Great takeout place for authentic Mediterranean sandwiches and the like… This is probably the cleanest and most delicious sandwich place in Paterson Main Street area if you are looking for Mediterranean sandwiches such as Beef or Chicken Shawerma or some very delicious homemade Hummus… Their ability to pull together a delicious sandwich with a slew of condiments to choose from(Garlic sauce, hot sauce, pickles, veggies) topped with the grilled wrap does it for me every time. Two items to keep in mind… 1. They have a separate menu for ‘dine-in’ vs. takeout with dine in prices slightly higher 2. Their ‘dine-in’ facility and service is nothing special, in fact, very much sub par but their takeout food is absolutely worth bragging about Thanks for reading!

Customer service is not that great, we were eating in the dark, we didn’t realized until they turn the lights on. We have to wait for a bit because our server made a mistake since he didn’t write our orders. They really need to double check, even the straw is dirty. It could be just a bad coincidence that everything went wrong.

Great flavor, good food, sandwiches are bigger than others near. I only do takeout here mostly. In the past Group of us went seat inside the restaurant an eat few times but the service wasn’t good as usual. All theses meddle eastern restaurants service just sucks. I feel like they don’t care if you come back to their restaurants or not. I will go back for takeout, hmm maybe will try out eating inside to see if anything changed.

Nasty attitude. Prepares food with no gloves, dirty looking, and headphones on, but food is good(used to be better)

I love the food at this place but the restaurant is a total failure. Clearly management doesn’t care about its restaurant’s business. As a prior reviewer I was met by a hostess/waitress in headphones! She seats us and asks for an order with the headphones in her hear and could not hear! Finally she decides to remove one head phone out one ear to take the order and I confirmed with her three times because she looked high or half asleep. Anyhow she screws up the order which is predictable. All food comes except mine. I ask her is my food done and she says it’s almost done with an attitude. 30 min later everyone has eaten except me who got full on humus and bread and she realizes she never put in my order. She start bickering with cook as if it’s not her fault. I End up cancelling my order and leaving. Never ever coming here again. Too many restaurants in Paterson for me to waste my money here. Only thing I can think of is that they are focused only on takeout and care less about the restaurant.

Food is good but customer service is very poor. Very unfriendly and rude! Not worth the price.

Worst experience ever. We(party of 3) walked in and had to hunt for the hostess to be seated. We were greeted by an unethusiastic girl with head phones. She seated us at a broken table and once we asked to move seats, she argued that the table was fine, when it clearly wasnt. We waited for 20 minutes for the waitress to come, and when we almost left she finally came(still with headphones in). At this point we decided this restaurant was not for us.

Their meats are incredible. I got the mixed grill(beef, lamb & chicken) and they all were good. I like their foul as well. The one thing that I did not like is they charged us for drinking water… not cool.

Food is okay. The only thing really worth eating here are the lavash sandwiches. The turn off to this restaurant is the fact that they automatically add gratuity to the bill without any notice. If I was getting good service from the waitress I would have no issue paying, but that’s not the case. The manager completely brushed off my request for me to pay my own tip and responded by saying the computer calculates it and there’s nothing that can be done. Basically, the dine in service is horrible. No wonder it’s usually empty. Just do take out.

I use to go to Baraka every Sunday b/c I work late and don’t have time to cook. Every week, I’d spend at least $ 40.00. The last time I went there, they were out of lamb for the mix grill. The owner asked if I wanted all chicken. I said, «can you give me a discount as lamb is much more expensive than chicken and I’m a regular customer.» The owner said, «no» You can’t even take $ 1 – 2 off for a regular customer? Being a GM and working in the service industry, I leaned in and told the nice young man who works at the register, answers the phone(I can’t remember his name but he has reddish hair and is the only friendly person) and is the only friendly person there this would be the last time he’d see me. I now go to another location down the street which is so much friendlier, cleanlier and they offer tea while I wait for my order. 40.00×52 weeks… Dear Owner you do the math. Lastly, the last time I was there they were sweating and wiping there hands all over the place and putting the sandwiches on a dirty, contaminated counter to cut so maybe he did me a favor by saying«no» for the 2.00 discount.

