: I didn’t care for any of the 6 that were in the tasting. A lady at another winery recommended their amazing white but they weren’t pouring that. Only bought a bottle so didn’t have to forfeit my $ 10. Maybe I went on an off day, but this was the most disappointing stop.
