The Carriage House

Great food and great service. My family and I went there after visiting the local Watchtower Branch and were surprised at how great everything was. The food, the beers they had to offer, and the service were all very good.

This is a nice country bar and grill. They do a burger of the month each month if changes. My fav is the dough nut burger. It’s a burger with bacon on a toasted warm glazed dough nut. It’s sound weird but taste great. They have a lot of favs on there menu. The staff is also nice and Steve strong is always there to please. If your in the area try this place. It’s worth the wait if there is one. Trust me.

The food here was so very delicious!!! I had the pasta and broccoli rabe and it was so flavorful! The spinach and artichoke dip with toasted bread was so good that not a drop was left. Quaint atmosphere and our sever was attentive and sweet. Wish we lived closer because this would be a regular place for our family.

Stopped in here post snowboarding for some eats! Tracked this place down via Unilocal and it was a solid win… This place is cozy, warm and you can tel the food is gonna be good!
We sat down like animals and wanted to order food immediately after hanging on the slopes all day. Pretty sure our waitress could tell since we all looked dead and were slouched over in snow gear.
Ordered the fried zucchini and oh my god, it was probably one of the best orders of fried zucchini I’ve ever had. Super crispy on the outside and laying on top of a pool of olive oil with parm cheese and marinara sauce for dipping. We really enjoyed these, they were gone in two seconds.
Other things ordered were French onion soup, Cobb salad, crispy chicken wrap, and the grilled cheeseburger… Everything was super delicious and cooked to perfection. The wrap I woofed down had Cajun bacon on it? What the… It was amazing … Sounds boring but it absolutely was not. The grilled cheeseburger was bomb. Grilled cheese with a perfect Patty in the middle… Nomnomnomnom… They gave crispy onions on the side (yes, it was the crispy shoe string fries ones!)
We honestly came here bc we wanted the peanut butter and jelly bacon cheeseburger but were let down when we found out it was the burger of the month. Months ago… Bring that back!!! Burger of the month is a cute idea especially for a place like this. They had some super truffle city burger seemed too truffle~y for me… This place was good, I would come here again when I’m in the area.

Great! Wonderful entrées, and very good drinks. If you like hamburgers, I’d recommend trying the burger of the month. They rotate a verity of unique burgers with different toppings, but nothing to weird. They all taste great. Also, another plus is the atmosphere. It’s clean and cozy on the inside for the winter, and for the summer, there’s nice patio seating. Thy this place out!

I love this place. The service is good, the meals are great and the price is reasonable. It’s a little annoying that they don’t take reservations on crowded nights so expect a wait for your meat. Otherwise, I highly recommend this location.

Excellent! Clean restaurant and incredible food! We felt at home here. I ordered Philly sandwich and my husband ordered the Reuben.

Love love love Carriage House! I was a regular for the longest time. Everything my boyfriend and I have gotten there is so delicious! We went there so much, we ended up befriending the staff!
My only complaint is I didn’t have an assigned seat at the bar. Lol Oh and the bartender is the bestest!
My boyfriend and I haven’t been here in a while because we moved to Seattle, but you better bet it’s going to be one of the first places I go, when I go home to NY.

My brother and me come for dinner here and the quality and quantity of steak is on the money. Comparable to chucks in danbury in my opinion. The bar is a little small but the outdoor seating makes upnfor that.

Consistently amazing food and service with fair prices. Have been going here since it opened and have never been disappointed. They have a nice menu and cocktails for everyone’s taste. If you want American food in a comforting atmosphere you have come to the right place.

Darn I let myself get tricked! Make sure you look at the Mahopac vs the Patterson menus before you decide you want chicken and waffles and head to Patterson! Made a new decision and went for eggplant panini. Was actually so great! Cheesesteak was a little greasy, but it was really yummy at the time. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend wings, but I wouldn’t discourage them either. Overall okay. Extra star for outdoor seating and kind waitstaff.

This was a cozy place to get Lunch. The staff was friendly, the tailgate burger (it was on special) was delicious, and they had a good beer list. Tried the Mac n cheese bites and fried pickles, both were tasty! I liked the décor (carriage house themed as the name suggests). We ate in to escape the heat but the patio looked nice. I highly recommend this establishment, especially if you’ve come off a tour of the Watchtower Educational Center down the road.

