Had the Happy Easter roll, beef negimaki and miso soup. My roll was beautifully made, a combination of crunch rice and soft avocado with tuna. The negimaki was nice and tender and well seasoned with a brown sauce. Miso soup was not as good as some I’ve tasted, but my fiancée pronounced it good. Desert was the Flute Limoncello which was excellent, a mix of tart and sweet. Will definitely be going back for more rolls and Bento box which a lot of Asian places dont seem to offer. Service was very attentive, there may be some language barrier but by pointing to the menu we got everything we wanted.

Honestly… Disgusting worst pad Thai and terrible service… the hostess asked me to sit in the entrance hall to wait for a to go order… Smh who does that… Never again.

This place is the worst Japanese place I ever been to. I ordered steak and it was completely under cooked and then the vegetables were rare as well. I wouldn’t waste a penny here.

I’m kind of a sushi-snob who stopped eating raw stuff about 5 years ago so I stick to the basics like California Rolls, soups, and cooked dishes. I’ve been to this place many times and it has gone through ups and downs. Never terrible, but sometimes excellent. At this point, I’d safely say that it’s about average, nothing worth writing home about. We most recently did take out to see how it compared to Hoshi in Patchogue. We ordered the California Roll dinner. The California rolls were not really flavorful, but just food. I had Hoshi Patchogue’s California rolls less than a week ago ia takeout and I remember saying«Damn, these are really good». I ordered 2 miso soups instead of the soup and salad that comes with the«dinner». They don’t seem to give very much fresh sliced ginger with the dinner package which is 18 rolls, so that could be improved. They DO include cucumber with the California roll, so that is a plus and worth mentioning. Some of these sushi places have been leaving out the cucumber lately(maybe to save money) and the rolls just don’t taste the same and you don’t get that«fresh crunch». Thumbs up to keeping the cucumber. The miso soup«to go» styrofoam bowls were HALF the size of Hoshi Patchogue’s, so thumbs down with that. The soup itself was average, nothing worth mentioning. Hoshi was slightly better.(I’ve been to many other Japanese restaurants other than Hoshi, just trying to give a good LOCAL comparison for you). Lastly, we tried the Tom Yam Shrimp Soup, which online menus listed at $ 5.95. When we got the bill they charged us $ 6.95, so that was not cool. It’s only a dollar, but they should update their online menu… this is the 21st century, get with the game. The soup itself was not for the faint at heart… it was very spicy, but flavor was good. Again, Hoshi Patchogue’s Lemongrass Seafood Soup is better for the extra .20 cents Hoshi charges. The service is average. The parking is not bad. The interior décor is decent. The exterior looks decent. Overall, it’s a place to eat Japanese, but I’ve had better.

Been eating there for years the last two takeout meals were not good. The Sushi was not fresh and had a real fishy taste and smell.

Food is always great and fast. Servers are great, one guy knows our orders by heart.(Some may be a bit bitter) but everyone has bad days so it’s understandable. Overall a great place.

My boyfriend and I are here all the time. Fresh yummy food and good saki. We’ve learned to order everything one at a time so we can sit and talk between each dish. Also the place is always busy which is a good sign ;)

Yummy sushi! I started with the miso soup which tasted great. Then had tuna sashimi accompanied by a shrimp tempura roll. Both orders were beyond fresh and very tasty. The prices are comparable to most sushi places in the area. I’m just not a fan of the hibachi station, especially since you leave smelling like you were on the grill.

Fun place, great food, perfect for a family party or friends night out. Have not been there since renovation, but my sons say it looks beautiful. fresh sushi, generous servings at hibachi.

Went back again with my mom, who is very new to eating sushi, and she absolutely loved it also! We both got Kani salad’s to start, which was fresh and tasted delicious! Then we got the Patchogue and Medford roll(delicious!) and eel avocado and spicy tuna. Just the right amount food and our waitress was very polite also! Definitely going to keep coming to this place.

All I have to say is OMG. My wife and I can polish off the sushi the for 2 by ourselves. All rolls we have ever had are great(spider, spicy yellow tail, etc.) the ultimate roll however is that amazing patchogue roll. It has fruit on top and is just so filled with flavors that light up the pallet. We have also visited the hibachi dinner a few times and it is also very very good. Some hibachi places clearly don’t care for their cooking surfaces as well as soumo does as other places I have experienced a burnt flavor to my dinner, but not here! It will not disappoint you. The show is good and will entertain. They also have a delectable kani salad. Eat up folks!

This is my absolute favorite sushi resturant! I went for my birthday and the service was amazing. They checked on us alot and made sure we were enjoying our meals. Also, the sushi and cooked food is delicious and so are the deserts:)

Love this place! Food is always great, staff is friendly and attentive. Had Christmas dinner here this year, I think it’s a new annual tradition. Also, the renovations look great, inside and out. They replaced the private party room with a bar! Hoping for outside seating in the warmer months.

I have NEVER had a bad experience with Sumou. Sushi is always fresh and tasty. A bunch of people from work placed a large order the other day and the woman who took the order was very patient and even offered to put everything on separate checks so there was no confusion with change. Didn’t have to wait very long when I went to pick it up. Everyone loved their sushi and had happy bellies. I’m looking forward to eating here again soon!

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed Sumou yet! We love Sumou! The food has always been outstanding, and now the building matches! The renovations came out beautifully! The sushi is always delicious, and while other sushi places give rolls fancy names for mediocre fish, Sumou’s special rolls are truly special! My favorites are the Red Dragon Roll(Spicy tuna, eel, avocado, crunch w. special seaweed outside) and the Medford Roll(Tuna, salmon, shrimp, avocado, crunch, mango. Top w. lobster salad & spicy king crab). They are each HUGE and delicious! My husband doesn’t enjoy sushi, so he gets their beef negimaki and absolutely loves it! Sumou is truly a gem in this area. We travel about 20 minutes to get there, and it’s worth it!!!

Terrific sushi and very good and entertaining hibachi chefs! Our entire family loves this place. You can not go wrong with anything that you order here. For me, the only problem is that I tend to over order when I come here I love the sushi so much! When ever we go there we order the Wasabi Shumai as an appetizer. It is so good! The kids love the beef negimaki or the goyza as appetizers. If you like rolls you will love theirs. I usually order the red dragon roll and a spicy tuna roll. Then I’ll add on some individual sushimi like toro or yellow tail… If you like sushi give it a try! The kids usually get either hibachi or will order some rolls that they like. Whatever they get they love!

One of our favorite places to go! We always dine in, sometimes it’s hibachi, some nights its sushi! The staff is super friendly and very attentive. last visit we noticed they are renovating the place on the outside. Looking forward to seeing the new look! Hibachi is always fresh and very exciting! A smaller place than some of the other hibachi restaurants in the area, but very family friendly! :-)

What a fantastic place located in East Patchogue. We were in the mood for sushi and my mother had come across this place a few years back after she moved into the neighborhood. Apparently it use to be a Pizza Hut, which closed and this little gem popped up. You have a choice between regular dining or hibachi. It was just 3 of us so we we wanted to try the sushi. Got there sushi /sashimi platter. Everything was fresh and the service was quick. My mother got the Patchogue sushi roll and loved it(and my mother doesn’t really east sushi all that often). Overall, our food was very good. Nice place to make your go-to sushi spot.
