I want to give 5 stars SOBAD! But today I have to leave this review with 4 and I’ll explain why. I came here for a glass of wine with my cousin two weeks ago as we were walking back to our car after leaving a local book store. Just the look of the iron vine was so inviting we had to stop in. Who ever thought of the double door is very wise and props to them. Firstly because whoever sits near the entrance will not get hit with a cold breeze during the winter(so annoying) and secondly the sliding door is so unique and beautiful. We had our glass of wine and chit chatted for a while, service was lovely and I noticed that there was a Valentine’s Day brunch and dinner advertised. So I mentioned it to my boyfriend who is a Peekskill resident and he checked out the menu and loved how it had a Latin twist to it and agreed we’d try it out. He made a Valentine’s Day reservation online(there was an Instagram post that said we ca

My husband and I went for dinner last night and were completely happy from start to finish! We are so glad we decided to go to Iron Vine! Our waitress, Ali, was fabulous. She answered every question and was on point every time. She recommended the El Cocodrillo, a house cocktail, made with in-house infused jalapeño tequila. Absolutely delicious! We had seafood empanadas and croquettas de chorizo for appetizers. Both were delicious! You can tell immediately that the empanadas are homemade and fresh. The seafood filling(crab & conch) inside was excellent. Both the crab and the conch were fresh and not imitation. The croquettas were amazing. Filled with chorizo, potatoes and manchego and deep fried with a mango chutney sauce. Perfect! The chutney was spicy but not over done and paired perfectly. I had the El Jibarito(skirt steak) sandwich for dinner and my husband the Cubano. I’m not a huge fan of of plantains and the El Jibarito is served on plantain tostadas so I asked if it was possible to get the sandwich on something else. Again, our waitress Ali, explained that the skirt steak is served whole so it’s hard to put it on a roll. She said it could be done but assured me that the plantain tostadas were the perfect pairing for the sandwich, made fresh and cooked perfectly. She was 100% correct! I absolutely loved every bite. My steak was cooked to perfect rare from end to end and the meat was tender. Usually when you bite into a steak sandwich it’s hard to get a bite but you wouldn’t even know you were biting into a steak sandwich the meat was that tender. My husband loved every bite of his Cubano, hand made fries and homemade ketchup. The menu is small but that is the best part! Every dish is made fresh daily and all local. Absolutely delicious!!! I would rather have a restaurant that has«limited choices» so that the focus is on quality ingredients, cooking and taste rather than quantity. Fabulous service, amazing food, beautifully decorated and very enjoyable! Thank you Iron Vine for a fabulous meal and experience! We can’t wait to come back!
