Friday Night Flop… We live in Payson and have been wanting to give Dalton’s a try. I was really looking forward to the prime rib. We arrived and were greeted with a smile and seated at a table. The hostess took our drink order, brought our water and a roll and butter. And that is where the service ended. Another couple was seated after us and they got the whole explanation of the specials that we did not. We looked over the menu and made our selections then sat there and watched as tables and booths were serviced multiple times yet no one stopped by our table to ask if we were ready to order or if we had any questions about the menu. It was just 8:25 and it was not very busy and several servers were just standing and talking at the register. After 20 minutes of feeling invisible we got up and left. Not impressed!

Stopped in on a suggestion from the local butcher who suggested we dine there for dinner. Not only was the food fresh and fantastic, but the service was impeccable. Owner Lanny was terrific both as cook and host; hope our travels take us there again!

Dalton’s Steakhouse is our go to steak place. Food is always good. The live music is nice and not overwhelming in the small dining room. Well worth the drive to Payson.

My wife and I love this place!!! Great food and good entertainment. The owner is extremely friendly and VERY customer oriented. When you go you have to try the fried green beans, they are delicious and the Smoked Salmon is awesome!!! Great family restaurant or date night restaurant!

So bad. Can’t cook a steak for the life of them. Steaks are thin and underwhelming. You may as well cool on at home on the grill.

There was so much to love about Dalton’s. Nicely decorated, has a great ambiance. We went on a Tuesday and they had an amazing guy on the piano playing live music. They’ve got a wall that pays homage to war veterans. The service was friendly, the food came out quick and it was SOGOOD! Love the battered fries, love the steak, love the vegetables, love the bread pudding we got for dessert. No complaints. Definitely recommend!

Excellent steak, I mean really good. Not sure about the vegetables. I think they were frozen, not fresh… Nice ambience, warm sat by a big fireplace perfect on a cold winters night. No alcohol Sonja would have enjoyed a glass of wine… Oh well we are in deep Utah I suppose…

The sign on the front windows reads«Best Prime Rib in town» talk about false advertisement. I came in to have dinner with my family; I ordered the ½ WELLDONE what was put down in front of me was a plate size slab of meat with a golf size ball of fat in the top left corner. When I cut into the prime rib it was pink. I let the waitress know and she took it back while I finished my clam chowder soup. The soup had a creamy broth to it, nice chucks of potatoes and canned clams, really… canned. The waitress put down the prime rib and I cut into it again, still PINK. By that time the owner came over and said he was personally going to oversee my meal being cooked correctly. I finally got my original request, a Prime Rib well done and the flavor of being put on the grill was awful. I didn’t’ finish it and took it home for the cats. The owner was very friendly and hospitable however the chef that night sucked. I rather have great good over friendless.

Excellent food and service. Generous potions. Chef was kind enough to prepare an entrée from the dinner menu, even though it was during lunchtime. Will definitely come here again.

Came back to Daltons with my inlaws to give it another shot after the bad fudge brownie experience last time. Oh boy oh boy! They did redeem themselves! The owner was very and I mean super extremely nice taking our orders and explaining everything in the menu. To the guy with a beard(the owner) you are an amazing person. I knew we it was worth giving this place another shot. You went above and beyond and I’m sure he didn’t even know I post reviews on Unilocal but he was just that person. He was amazing. We always meet and talk to restaurant owners but this man stood out amongst them all. Bravo! You know, when you go to places or restaurants –yeah the food needs to be really good but the welcoming attitude of the staff and the service needs to be remarkable. That’s what make you ‘special’ that really makes your customers come back and willingly spend and pay for your food. This place did great: the food, the people, the live music. Way to go Daltons!

We went for my birthday and my GF asked the waitress a standard question about one of the meals on the menu and the waitress seemed extremely put out and got irritated. Terrible service, Mediocre food.

It’s not the best place to go. I ordered a prime rib which was cut incorrectly and WAY over cooked. My wife had a steak and it was dry and burnt all around! Don’t really recommend it. Specially for the price!

