Pianetta Winery

The wine is excellent! A must visit for first timers. A favorite for locals and wine snobs;) The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. If you decide to join the club, their the best in the region with awesome perks and fantastic wine events.

Our first stop on a 3 day wine tasting visit. Had a terrific time hanging with Kelly. if we wanted to try something that wasn’t open, Kelly was super agreeable to opening any of the current releases that we wanted to try. They also have a small selection of library wines which is really cool and not something you find at every winery. Kelly also gave us some GREAT recommendations on additional wineries to check out. Across the 4 tasters we had multiple favorites: Tuscan nights, zin, petite sirah, syrah… I think the PS might’ve been the star of the lineup. Love the downtown location so you can «walk it off». We’ll be back.

I was a member of 4 different wine clubs until I retired. Pianetta is the only one I saved. Not only is the wine magnificent, the people involved are truly committed to their product and their customers. The Tuscan Nights blend is one of my favorites. I also recommend the zin.

If you like reds please stop by this gem. Petite Syrah was exceptional. Their jug wine is also very good. The location makes it easy to access other tasting rooms in the area. They also shipped my purchase immediately so it will arrive when I return from the trip, because they asked when I would be back in town.

This is a tasting room in Paso proper but they do have their own vineyards a ways away.
I came here due to Unilocal reviews. The girl there was friendly and attentive. The wines just didn’t impress me very much.
The Sangiovese had very mellow tannins for a Sangiovese so I grabbed a bottle of that.
I guess you just have to like their style of wine. I just didn’t.

We stumbled (poor choice of words) upon this winery on our way back from our initial final stop on our downtown wine tour. They had closed an hour earlier and when we peered in they waved us inside. Thank you.
The space had an art gallery feel which paired well with the wine and the staff was fun. Unfortunately, the wine was meh. We ended up buying a bottle to offset the tasting fee, which was actually recommended by our pourer. People walking away empty handed must happen too often for this to happen.

Just went to the Pianetta Palooza BBQ and had a blast! Jamie did a fantastic job of putting this together. We also bought 2 cases of wine in addition to the wine club. We love Mallory in the tasting room and everyone makes us feel like family and are so welcoming! Also the tasting room is open an hour later downtown than others so
that is a bonus!!!

This is a small retail store near the Square in Paso Robles. The staff was very nice and their selection of five red wine’s was good. This is a small family owned operation and my wife and I enjoyed the experience. We purchased two jug bottles of wine and a shirt.

Great atmosphere, and great wines. The staff there is attentive, knowledge and make sure you have a great experience. I would certainly recommend you visit here.

This winery was recommended by a gal at another winery. so happy we went here. The wines were all good, we even joined there wine club!

Loved these wines so much that we joined their club! We usually don’t join wine clubs, but this one had such good wines and one of the friendliest, and very knowledgeable, people working the tasting room that we just wanted to join! Mallory was simply awesome! We look forward to many delicious wine shipments :)

Pleasantly surprised by Pianetta wines! If you like big reds, definitely include this spot on your list! Grapes come from their vineyards in Paso and Monterey County. Wide range of fruit bombs and smooth smokeys. Their Cab Sauv is a California fruit bomb!

This is our second visit to this tasting room. All their wines are good, but they weren’t pouring the Barbera this time. Slight disappointment, but the quality of the rest of their wines make up for it. We have always been greeted promptly and the lady who poured for us was very friendly and knowledgable. Their tasting fee is $ 6 but it’s waived if you buy a bottle. Great place to stop in and do some tasting in Downtown Paso Robles.

Wasn’t sure what to expect from a winery in downtown Paso Robles, but this place exceeded expectations. It was a nice space, friendly staff and pretty good wine. Definitely a worthwhile stop before grabbing dinner in Paso.

A fantastic winery with great wines. They are known for their reds and they did not disappoint. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable, and I learned a lot about the wine industry from them. I can’t recommend them enough. Can’t wait till the next time I am in Paso.

We decided to try this tasting room in downtown Paso Robles based on my mom my mom’s wine magazines and Unilocal reviews. It is a small store front on 13^th street with ample street parking. When you walk into the tasting room you will see art from local artists, Pianetta Merchandise, and the tasting table.
Pianetta is definitely known for their reds. They grow many of their grapes on their vineyard not far from the tasting room and buy a small portion of their grapes from other vineyards.
Now for our tasting experience. Our server was very new and still being trained and I could tell she was a bit nervous in working with us. She was nice, so it wasn’t really a problem and if she was ever super unsure she asked another person working with her to help.
There was a $ 5 per person tasting fee (waived if wine purchased) and the flight included all red wines. I was able to taste the following

From their list I was more partial to their Syrahs (the Bilancio was a blend of Syrah and Cabernet). In general I didn’t care for the wines because most of them were spicy and peppery. If that is what you like this may be the place for you. I left a little underwhelmed and I don’t think I’ll be going back if I visit in the future.
Overall it was an okay experience. If I were to come back to the area for a future vacation, I think I would try some of the other tasting rooms.

What a lovely place. I love love love love their cab sauv! Best cab sauv I’ve tasted in awhile. It was just delicious. I wish I could describe it to you, but I’m no wine snob. All I know is that cab sauv is my absolutely favorite wine, which sucks, because in the three times I’ve been to Napa and Sonoma, these wines tended to be the most expensive wines. Dammit. I don’t even know anything about wine, but I naturally just gravitate to the expensive shit. Anyways, this cab sauv is just so smooth, but bold.
And best of all, comparable napa cab sauv’s run about $ 85 a bottle. Pianetta cab sauv is $ 30 a bottle, $ 25 if you’re a member of their wine club. $ 30 freaking dollars! Needless to say, I bought a case. And they give you a discount if you buy a case or half a case. Unfortunately, I live in DC so I had the case shipped to work. Anywhoo… hope I don’t get fired.
Mr Pianetta was also super nice, hilarious, and down to earth. If you love cab sauvs as much as I do, this place is a must.
