Been here twice won’t be back. The food just wasn’t my taste and the prices were high for what you got.

Came here for a beer tasting, I ordered 5 tasters. Enjoyed 4 of the 5. The brewery has a rustic décor, only problem I had, was the mold filled ceiling above the window at the bar. It seems the mold had melted the paint, giving it that 6 inch paint drip look. Plus, what bar has fruit flies in February! These guys are obviously slacking, if they put a little pep in their step, I’m sure they can do well.

My wife and I went here after hiking the«Anthony’s nose» trail that overlooks the Bear Mountain bridge. It was a weekday so there were only a few other customers in the place at the time. I forget which beer we had but whichever it was, it was pretty good. We ordered and shared a burger with hand cut fries that were very good but unfortunately, we also ordered the great sounding but overly expensive short rib nachos. The nachos were pretty underwhelming, extra salty and at $ 16, a rip off in our opinion. The short rib meat was tender and good tasting but the nachos overall lacked any kind of pizzazz, punch or fanfare. They were bland and a let down for sure as was the somewhat cold feeling décor and atmosphere of the place although, that is subjective. Others may love the atmosphere and to be fair, we were there on a somewhat gray, winter day when not many people were there making the place feel lifeless. In my opinion Peekskill Brewery is nothing special or unique and isn’t worth a special trip from any more than a local distance. We had a plain, uneventful and average experience here unfortunately. If 2.5 stars was possible, that’s what I’d give Peekskill Brewery.

The food here is an up-scale take on bar food. It’s rich and flavorful with a classy look to it. I never thought anyone could make a burger look so good. If you like a lot of fat and have no regard for your arteries, try the poutine! It was amazing. I was there with a Canadian and she even said it was amazing. I hear the Canadian thing is like a stamp of authenticity. The beer selection is great. Get flights and sample as much as you can. I didn’t have a beer that I didn’t like. Everything from IPAs to the darker stuff is worthy of any craft beer drinker. I personally like stouts and porters the best, so I can speak to the fact that these are definitely up to par. This place looks pretty classy on the inside at night. You can bring a date here and be quite impressive. The location is great in the summer. In the winter, it’s not the greatest sight from the outside, but you’re not going there for the look of the building. Just trust that it’s everything you expect on the inside. That’s touching, isn’t it?

Just had a delicious lunch. The hot pretzel was great. We then had the mac &cheese, truffle fries and the steal salad. The truffle fries are addictive ! The Mac and cheese has a nice smokey flavor from the bacon. The steak salad was also great. Word of caution, I ordered mine medium rare, but it came out rare. But this was fine for me, nice cut that hanger steak.

Great beer selection but the food is not inspired(other than the wings). Wings were great but nacho we lacked flavor and the $ 10 Brussel sprouts were tiniest portion I’ve seen for any plate. Fun trip up from the city but only a one shot deal.

Good brews, nice view of the river, and decent food. Not much else around, but worth a trip for happy hour.

We located this brewery on Unilocal and decided to check it out after spending a few hours at Bear Mountain. I was impressed with the beer and the location here, but unimpressed with the food and prices. For starters, it’s on the waterfront and when you walk in you have the option of going into their taproom, or upstairs to the pub. We settled on the taproom and found seats at the bar. One thing that threw me off a bit was there were dirty glasses in front of us and the bartenders didn’t clear them even after I pushed them away from us. You’d think that they would do that immediately. They have a pretty good size beer and food menu and you can chose from at least 10+ house beers. You can choose to purchase a growler, a pint, or a sample. I went with the 4 sample option and the price of this depends on which beers you get. I ordered: Howling fantods, Moscow on the Hudson, uncommon lager, and a 4th one I don’t remember. I thought all of them were really great! Sometimes with a larger beer menu some can be hit or miss, but these were all impressive. The food menu was a tad pricey and we just ended up ordering the chipotle maple wings. These were mediocre and really sticky! I would not order them again. If this brewery offered some type of tours/tastings I might come back, but I think they need to work on their food and service in the meantime.