Was in Paterson and craved a real shawarma sandwich. I stopped by and was so happy I did. Ordered shawarma and it was delicious, very cheap too I felt like I should pay more for it. I devoured the sandwich in a minute. Meat was marinated right and was tender. The bread they use is fantastic. I spent like 6 $ for lunch and it really hit the spot. Will come back soon

Really gross. I tried the chicken kebob on lavash bread and a fatoush salad topped with chicken kebob. The chicken was rubbery and didn’t have a pleasant texture. My friend and I could tell immediately that some of the chicken on the salad was white meat and some was dark meat, like chicken thigh. It was sloppy and shaped differently and when we cut it open it was dark/pink in color. I can’t believe they are using chicken thigh and trying to pass it off as kebob. On to the fatoush, it was literally like eating a bowl of soggy bread and nothing else. They put so much pita in it and barely any lettuce. The cucumber didn’t seem fresh, and there were large pieces of onion and cucumber peel in it. It was gross and went in the garbage. The things I did like were the white sauce they served on the side and the sauce on my sandwich. They need to step it up big time if they want to compete with the other places around. We did not dine in, so I can’t comment on the service.

Baraka has very good quality meat. The owner is from Aleppo and he prepares the dishes Syrian style. The restaurant is clean and the service is attentive. Overall my favorite place in Patterson. Will come back.

*This review is based on takeout, not sit in.* 1) Do NOT come here for sit in! The service here SUCKSBIGTIME! However, for takeout this place is awesome. 2) The reason being, the chicken shawarma is great. And they use Armenian lavash bread, as such, the shawarmas are huge and unique. 3) Again, please do not use this place for sit in. If you use it for take out, you will have a wonderful meal.

Had you asked me about Baraka 6 months ago i would have given it 5 stars and wouldn’t stop bragging about it. That all changed this past weekend. First, we walked in around 3:30 pm, 4 adults and one child. as soon as we walked in the waitress asked if we had reservations… my husband burst out laughing and asked if they were short on tables because NOONE was in there besides us. As soon as we sat down, i told her i would like an order of french fries for my son until we ordered. She brought us 2 menus and just stared at us for a good two minutes until we asked her if we could have a few minutes to go over the menu. It took 25 minutes for the fries to come and that was AFTER I asked her if they are ready. She forgot half our order, and i didn’t bother correcting her because we all decided we wanted the experience to be over with. The food came out at random times, the main dish came out before the appetizers. I had to ask her for plates. then my husband literally took the plates from her and handed them out and asked her to get us utensils. When all said and done, the food was very salty and the service was horrible. About 10 minutes before we left a man walked in with his son and the waitress once again asked him if they had reservations and of course we all laughed and started talking to him. When our bill came, i told my husband I don’t want to leave more than 10% for the waitress because she was just so awful and the food was horrible, we didn’t even eat much of it. Then the man reminded us that the 15% was included in the bill, which we had realized the last time we were there HOWEVER, he told us THEOWNERTAKESTHE15% TIP, THEWAITSTAFFDOESN’T GETIT. Of course being shocked, my husband actually asked our waitress if she gets tips, very calmly she says she doesn’t work for tips, and the 15% is for the owner. WHAT??? WHATKINDOF A SCAMISTHAT? THESERVICEISHORRIBLEBECAUSETHEYDON’T GETTIPS, NOWONDER!!! THEFOODWASHORRIBLE, THESERVICEISHORRIBLEAND I AMPAYING15% EXTRAFORIT? no way, We will continue going to Sultan and Al Basha from now on.

I give it 4 stars for the chicken schwarma alone. I was there for lunch when it wasnt busy so i cant really comment on the service. The place was clean though. The chicken schwarma was made as it should be on one of those roating grills like the gyro meat is on. Best chicken schwarma in the area.

I would give this place 5 stars because the food tasted really good, but for customer service and sanitation of the place I would give it NO star. i went their with 2 friends and ordered a few sandwiches to go. Had about 10 minutes to watch the guys preparing our food. One of them had placed our food on the grill and then walked to the end of the line and started eating with his hands, and then once in a while he would come back to check on the grill. The biggest issue thing that really disgusted me was how disgusting and greasy behind the counter was. Like where all the food is. I watched other employees coming to the line and stick their hands in the food sampling it and walk away. And the most disgusting thing was the hood, you could see how disgusting an greasy it was. There’s so much dirt on it that I was afraid it was falling on our food on the grill. HORRIBLE. They need to fix those problems and educate their staff about those things, and most important is CLEAN, CLEANANDCLEANPLEASE

Terrible service! I think now I understand why everyone seemed to be doing take-out instead of dine-in. The server was sooo rude, with such an attitude — messed up our order thrice and the place was practically empty! Then on top of that they’ll add a steep service charge — no wonder there is no incentive to give reasonable service. Net-net, given the choices in the area, go elsewhere.