We had salads — fiancé had garden salad with grilled chicken & balsamic vinaigrette, I had a salad with sliced apples, Gorgonzola, dried cranberries (craisins), candied walnuts and grilled shrimp and raspberry vinaigrette. Our salads were very fresh and absolutely delicious! We also ordered sides of a baked potato and sweet potato fries (very large portion!) We were very happy with everything. We sat outside, had very attentive and friendly service and the prices were very moderate. Bottle beers were 5 bucks each and I got free refills on my seltzer, cranberry and lime. The menu was very broad from many appetizers to choose from, salads, panini’s and main courses. It was a perfect dining experience! We will definitely go again when in the area!

We split the Pot Roast Sandwich which was ENORMOUS! The potato salad was delicious.
I am a clean freak– there was no dust on any of the decorations: very rare!

Great Food and a nice find for us. We were driving by the area and looking for a place to stop. We tried three items and all were great. Scallops, Burger and Steak were all well made and looked great. The food all came as we ordered them. The only negative were the normal fries, do not bother with them. Many of the others sides were very good. We loved the Broccoli Rabe, Sweet Potato fries, spinach and more. Everything was very good. We went Saturday night, busy but too bad. We were lucky no wait, but others had a wait as the night got later.

i really loved this place i would totally recommend this place. the only thing is that the waitresses there were kinda rude.

So far so good. The Carriage House ale is worth it enough for me to come here, this beer makes me happier than a battle of Gettysburg reenactment. It is a great IPA made for Carriage House by the mad men at Captain Lawrence. I would drink this beer until I turned into a big beer. So one day I realized they also serve food at this beer outpost. I first ordered the wings, I’m a big wings guy and in my professional wing eating opinion, these rank among the best in the tri-​town Mahopac area. The pork nachos were absolutely perfect because it combines the 2 best food groups… pork and nachos. Finally I had the Chorizo & Tequila Little Neck Clams… effing wonderful. Eating this put me into a state of peace & bliss and I thought I was floating above the clouds with unicorns and flying fucking dolphins, it was amazing.
I will be back time and time again.

Living in New Fairfield, there are few places to go that keep me coming back, and The Carriage House is one of them. The food is very good for any meal on any day, and the craft beer menu is top notch! The service leaves something to be desired, but otherwise, I have no complaints.
Starting with the food, it’s all been great, except for one dish. The good apps include a variety of wings and the fried pickles. In fact, they have some of the best fried pickle’s I’ve ever had (outside of Baltimore, of course). The only app, or dish on the menu for that matter, that I can complain about is the bacon scallops appetizer. It’s got some good flavors, but you can’t enjoy them because the salt is just overwhelming. I’ve had them twice, and both times, it was way too salty.
Besides that, there’s nothing more I can say that’s negative. The burgers are all terrific, especially the Carriage House burger, which is served grilled-​cheese style between Texas toast. The wraps are all large, my favorite one is the buffalo chicken wrap. The horseradish steak sandwich is also awesome. And they’re all made even that much better paired with sweet potato fries. I really can’t get enough of the sweet potato fries!!!
The ambiance is very comfortable, a great New England vibe only two minutes from the New England border. On the coldest winter days it can be a bit chilly, but bring a sweater and you’re more than okay. It’s a smaller restaurant, so the intimate atmosphere keeps you quite cozy.
The service has never impressed, and is the only reason I cannot leave a five star review. They are very nice, that’s for sure. But every time I go, the wait staff has to be hailed for a refill, instead of their keeping an eye on the drinks. They’re not very knowledgeable about the beer or wine menu, and whenever I order a steak-​based meal, they don’t know what an «au jus» is. I’ve never had anyone recite the specials, they’re always reading it off a piece of paper.
At the end of the day, sub-​par serivce isn’t going to keep me away, because everything else is just that good. For lunch or for dinner, The Carriage House is the place to go.

Came in for lunch the other day with my mom and my very fussy 2 year old. He hostess gave us the choice on where to sit — bar area or dining room — I chose the bar area since it was empty and there were a few patrons in the back room.
We ordered our usual and favorite appetizer — Fried Zucchini — I cannot tell you enough how amazing their FZ is. I ordered the Chicken Chipotle Panini, Mom ordered a Chicken Wrap and I ordered Mac n Cheese Bites for my daughter — not knowing how she was going to like them I took a chance. The waitress said they were really good so I went on her suggestion. Once hey came out I tried a bite and she was right, they were awesome and my daughter loved them.
I seriously wish I lived closer bc if so I would dine here all the time! Always happy.
