I went to fultons gate a few times in the past year. However, a few I went back there again after not going there for a while. It was late on a Tuesday night. I was so hungry and no else on town was open for food. The owner James said he turned the grill off, but that I could come in for a drink. I went there for drinks with a can of nuts I was eating. I shared it with James and his friend a bartender from another bar. After a while James turned on the fryer for me. I was also pleasantly surprised to see this place out of all the bars in patchogue village had very, very good wine. The wine was Angels and Cowboys, a red-blend mix. I was so delighted to drink good wine with a gracious fun owner of the bar. I had previously met a few good bartenders there so I felt giving this place my business was a good choice. In fact, I visited the place twice more within the next two weeks. I was reacquainted with a very cool bartender named Ryan. A smart, funny, good-natured guy. I gave Ryan advise about taking a sommelier course to improve his bartending and management skills. I tipped Ryan $ 20. Days later I met another awesome bartender named Tommy. I told Tommy because of my experience with Ryan, and more importantly with the owner himself James, that I would come back often and give them my business. I gave Tommy my hoistic doctors number since he was interested in improving his health. I also suggested he take a class to help his business tipped Tommy $ 15. I felt I had genuine conversations with the business owner and two of his bartenders. And i tipped them very, very well. After what I believe what a great experience with a genuine owner, I have completely changed my mind about this bar. Tonight I went to the bar. The wine is $ 10 a glass and I asked for a bottle knowing it would be less expensive. There are four glasses of wine in a bottle. So if i bought 4 glasses it would cost $ 40. So instead I bought a bottle. The owner charged me $ 39. $ 1 less than buying 4 glasses. There was a party there by the patchogue fire department so there was free food. When I got food and brought it back to my area of the bar, James the owner said it was a private party and that i was not entitled to the food. Even though it was out so anybody could eat it. He said he would take care of it. So after I paid $ 39 for a bottle of wine which should have cost less than 4 glasses of $ 40, the bar started to serve dessert for the party. Meantime, I finished my bottle of wine and I purchased a glass of wine. James announced the dessert was ready. Then he turned to me and said the dessert is not for me. So I spent mega bucks in this week within two weeks and tipped the bartenders well, yet James did not offer me a discount on a bottle of wine, just literally $ 1. Then he insulted me by saying I ate their food and he asked me not to eat the dessert they would offer. I really don’t understand why James would treat a new, yet loyal customer with such disrespect. 2÷5÷2016 Review Update: P. S. After rethinking my review and circumstances, I think that James is only ugly on the outside, not on the inside(joke). I will go back for some of the best wine in Patchgoue and for some good conversation.

Fultons Gate is about as Irish as Mario! Not a thing in this place after walking in made it at all feel like an Irish pub, if anything, I felt I just walked into an old seedy dive bar that’s seen better days. It’s sad because they completely renovated the old olive tree which wasn’t my fave either but 100 times better than the gate. We sat down and looked up at the beer board to find Guinness and bud light. No craft as far as we could tell. I asked and he offered me smith n forge hard cider(no thanks I’ll drink my own spit) Another guy came in asking for what they had bottled which I guess wasn’t obvious enough when I asked«is that all you have what’s on the board?» He rummaged the fridge and pulled out a Sam smiths stout saying«I dnno what this is but we’ve got one of these». I looked up and said I’d take it after the other guy ordered his Guinness– On to the menu, man was I excited. Didn’t know what to get but I thought surely I couldn’t go wrong; Wrong I was! The Shepard pie looked smelled and reminded me of what dog food might taste like. It was slop and tasted straight from a can. The bangers were thick skinned and cold, bland as could be. The beer cheese fondue stuff came in a thimble and tasted like cheezewhiz– this was paired with stale pretzel nuggets I’d prefer from the movie theatre. Not a single thing we had was good, the server was friendly and poured us a free shot, that’s great and all, but an Irish name and a smile won’t make me return. I see a lot of great reviews of the place and can simply shake my head. It’s a shame, some constructive criticism could certainly be used at this place. Fultons gate is a dark and dingy dive bar, bar hags, Cougars, and bad bad food, bad beer, bad time. It was within the first few months they were open so that’s the only reason I feel I’d give them another chance to see if they worked out the growing pains, yet… Out of all the places I’ve written my respective glowing and negative reviews, never have I been greeted with such bitter and rude replies from owners as I have with a place in Medford and a close second is the butt/hurt Fulton’s gate.

