Stopped in with a co-worker along our route and took a gander at what they had to offer. It was early yet so not all the food was put out for the lunch crowd. They had all the basic breakfast staples such scrambled eggs, omelette, hash browns, and sausages. They stock a few grocery items as well as pre packaged specialty foods. The set up of this place is so that each food group has its own sections. There’s a deli section where they prepare sandwiches, a pizza area, and a mid sized buffet area. They even have a fresh juice area too! The bathroom is kept locked to ensure only paying customers use it. Don’t expect a toilet seat cover either. Oh and don’t be freaked out by the large mirror in front of the toilet, that’s probably so they could secretly spay on you. Hehe. Beware of stockpiling your plate as this place goes by the pound and you’ll find yourself spending $$$ on some basic stuff. All in all its ok as its your only option in the area. Try it out I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

Saturday March 122016 I have to say everything looks great. got food to go. However, I went to pay and get a Latte and the women working the register didn’t know how to make a latte. Someone else came and started to make it and as she was making it. I looked at her and she took a dirty utensil from somewhere… and steered my latte. yuck. Probably won’t go back. Don’t know what goes on

You almost don’t expect to find a restaurant here. But it’s a fine restaurant indeed. You can park in front of Gourmet Express, or you can park in the gas station in spaces reserved for the restaurant. Look for the signs. It’s a huge, delightful buffet that charges by the pound. There is salad, there is the main course area, and an island reserved for vegetarian food. There’s some nice leafy vegetables in the vegetarian section including delicious tofu. But vegetarians should not ignore the main course area, as they also have meatless options there, but they mainly consist of side dishes such as plantains. The quality of food here is excellent. It’s better than Fairway which is across the street. I would go so far as to say it’s better than Whole Foods(although you reasonably expect whole foods to be prepared with organic ingredients, there’s no indication that Gourmet Express uses such). There’s a small bakery section where you can get cookies, reminiscent of an Italian bakery. I tried it once last year and it was good but I avoid it because food is pricey here to begin with and I don’t want to get fat. What really sets this place apart from the rest is its wide selection of fresh juices. You can get orange juice, but you can also get some wild combinations. I prefer orange carrot pineapple and ginger. They have other stuff too, including something with turmeric. The only caveat is the juices are $ 5 – 7 each. And that’s the main complaint here. It’s a wee bit expensive. Quality hot food by the pound usually is, but combine that with the fresh squeezed juices and you can easily end up spending $ 43 for two people like my father and I ended up doing. Of course, you have to spoil yourself sometimes. But the high prices don’t come with much ambience as you’ll be eating out of those disposable aluminum containers in a dining area that’s not entirely level because the floor has dips to accommodate a number of drains on the floor. Complaints aside, the food is great at Gourmet Express! If you come you will be satisfied, just watch the weight of your food and how much your drinks cost, and you’ll be happy you showed up.

I visit Gourmet on a weekly basis, literally every Saturday. Don’t let the location fool you this place is a such a gem I may just cry if it ever closed. They have three buffets(cold, hot and vegetarian), sandwiches to die for, pizzas, and so much more. Everything is hand made and the staff is super nice. Pros: everything. Great authentic hand made food that has Never disappointed. Cons: they are not opened Sunday’s. Cheers

This little diamond in the rough is not easy to find. My brother actually told me about this place. I’m not really a fan of buffets(germs). But it’s clean and the food is fresh. You get your good and pay by weight. The fresh juice selection is amazing. I always get the African ginger beer or green juice. The staff is really helpful and friendly. You can dine in cafeteria style or grab and go.

My breakfast sandwich was delicious. Don’t expect the salads and other deli items to be anything extremely different than other stores. Deli items are self serve, even in large quantities. Ample indoor seating, clean, rather peaceful.

Excellent. Clean bathroom and place. The cooks and juice bar staff excellent. The cashiers seem disconnected from the customers. Like they are bored. But they’re very polite. Food is excellent and I do appreciate the diversity of the staff. If you don’t want to cook this is the place to go to. Excellent place for vegans and the vegan foods are separated from the meats. The selection is the same however there’s so much to choose from. I don’t get the impression that this place has any hidden nasty kitchen. The staff seems very proud of what the cook and prepare. The male cooks and juice bar is pretty cool. I like it. What can improve is the labeling of the food because sometimes I don’t know what something is however there is always someone willing and ready to explain. There’s always someone wiping and keeping the place clean. The parking lot gets full during lunch time. Here you will see NYPD Pelham Police and NYFD stopping in to pick up lunch. The food is healthy eating and they do a very good job.

Eating here makes me feel like a human being again as I tend to grab lunch from fast food and take-out joints. Real good food eaten in a relaxed atmosphere amongst good people. I drive out of my way to get to Gourmet Express.

At first glance the place looks like a factory when you walk in, But maybe that’s the look that they were going for. Don’t go for the ambiance go for the food. I visit this place a couple times a week the food is always fresh and tasty. There is always different items to choose from the buffet style menu.

Love this hidden gem! From the outside, it doesn’t look like much. However, give it a chance. They have salad bars and hot food area as well — where you serve yourself. They also make chopped salads, which are good. My favorite was the juice bar. They have some delicious smoothies and juices! This is right by my gym, so it is a very convenient spot– with affordable prices.

This place is amazing! Relaxed atmosphere, super friendly and helpful staff and most importantly — delicious food! Great variety, fresh selection with a homemade feel. Very similar to whole foods buffet, only less expensive and more like a family’s recipe. Just left and I am already looking forward to going back!

I love this place! We ordered two 3 foot heroes(Italian and grilled veggie) for a party and they were terrific… far better than any other place I’ve ordered from in the past! They were ready on time, stuffed with quality ingredients, and beautifully presented. They also came with serving utensils, three different salads, and delicious dressings and condiments. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

I like this place a lot. We had a mango smoothie, the mac and cheese, and fig bars. Everything was good. We thought the mac and cheese could had used a little bit more salt but no biggie. The smoothie and fig bars were on point. The people that work there are nice and helpful, the quarters are clean, and the spread of food to choose from is impressive. Go in and take a look– you should find a staple you keep going back for.

I am in love with this place! Too bad it’s so far from my home or work, because I’d eat there every day. There is a cold salad bar, sandwiches and pizzas, hot food, smoothies and fruit shakes, baked goods, all sorts of fancy organic /coconut water drinks(as well as the Coca-Cola products), and healthy snacks. The vegetables and fruits in the cold salad bar are fresh, crisp or ripe. There are also grilled vegetables, a number of oils/vinegars/dressings/nuts and seeds for toppings. The hot food bar had both poultry/meat and vegetarian options. The prices are very reasonable. I live next to two different Whole Foods, and they should cower in shame.

Talk about Variety! This place has it all… from the salad bar, the deli, the grill, the smoothie bar, the buffet hot foods, the huge selection of drinks. Great places to go with a good appetite and enjoy many different types of food. Outdoor and indoor seating in the spring/summer make a it a good choice for a lunch spot! Warning: the food is by weight so if you fill it up be prepared to pay. But overall great place!
