After a long day of shopping I needed a quick boost of energy, so I decided to grab a coffee at this Dunkin’ Donuts. Since it was a busy day at the mall this Dunks was packed and the line moved incredibly slowly. The staff here was polite, but seemed to struggle with the rush. The coffee itself was good, but what killed the experience was the wait time.

This one always has a long line, so it sucks. It opens before the mall opens, though. Also, one of their new hires is batshit insane. They had two people working a Monday night and she was making the poor guy working with her feel so uncomfortable while loudly telling a story about how much she hates her boyfriend, launching into long rants and raves, going into oddly accented Spanish in between. I’ve had coffee here so bad in the morning(9 am) that I almost vomited and threw the entire thing out. That’s Dunkins’ for you, though.

Great people, poorly run. Never enough help. Only 1 register open, so the line is usually 10+ at all times. Very frustrating. They are losing a ton of business because people see the line and walk away

So it’s pretty, and it’s new. However, the drive thru is always mobbed, as is the inside and both take forever. They run out of breakfast foods very quickly and the staff is too consumed with themselves and whatever drama they are going through to pay attention to your order correctly. Don’t try to order 2 different flavors of a similar beverage because you will only get one of the flavors in both.

This review is concerning the Dunkin’ Donuts at the Northshore Mall in Peabody. I was here today and ordered a small, decaf, iced coffee. The young lady who took my order seemed very involved in another conversation with her coworker and initially started to make a hot coffee and when I corrected her, she moved to the iced coffee area and looked up at me, saying«French Vanilla right?» I replied«Yes…decaf…right?» She hesitated before saying«Yes,» which made me suspicious. Well… here I am at 1:22 A.M. writing this review, and wide awake. I’ve felt jumpy all afternoon and evening and am pretty much convinced that I got the regular stuff. Luckily, jumpy is all I get with real coffee, but for some people this is a health concern, and this isn’t something that any place that serves coffee should take lightly. Making an honest mistake is one thing, but being more into your own conversation than to the order being placed, and then having an opportunity to correct yourself and not taking it earns you 1 star on Unilocal

If I reviewed a Krispy Kreme, I have to review a Dunkin’ Donut. Like KK, this is a huge chain, especially in the New England area. They’re everywhere. Unlike KK, however, it’s closer to what I would call a donut. Their donuts have some substance and density, the independent mom and pop shops. In addition to donuts, they have bagels, muffins, breakfast sandwiches, cold and hot coffee drinks and blends, and smoothies. I’ve had their breakfast rolls, blueberry cakes, glazed bars, and a plain. All pretty decent, not overly sweet. But I’m still biased towards the independent donut shops… heart and character. If I were to rank this with KK, I would put this above KK, but below the independent shops.

In the San Francisco area, there are no Dunkin Donuts so I settled for some Krispy Kreme donuts last week and made do; knowing that I would be in Boston the following week and in Dunkin Donuts territory. I gave into the initial hype for Krispy Kreme donuts; yes the donuts are lighter; yes the donuts are amazing hot; yes I could easily eat 2 – 3 in one sitting and still eat a meal afterwards, but now I’m over the craze, just like craze predecessors such as slap bracelets, tomodachi pets, and razor scooters. Why am I over Krispy Kreme donuts? My two biggest reasons for initially liking Krispy Kreme was that the donuts are light(could eat 2 – 3 no problem) and the donuts are great hot. The reality is I don’t want to eat two or three donuts for the same satisfaction as one Dunkin donut. As far as the hot factor, at Krispy Kreme, the glazed donuts seem to always be the hot ones right off the assembly line, and I just don’t have time to wait in the morning for my favorite donut to come hot off the assembly line; I just want to grab a donut and run. At Dunkin Donuts, the Boston Kreme donut is my favorite donut, a solid five star rating. I had a chocolate frosted donut today, and it was filling and delicious, a solid four star rating. Man, it’s great to be back in Dunkin Donuts country for a few days.
