Planet Fitness – Pawtucket

A Planet Fitness opened closer to my house. Rather than waiting for a transfer I canceled my membership here so I could start one there. Others have complained about issues with canceling but my experience was hassle free and I was able to sign up at my new location the same day.

It is really sad to have to go from 5 stars to 1 star. But, when you get treated terribly for simply attempting to cancel your membership that is simply unacceptable.
I recently went in to cancel my membership. I arrived in person and requested the form. Upon my request I was responded to with a single word, «Why?» To which I responded, «Does it matter? I would like to cancel my membership.» At which point the individual at the front desk responded, «Whatever.»
Really? I could have wanted to cancel for any number of reasons, many of which could have been personal. And I probably would have responded more favorably if I had not received a one word response upon my request to cancel.
I would have considered joining again in the future had my schedule permitted as I did like the facility but, it only takes one time of being blatantly rude for me to never return somewhere.
I will be sure to never go back to this location or any other Planet Fitness for that matter.

I have been a member at the Pawtucket Location for several years now. I have always felt comfortable and enjoyed going. I have to add that about 2 ½ years ago I really started using the trainer Ana and let me tell you she was able to help me finally get to my weight goal that I have been trying to achieve for 19 years. She not only changed the outside but really did a lot to boost my confidence in myself. Instead of saying no I can t do it now I say lets give it a try and see. I can t thank Ana enough for all that she has done to change me into a more healthy person… without her I know I couldn t have done it. I use to like going to the gym before but now I LOVE it!!! Thank you Pawtucket Planet Fitness!!!

I’ve been a member at various Planet Fitness locations for eight years and this by far the worst of them. Let’s start with the fact that they’ve had a broken water fountain for over four months. That is not an exaggeration. I think it’s fair to expect a gym to take less than ¹⁄₃ of a year to fix a water fountain.
The treadmills are from the 1990’s and EVERY SINGLE ONE has something wrong with it. At the very least the heart rate function or incline doesn’t work. The worst ones will have the tread do a sudden jerking motion every now and then which is pretty dangerous. The remaining treadmills will have the «temporarily out of order» signs on them for months at a time. I spoke to a manager in March and they told me that they would have new equipment «sometime this summer.» Let me say that it’s no surprise that the same outdated machines are still in operation here at the end of November.
I’ve also had cash stolen from my wallet in the locker room on days where I’ve walked into the gym and not one employee was behind the counter or anywhere to be found. The manager also told me that «they don’t know how to change the station on any of the televisions.» All of the televisions are apparently stuck on the channel that they are on for eternity. Like six of them are on NESN. You’re out of luck if you want one of the televisions to be on a Celtics game, or an MLB or NHL playoff game. This is the gym for you though if you like college football highlights or fishing shows. You’re guaranteed to be able to view a fishing show on NESN while the World Series is on.
The people who work at the front desk are all nice and it’s not their fault that management is running this place into the ground. Planet Fitness are the bottom feeders of the industry but this location still manages to be an embarrassment to the franchise. Probably going to find another gym before the new year since they’re obviously not going to address any of these issues under their current management.

I joined a couple of weeks ago. I’ve been a bunch of different times and it’s never been so busy that I struggled to find a machine. A couple of things are usually out of order but there’s still plenty of machines to choose from.
I wish I had a gym with more features but for the price, it works for me.

The facilities are great, and most staff was friendly, but watch out for the hidden fees and runaround from management if you ever need to relocate. I moved out of the area, and this gym went out of it’s way to make it nearly impossible to cancel membership, one employee insisting there was no way to cancel unless you physically go to another Planet Fitness so they can try to talk you out of it. PE Fitness Studio avoids the high-​pressure sell tactics, and is much more open and transparent.

I went by a few weeks ago to check it out and it passed my test. I just finished working out today for the first time at this gym.
The gym is spacious, clean and everything works. The men’s locker room is clean with large private showers.
Plenty of parking with a dunks close by.

I lift things up and put them down! Haha. I tell you that Planet Fitness has some great commercials. You definitely need to check them out on YouTube or something.
But anyways, I am sure you are here to learn about the Armistice Blvd location of Planet Fitness. Am I right? Of course I am.
The gym is a decent size (that’s what she said). Inside they have a ton of cardio machines ranging from treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, and more. Even with all the New Year resolutioners showing up at the gym, I still manage to score a cardio machine.
For those that like to get their pump on, they do have several Nautilus machines. I must say that they have a few benches for those that like to bust out a couple of sets to really wail on those pecs. The free weights section is small in my opinion. At times you find yourself waiting for space.
Other features/​amenities include a 30 minute workout for those that are all business and pressed for time. They also have locker rooms where you can hit the showers. And for those trying to get their Jersey Shore on they also have tanning booths.
All in all this gym meets my needs. Plus for the price of $ 10/​mo, you can’t really complain too much. I will be curious to see how packed this place gets when the weather warms up a bit.