Our party of 6 waited 30 – 40 minutes just to be seated after they said it was a 15 minute wait. Then we already knew what we wanted after waiting so long, they still took another 15 minutes to return to ask us what we wanted.(Mindful it wasn’t busy at all. So finally after ordering, they then came back to say that some of our 6 orders had to be changed cause they ran out of some of the stuff. So when my counter parts changed their order, another 30 minutes passed before we got our food.(Not to mention the family of 3 who was seated after us, got their food and bill and was gone before we even starting eating!) When we got our food, my Rib-Eye was nearly all fat. Someone else’s food was cold and they just nuked it! Never again… Worse experience in Utah ever.

Dalton’s never lets us down. And the owner is so super friendly. He always visits the table to greet us with a smile. Add to that the live entertainment and it makes Dalton’s one of our top choices!

It’s a shame that the whole experience wasn’t as good as the atmosphere of this place. The restaurant doesn’t look like anything from the parking lot but you go in to find a cozy fireplace, a wall of American flags and war memorabilia, and a stage with a piano and microphones for live music. There was a guitarist when we got there and it made the environment fun and exciting. Above the men’s urinal in the restroom is a sign that reads«John Wayne Never Misses». I told my table and they loved it. We sat down and they brought us big herb biscuits with butter. We ordered our food and didn’t get it or any drink refills for a solid half hour and it wasn’t by any means busy. When the food did come we were amazed at the huge portions of some of the plates(salads, chicken fried chicken) and disappointed at the tiny portion of others(sirloin, chicken alfredo, burgers). The cream of asparagus soup was so salty I couldn’t eat it. Someone in our group went with a pricey signature steak, and asked for it medium rare. The meat that came out was well done and so we asked for a different steak. The cook/owner came out and decided to lecture our table on how steak is cooked and how it continues to cook after it is taken off the grill. As if we have never heard about carry over heat. He should have had the conversation about how to cook a steak with his kitchen staff since they were the ones to blame. The cook/owner made us feel bad for asking for a steak cooked how we asked for it in the first place. For dessert we split the scone which was advertised and good for 4 people to split, but we found it to be plenty for 4 couples! If you have plenty of time and are flexible on how your steak is cooked, you will enjoy this place. I just wish the food and service were as good as the atmosphere of this place.

My wife and I popped in on an inspired whim whilst vacationing and sightseeing in Utah.(Arizona has a Payson as well, and I had to see its Utah counterpart) We enjoyed everything about this place, from the classy décor to the friendly service and the good food. One thing worth noting was the fried pickles we had as an appetizer. They were ginormous!

Wow, what a meal and what an experience. Live music plays as we walk in. We are greeted by a smiling worker who seated wherever we wanted. We chose a booth by the windows. We started looking at our menus, and the owner, Lanny came to say Hi. We ordered Fried Pickles as an appetizer. Yummy! Not your normal pickle chips. These are pickle spears, covered in a special beer batter. Fried to perfection, and served with a special dipping sauce. A great way to start our meal. I ordered Lanny’s Signature Steak, and my sister and mother both ordered the Dalton’s Chicken Marsala. We all had side salads. The Bleu Cheese dressing was great. My Steak was cooked to perfection. The demi-glaze on top was seasoned perfectly. The shoestring potatoes and onions were crisp and oh-so flavorful. And the bed of rice was divine. I ordered the Onion Rings as a side, and they are hand-battered thick rings, just the way I like them, served with that great dipping sauce. Some would call it fry sauce, but this is no ordinary fry sauce. The Chicken Marsala was equally well prepared. Chicken was moist and juicy, and the Marsala sauce was delicious. The mashed potatoes were thick and chunky, and you know they were made from real potatoes not long before being served. We were so stuffed that we couldn’t order dessert, but we did split one of their chocolate chip cookies. It was excellent. I hope to be back on a Friday or Saturday so that I can try the Prime Rib. Lanny, you have done an excellent job. Great service, great food, great live music
