Someone recommended this place as being cheap and honest when I was looking around for a major repair. I was going to have this place do the major repair on one of my cars but before I could get it in, my GF car broke down just a few blocks away from Tony’s. So i went in and asked about a tow, asked how long would the car be tied up, etc. The quote I got was 45. for the tow and that the simple problem would be done that very day. The problem was that a 3″ coolant hose broke. We went to the parts store, bought a gallon of antifreeze for 7.99, bought new clamps and a hose. The items we bought were less than 23.00. I made sure to tell Tony’s all the new stuff was on the floor in the front seat. 2 days later went to get car. Was handed a bill for 180. Was told the hose we bought was cut too short so they used their hose and charged me 10. for it. The job itself was a very easy fix and could not had taken more than 15 mins., but he charged me for more than an hour labor. He also said in addition to the antifreeze we bought he had to use 2 more gallons and he marked the antifreeze up in price to 25. (and no car takes 3 gallons of antifreeze, 1 gallon is what is called for to our car and that is why the part store sold us only one).As we were leaving, he repeatedly told us, «Anymore problems, come right back». The very next day the top radiator hose was pissing and we found out that it was not cracked, it actually had a small slice in it… He said he used our new clamps, but he did not use them, he put the old rusty clamps back on and kept our new clamps and charged us for clamps! Beware of these rip off people and STAY AWAY from Tony’s on Central Avenue in Pawt!

I have a VW that was in need of service. I didn’t know anyone around here but the Scott Dealership, which has the nicest lobby I’ve ever seen, but high prices. My neighbor recommended this place to me, said he’s been going there for years, and al he owns are Volvos and VW’s. He’s pretty frugal and knows cars, he does a lot of repairs himself, so I figured they had to be good. Well, a few days ago I started smelling a burning wax/​plastic-​y smell whenever I drove my car. I called Tony yesterday and he told me to come right over. He immediately knew what the problem was: I had run over a plastic shopping bag while the engine was hot, and it had melted onto the bottom of the car! So, they put it on the lift, and scraped it off my car, also checked all my fluids and topped off the windshield washer fluid, all for free and done in 15 minutes.
I needed an oil change and new tires, and I needed it done before the end of the week. They did it right then and there. I waited in their office for a couple of hours, and it was done. Runs great, they realigned it and did a great job. I would definitely go back there for oil changes and repairs. Their office is not very comfortable, but I don’t think they have a lot of people waiting around while their cars are serviced. It’s got a tv and a few chairs, but is pretty cramped. The Pawtucket Salvation Army is right across the street, and there are a bunch of other little shops if you need to kill some time. I wouldn’t say they are cheap, but their the prices are reasonable, they seem honest, and the service is fast, professional and competent.