Meh. Honestly, this place is seriously over-hyped. It’s not terrible, but it’s not fantastic. Very underwhelming for what you get. The beers are decent, but again, nothing spectacular. It’s also pretty pricey for what you get. The location is probably the one shining spot; right on the water. They have huge windows in the tap room that overlook the river, so if you go on a nice day it’s a really pleasant view. But again, I wouldn’t go out of your way to go there. It is right near the train, so it’s convenient, but I wouldn’t make a point to take a trip there. The food was pretty good, and brought out relatively quickly. I had the wings and a pretzel. All in all, if you’re in the area and like going to breweries, check it out. But don’t expect to be wowed.

Atmosphere was nice. Waitress was great– gave a good recommendation on beers to try. We ordered Burgers and Nachos which were just ok. A little overpriced for what you get, even though its good portions. Just nothing spectacular.

I’m not here to talk about the food or the drinks, both are pretty decent. My SO and I have been coming here for years, nothing unacceptable has ever happened until tonight. A bartender broke a glass behind the bar, fine — accidents happen I know but what was completely unacceptable was the bartender’s response when a shard from the broken glass flew over the bar and hit my SO in the face, an inch below his eye. The bartender gave us two bandaids and called it a day despite the fact that his face was bleeding from where the shard hit him, half an inch higher and it would have torn up his eye. This was really not an appropriate customer service response.

This place lost all of its promise. It used to be the best hole in the wall, now it’s a huge two floor overpriced food, drinks and followed by a rudely staffed business. I’m no longer fond this place.

With its close proximity to Bear Mountain, we came here after a hiking adventure to rehydrate and refuel. Expecting some good bar/pub style food along with some craft beers, we were surprised that this brewery was the most«upscale» that we have visited. The 1st floor consists of a tap room and the 2nd floor is where the dining room and bar area is. We went up to have a few appetizers and a flight only to be presented with an atmosphere that made me feel almost unwelcomed(I actually did not think I was even in a brewery any more). While the place was certainly nice in its appeal, it seems like they were trying to focus more on their food than their beer. We ordered 2 appetizers due to the price of the food and were given small portions of gourmet-style food. While I have to admit the food was delicious, I was looking more for pub fare to go along with my flight. That being said, they offer flights, but they charge you per beer based off the«tasting price.» This led to only 4 samples for at minimum $ 10. After our 2 appetizers and a flight, down $ 30 and still hungry/thirsty, we hit the bakery across the street and then headed off for another brewery. If in the area again, I will probably drive further up the road to the Gilded Otter brew pub if I am looking for food and craft beer. However, the beers at Peekskill are good and I would definitely come back just to visit the tasting room. As long as you come here with an attitude to spend some money for gourmet-style food [burgers even start at $ 12], then you will not be disappointed. If you are like me from NJ and are just looking for some greasy pub fare to go with your brews, then look elsewhere.

The poutine has potential to be a lot better — the cheese was delicious and the duck/egg version was especially tender, but there was minimal gravy and I didn’t really see the difference between what was supposedly foie gras gravy and regular gravy(we got both). Wings were crispy and not too dry, but could use more flavor. Friends enjoyed the tasting beer selections, though.

Coming here my fiancé and I were confused at why such a great looking spot was rated 3.5 stars but it was right by where we were so figured it was worth a spot. The place has two floors where the first floor has more of a focus on being a bar(though you can order food) and the second floor(though it has a small bar) is more focused on being the restaurant part. The first floor had a dart board and a foosball table but it was too packed on a Saturday afternoon to find a seat so we sat upstairs. The place is very clean and the service we got was great. It’s also worth noting that the place is in a very cute small town right on the water and it’s right by a metro north station so it’s extremely easy to get to without a car. The beers are sold in multiple sizes, pints are mostly $ 6 and samples are mostly $ 2.50/ea. We ordered 8 samples of their 14 options. The variety of flavors were great and there were several we really liked. Their Styriana and Shotgun Willie were two of my favorites. The only one both of us really didn’t like was their Cream Lager which was just too watery and tasteless. The problem I had with the samples was that all of them could have been a bit colder. For food she got their burger and I got their steak sandwich. Both came with fries and both were incredibly pricey at $ 16. The fries were excellent thick handcut fries. The burger was incredibly juicy with a great charcoal flavor. Unfortunately her medium burger came well done and my steak sandwich only had one piece of steak on it the thickness of a piece of cardboard. For $ 16 I’d expect much better attention to detail for the burger and more meat on the steak sandwich. The table next to us got their mac and cheese which looked amazing and upon leaving we saw a sigh for a great sounding bison lasagna which wasn’t mentioned to us. We may have given the place a second chance if we lived nearby but as it stands now the place just wasn’t worth coming back to.

