When planning a day trip to Paso Robles, my heart was set on Diablo Paso after reading their Guanabana inspired Albariño. I am so glad that we got to experience this wonderful wine before the tasting room is open. Our private tasting was everything! Enrique is wonderful and very knowledgeable about wine and his vision. I was very impressed with how delicious each wine was and definitely tasted the Spanish/Mexican influence. These wines just tasted like home! My description was always«¡está riquísimo!» And they really are. Enrique even gave us tastings straight from the barrels! The price for the tour of the winery and tastings is $ 25 per person or waived with the purchase of bottles. With how much I loved the wines, I came home with the Albariño and the Rosé. Our visit was complete by having the winery dog Yoga get to hang out with us at the end. Love Diablo Paso and can’t wait to see the success this wine maker is bound to have with such great wines. Bravo, Enrique!

We love Diablo Paso wines — I think Enrique is the only wine maker in the area that focuses exclusively on Spanish varietals. Normally I don’t drink much white wine, but Diablo Paso’s Albariño is exceptional. Enrique’s Tempranillo is the best I’ve had. If you try his ’13 vintage and are a fan see if you can get him to part with one of his few remaining bottles of the 2012. He may be sold out by now, however, I’m not sure. The Garnacha and Rose round out Diablo Paso’s line up of fantastic wines. Although we heard that Diablo Paso plans to open their tasting room in March, we called for an appointment for a private tasting after visiting Diablo Paso’s website and getting Enrique’s phone number. If you are planning a visit to Paso and want to have an experience that is a little different definitely check Diablo Paso out!

The most amazing winery! We’ve been here twice and have had an amazing time each time. Enrique is so hospitable, so generous, so inviting, so kind and knowledgeable. His wine is so delicious it’s hard to choose a favorite! I’m really looking froward to his tasting room but also love his barrel room tastings where you get to enjoy and experience the wines with him. Call ahead for appointment. Diablo paso is a must got go to in paso!

It was a very unique experience. I thought I would just be a typical tourist in Paso Robles tasting wines and taking general cave tours. However, I found this hidden spot! Enrique welcomed us in the winery. We were the only customer(actually people) there besides himself in the winery. As winemaker himself, he introduced us three Spanish varieties: Albariño, Grenacha and Tempranillo. Albariño is perfect for the weather. Fresh and crispy. Grenacha has beautiful rose color and a pleasant sweetness. And the 2013Tempranillo! Very balanced with vibrant character. Live that spicy and oaky. Looking forward to visiting him again. Very talented winemaker indeed. Bravo!

Enrique Torres is making a very drinkable Tempranillo and a very drinkable Granacha. Both are very complimentary to food because they aren’t so big and overbearing that they demand all the attention. Can only be purchased directly from Enrique at this point, although both are on the menu at Mistura. Looking forward to the 2014 Albariño which should be out in the next couple of months. Glad to see someone in Paso Robles producing Spanish varietals in an authentic style.