In the year since they first opened their doors I have tried most of the items on the menu and have not been disappointed! Great Irish Pub. The food is good and the beer is cold. Not pretentous like the Irish Coffee House. The staff is freindly and courteous. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed. Don’t miss Wednesday Irish night. Good way to get acquainted with this venue at a bargain price.

I’ll start by saying I’m really happy to have an Irish pub on main street in Patchogue! That being said, it totally needs a makeover as it has a bit of a dive-like feel to it. Looks aside, James and Declan are awesome. They’re both super friendly and make you feel at home, and really add to the authentic Irish feel of the place. Food is surprisingly good for a pub– I would definitely eat here again. Their fried provolone with balsamic was really tasty, along with their Jameson BBQ wings and hummus plate. I definitely appreciate the perfect pour of Guinness this place puts out also!

If you’re looking for a friendly relaxed atmosphere to eat, drink, and just have a good time; this is the place. The service is very professional and friendly, and really make you feel welcome. The bar is amazingly well stocked and the the food selection is not your usual bar fare. The staples are there too, but the treat is in the more adventurous dishes. The bacon wrapped gorganzola stuffed dates are awesome. Give it a go and you won’t be disappointed. If you’re lucky you might catch one of the owners there. You won’t find more cordial gents anywhere. Cheers.

Stopped by last night for a little pub grub. Had the pub burger and companion had the Ruben. Burger was excellent. Cooked well and juicy and had excellent beef taste. Use of rasher(Irish style bacon) made a major contribution to one of the best burgers I had in quite a while. Ruben was excellent using swirl rye to set it off. The jicama slaw was a great addition. Had Irish beers which were excellent. This is a real nice place and it is worth a try in the expanding restaurant scene in Patchogue. If you go, I’m sure you will be back. I know I will.

Another great new place in Patchogue! Made me feel like going back to Ireland. Stopped in for happy hour. Had the provolone bruschetta, smoked chicken flatbread and clam fritters. All were delicious. Can’t wait to go back for dinner. Their kitchen was serving some authentic Irish looking dishes that looked great. Tom and Kristie were friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome! Definitely will be back.

Food was good. Busy afternoon from the pour over from the bayport parade… however menu has no kids menu, and when went to order the kids their meals they told me they just ran out of chix fingers. The grilled cheese that was offered only came on the marble rye. Dining area is tight and very noisy with loud music.

My husband, my mother and I went to Fulton’s Gate to hear some Irish Music, get a drink and a snack. I am so very glad we did. The staff and the owners are a happy bunch. They make you feel comfortable right away. Even the other patrons at the bar were great. The beer selections was perfect and the food was awesome. We bellied up to the bar and my husband ordered Smithwicks and I ordered a cider and was handed an amazing Smith & Forge Hard Cider. My mother doesn’t drink and settled with a Seltzer. It was a very busy night and the staff was still very attentive. Our glasses were never empty. Even though we sat at the bar, there is table seating with wait service. The menus at the bar are on these neat little clipboards which is awesome for a bar setting they don’t take up a lot of room and are easy to use. We ordered and shared: Baked Stuffed Clam Fritters(With a cajun spiced Bayou dipping sauce) Gaelic Corn Dogs(Beer & cornmeal battered Irish bangers) Classic Corned Beef on Marble Rye Everything was delicious. I actually can’t wait to go back to have the Gaelic Corn Dogs again! The clam fritters were like baked clams with out the shell they are a perfect finger appetizer. The sandwich on the Marble rye came with a really great grain mustard and fries. The fries were probably some of the best french fries I’ve had in a bar and I couldn’t help but dip them in the extra cajun sauce. We would definitely go back for dinner to explore all the other really appealing options on the menu. Everything was very reasonably priced. If you are looking for a nice comfortable place to relax have a drink and a meal with your friends look no further.