The food and beer here is great, but the service the last time I went was terrible. Firstly, they made us wait around for twenty minutes to get seated even though the tables were mostly empty. They had initially told us it would take 30 – 45 minutes to get seated. Granted we had a larger group(7) but all the big tables and half the restaurant were empty. It just didn’t make sense that we had to wait so long. after we ordered, it took literally an hour to get any of our entrees. I’m still waiting for mine right now while four of the other people at my table eat their food. The table next to us just sat down and have already received their food. I don’t understand. This place is going downhill since last I came.

A last minute visit for a late lunch at the Peekskill Brewery on a Sunday afternoon. The waterfront was buzzing with a festival in the park and many people out for a stroll, a beautiful Autumn day by the Hudson and soon we felt the need for a brief refreshment Ah, The Peekskill Brewery loomed in the not very distant… Distance. We made the choice and popped in, the ground floor is the tavern area and 2nd floor the«restaurant», i for one couldn’t tell the difference except the 2nd floor was higher… Anyway, we were seated immediately and presented the menu and drinks list. I ordered the lager beer which was a perfect representation of lager. We ordered Hot wings, Chick peas w/truffle oil and the Parmesan fries. All three were delicious and the fries and chick peas were unusually inviting. The Hot wings were quite good, above average, though for getting hot, i’d ask for some hot sauce to up the ante. The Brewery’s sense of hot is really a mild, but lets not waste time on that, just ask for the bloody sauce . I eventually had a glass of the Cream Ale which was too light for my taste. The service was engaging & attentive. Brittany was our server… Professional, engaging and attentive… Thanks, you made our meal enjoyable! One thing, its a 7 on the loudness scale(1 – 10), upstairs or down it made no difference. I realize it seemed like a toddler convention with all the strollers there, today. But, still my first impression upon entering the Brewery was the high-ish noise level and busy as well. I would go back to the Brewery, the food was great with new twists to old standards, the beer was tasty and well crafted, the service very, very good. Price was middle of the road.

Beer — 5 Stars Food — 3 Stars Came here after a ridiculously long hike and was primed to down a horse-sized meal with every beer they had. On a late Sunday afternoon, not many people around so got to order quickly. Immediately ordered a four beer sampler($ 10) and the Pork Belly BLT($ 15). The drink menu certainly was cheap but the food menu looked like it’s from a trendy Williamsburg eatery. After enjoying the variety of beers, the BLT came. Towering sandwich that I had to crunch down to eat. Fried avocado was very good as it balanced well with the fatty pork belly. Sandwich was good overall, though it could have used more spicy mayo. This place is situated right near the Peekskill train station, making it incredibly easy to get to from the city — could be back.

I would have gave this place a 5 had it not been for the necessary requirements to make a reservation for the 2nd floor which wasn’t full at all and we were told wr had to wait 45 mins. So we decided to go down to the first floor to their tap room. Definitely a nice convenient spot right off the Metro North Peekskill train station. Great Craft beer selection I had their Amazeballs and simple sour beer and they were both great. My family and I ordered their Chipotle Maple and Garlic Parm wings for appetizers and I loved both of them. My main course meal was The Skirt Steak sandwich it was delicious and very flavorful. Courtney was our waiter and she was awesome, we had a very nice conversation about the upcoming 2015 Football season and she was just a blast to converse with.

Everyone who works here is super nice. They have a ton of their beers available(and for cheap), and there’s a ton of seating available. First thing you’ll notice is that the outside of the building is just downright ugly. I know it’s a brewery, but it just looks completely sterile and generic. The inside is cool though. There’s blueprints on the wall and some street art-type of décor. I wasn’t a fan of the saison though, but their coffee beer was excellent. Definitely worth a visit!
