I’m not sure as to where I should begin, but I will keep this short and simple. *** First off to all the employees here that deserve a great deal of praise for doing a selfless and wonderful job ***** The North Fork Animal League, is a no kill shelter that takes in high risk dogs and other animals as well. This is where I came across my dog Copper, at the time a 4 year old full of life and love Pit Bull, taken from a poor situation. The shelter was more than welcoming with me and my adoption process, the workers here really cared for their animals and made adopting Copper as simple and joyous as possible. The Kennels were clean and some were even outside with large open running spaces, I would highly recommend adoption from anywhere before purchasing a puppy from some puppy mill or basement breeder. The NFAWL is a great organization that should be utilized if you are looking for a new addition to your household or family. Over the past five years they have stayed in touch with me and Copper and have made contact to see how things worked out and would occasionally call to see how it went. Sadly Copper has recently passed on due to a very aggressive form of cancer, but thank you to this selfless organization they gave me 5 great years with a wonderful companion that may have went overlooked otherwise. Thanks to some great volunteers I was given a wonderful gift, and a dog was spared.
