Horrible service. All the Employees that were visible, looked like they were forced to be there. Not the type of service that you expect from a bakery.

Although the baked goods were very good, the service was disgraceful. We spent 45 minutes waiting to pick up a $ 100 birthday cake order that was due to be ready 2 hours prior. The member of staff we dealt with was rude, implied that it was our fault, and not once did they apologize… even after realizing their mistake(as evidenced by the order sheet). A pity, as you’d hope more from a local business.

3.5 stars. Came into their retail bakery shop so I have no experience with their wedding cake business. What was super strange is that when you first walk in there were a number of glass cases with Chinese rip off looking purses and jewelry for sale. Anyway the selection of desserts were excellent. I tried their cannoli, rainbow cookie, and all three flavors of their rugelach. Everything was excellent and I had no complaints there. Most of the stuff is by weight, I got two pieces of each regelach, a mini cannoli, and a rainbow cookie for $ 5. The service I got was pretty rude hence the 3.5 rating but everything tasted great so I rounded up.

I didn’t choose ‘A-Ok’ because some of their things are really good and some are not so good. The lack of consistency is what keeps them at ‘Meh’ for me. I bought two regular cannolis today and the shells are soft and soggy. This has happened before. This happens because instead of putting the filling in when they are sold, the way it should be done so the shell is nice and crispy, they fill them in the morning(or yesterday?) and let them sit there all day with the filling inside the shell, causing it to get soft and soggy. Real quality Italian bakeries won’t put the filling in until they are sold. That’s the difference between caring and not caring about quality. Their black and whites are very good. Their lace cookies are good. Their biscotti is good. The frosting on their cupcakes is way too sweet. I have never purchased a pie or cake. Some of their pastries are ok and some are not very good. It’s a big and busy bakery and sometimes I think quality gets lost in the shuffle.

I came here for a cake tasting, and while I loved the cake, I was disappointed by the service — here’s why: 1) Location: This place is difficult to find, as in, the entry is difficult to find! The shop itself is right across from the Peekskill Brewery. We ended up going into the back office area by accident. They were nice enough to allow us through. 2) Cake & Filling: Their carrot and vanilla cakes were moist and delicious, but the chocolate was a bit dry. The cannoli, jam, vanilla custard, and chocolate mousse fillings were delicious; not too sweet, not too thick. The chocolate pudding filling was too thick and bland, the cheese cake was super strong, and the cream cheese for the carrot cake was also very strong. 3) Service: I called a month in advance to book my appointment. Then, I called the day before to confirm, and they said everything was set. I called the hour before my appointment saying we were running late, and they said it was fine. However, when we arrived, they had no appointment for me and did not prepare the custom cake I requested. The woman I worked with apologized and seemed very concerned that there was a mistake with my appointment, so that made up for it. I was really disappointed, but at the same time, the other cakes I tried were good enough to work with. 4) Cake Design: I see that they do cakes to order, so it is hard to say if the designs are their own or of the customers… personally I didn’t like many of them, but I was able to find a good wedding selection. They had two binders full of cakes and ideas, so that was good. Niki took my directions exactly, so I look forward to the result.

When I visit my grandma in Peekskill, the only thing I ask for is a Homestyle cannoli. This bakery is like a little piece of heaven. Walking in, the smell that greets you is sweet and warm, just what you’d expect from a place like this. Cookies and cakes and danishes line the interior as well as cannolis and other sweet treats. I’ve never had something average, as everything I’ve bought here is fresh, delicious and baked correctly. Parking can be tricky, as they’re opening a new museum next door but the parking lot across the street or in the back are available for customers. If you’re in the area, stop by this family owned bakery and pick up my favorite cannoli ever or something sweet on the way to your next destination!