So this place used to be the Old Olive Tree. We’ve been wanting to check this place out since it opened because we heard they did a complete renovation inside & now it’s an Irish Pub/Restaurant. When we walked in we were disappointed. First impression of the place was that it had a kind of dive bar feel to it. As far as the renovation inside, it definetly didn’t have an Irish Pub feel to it at all. No traditional Irish music playing & it was certainly lacking in décor. But they are new so maybe they will add to it over time. With all the competition in Patchogue you really have to have that something special to keep people coming back and/or wanting to check it out. We each had a beer at the bar and were greeted by Declan. Very friendly fellow. We checked out the menu but nothing on there really jumped out at us or made us say«we really have to come back here and try that dish». No wow factor at all. We were really excited about trying this place out and left disappointed. Would like to say we’d come back and maybe split an appetizer or two & give it a second chance but it’s highly unlikely.

As I sign into Unilocal to do a write up on this Irish gem, Fulton’s Gate automatically defaults as my «next review». It’s a coincidence, considering I planned on reviewing this place, anyway… it was simply meant to be! That said, my boyfriend and I wandered into Fulton’s Gate for a ‘first time’ experience, earlier tonight. Mind you, this establishment has only been open just shy of two months, and we were sure there might be some kinks to work out, but behold, it already seemed to be grounded from the get-go. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by Ryan, one of the most friendliest chaps who went above and beyond in service! We had a nice chat with him about the bar, the beers, Ireland, and the authenticity of the place, which made for a fun experience. Ryan was knowledgeable of everything in the place, and was willing to answer any questions we had. Plus, he had, what I call, the ‘bartender’s intuition’ and knew when we needed another drink or wanted food. I think he would be the epitome of welcoming, because that’s how we’d felt, and it’s nice to find a place that makes us feel like we can relax, have a meal and not feel rushed out. Speaking of the food: if you’re itching for authentic Irish cuisine, this place nails it! My boyfriend ordered the Guinness Pie(I’m getting that next time!), and I had had the fish and chips, with the option of the thick wedge chips… you can opt for standard, thin fries, also. I think I made the right choice, as my meal was fantastic! The batter on the fish was nice and crispy, no sogginess present. I tried a bite of my bf’s Guinness Pie, and that was sensational! The gravy in the center was flavorful and tasted surprisingly light, considering most meat pies can be heavy. I highly recommend. This place also does some interesting versions of your standard ‘pub grub’, but with their own flare. I look forward to trying their garlicky fries, next time! Honestly, I’m aware that most Irish pubs come a dime a dozen, but I feel this place delivered on a high level of uniqueness. It is the Blarney Stone of Irish pubs! But, that’s not the only thing it had going for it; it delivered on quality, service and cleanliness. Basically, it delivered in every aspect one could think of. And yes, I even paid the ladies room a visit to see if it was up to par with the rest of the place, and I can vouch for the cleanliness of that, as well! It’s always refreshing and pleasant for us gals to feel comfortable in a nice, well-kept facility. Needless to say, my boyfriend and I shall be going back to experience more. As a new business, I do hope they thrive, as they deserve it for their efforts.

Spent New Years Eve here at Fulton’s Gate and must say, it was a WONDERFUL experience! We were seated as soon as we arrived and had a great spot. Our server, Crystal was AWESOME. So attentive, fun, and professional. She seriously was a great server. The food was awesome; the french onion soup was ridiculously cheesy and good. The wedge salad was crispy and fresh and the traditional guinness stew/pie was yummy. Order one of the specialty cocktails on the menu-although I stuck to one, I sampled a few of them and they were all so good. So happy there is a quality, clean and promising new pub/restaurant(and further down Main street) in Patchogue!

Finally a good Irish bar in Patchogue… and the food is REALLY good. My wife is still talking about the bacon wrapped dates. Service was great and atmosphere was great. Definitely going back. Really cool place. Plenty of TVs to watch the games and very reasonably priced.
