We had 3 specialty rolls the sojo graffiti bridge and whatever the special was that night. All of them were awesome. The tuna tartar was so fresh, and served with potato skins. My only complaint was I wish there was more of it!

My son had ramen tonkotsu soup and said it was good but he could’ve eaten MUCHMORE! Not that serving sizes are bad he’s a boy! I had sushi, loved it!

Went here to treat my step-mother to an early birthday meal. Although the food was absolutely delicious, our waiter was hateful to us for no reason at all. When I politely asked for our appetizer to be brought out first, he rudely said(under his breath as he walked away), «We don’t call them ’ appetizers ’ in this place! «Well, excuse me, princess! :/ The food is amazing(I had the shrimp tempura roll while my step-mom had the smoked salmon roll), but I won’t be coming back if the service is going be hateful, impersonal, and rude.

Disclaimer: I’m vegan, so I have no idea about the freshness of fish. But the nomaste & spicy veggie roll were delicious! This industrial space with a young vibe definitely scores Pensacola some cool points. The trap music was a little intense for a Thursday, but we were greeted with a smile and seated immediately. The menu has several veg friendly options & the sushi came highly recommended by a friend. The rolls came out quickly, and were beautifully crafted. We had the nomaste & the spicy veggie roll.

While I wouldn’t exactly call it a traditional izakaya after spending a bit of time out in California, I won’t let that detract from the food they serve. I’ve had the chicken shoyu ramen, the tonkotsu ramen, the pork gyoza, spicy tuna rolls, and a plate of delicious maguro that their sushi chef Christian gave to me as a sampler. All were delicious — the shoyu is usually my go-to. The staff is also wonderful, Christian as I mentioned before seemed like a very friendly and personable guy after a chat with him, and one of their servers(who I beat myself up now for not remembering his name) remembers me every time I come in and even what I typically order, which I really do appreciate. Really my only gripe is that the menu isn’t as traditional of an izakaya menu as it could be, but I’ll still rate 5 stars because for Pensacola this place is a blessing.

I was a little disappointed. I’ve been here twice and was not overly impressed either time. Great location and cool building but the food is a little overpriced. Their appetizers are very good and so is the sushi but the ramen is horrible. Very plain and just not good.

How to put this gently? Front of house including sushi=10 stars. Back of house, I.e. Kitchen = 0 stars. Allow me to explain. The sushi here is absolutely the best I have found in Pensacola. Every single dish is awesome. When I say awesome, I mean rave about it hours later. The fish is seriously fresh. Which it better be in Pensacola three blocks from Joe pattis. The flavors are well thought out and executed. The presentations are gorgeous. The chefs will allow experimenting and will even make you rolls if you say I love grouper and nothing to spicy. My wife and I did this tonight and both our rolls were seriously some of the best sushi I have ever eaten. The service. All I can say is ask for Will. I am sure they are all good but Will is amazing. He is friendly and attentive without crushing you. Really does an amazing job. Ramen, soups, etc. I am not a ramen snob nor would I consider myself an aficionado but the ramen here is edible at best. The Miso soup tonight was not. I am the last person in the world to send something back but I simply could not eat the soup. I felt so bad for sending it back that I offered to pay for it. Will of course would have none of that. Summary stick to the sushi and you will fall in love with this place.

OK sushi and appetizers. Ramen was awful. Way over priced for the quality of food. Nice location but not worth the trip. I would recommend Ichiban any day over this place.

Great service, terrific and unique Japanese-inspired cuisine set in a pleasing and comfortable atmosphere. This is not your typical sushi restaurant. Although they do offer traditional Japanese-American fare, their menu highlights are the Japanese pub items like the delicious pork buns we sampled, ramen and original sushi and sashimi creations. They make their own ramen noodles and the one we had was a delicious bowl of goodness. The roll we tried was also amazing with a bacon-wrapped scallop wrapped in rice and smoked salmon. Yep, it was delightful! I ordered plum wine and though the serving was shot-sized, it was extraordinarily delicious and contained a small spicy green plum and I wondered if they made the wine there. I would love to have the opportunity to try more menu items here!

This place was amazing! The waitress forgot to put in my wine order, but the sushi made up for it! The blue angel roll was great and made with real crab, instead of artificial. I will be going back again

Best sushi in Pensacola. Good service and so delicious! I do think the rolls are a little loose… But they taste good enough to make up for it. The wine & saki are on point, and the sashimi was«fckng good» according to my friends. Not too pricey, the soup is yummy and the chicken is nice as well!

Came back and have to say I loved my food a lot better this time around. The chicken ramen was absolutely amazing. Ask for Will to be your waiter, he was the best! Can’t wait for next visit.

It looks pretty but I’ve had better ramen /saimin at the McDonalds in Hawaii. The noodles were soggy — the pork belly as well. 3 stars solely for the fact my friend works there and is an amazing sushi chef! I would come back only for sushi that he(Christian) makes. I wouldn’t recommend getting ramen from this place.

TL-DR: amazing service, beautiful atmosphere, fresh and young vibe, incredible food. Upon entering nom, I was struck. The lighting was bright but not harsh, and it set off the minimalist but dynamic space. The hostess was very friendly but not overly so. She embodied the perfect balance between friendly and professional, and had mastered the exact volume to be easily heard over the(relatively) loud volume of the music. [Sidenote: the music was great. I may have to recuse myself and add that I am a millenial so the music choice might not be for everyone, but for me it was perfect. Varied yet just as fresh and impactful as the rest of the environment. My favorite song they played was Carousel by Melanie Martinez. I had not heard any of the other songs previously but they all seemed like tracks I would be happy to drive around town blasting.] When our waiter arrived, a comfortable 45ish seconds after we sat(long enough to get comfortable and begin to look at the menu) he was beaming. Many attentive and energetic waiters feel needy, giving you the feeling that they long for life affirming validation that you could never give them. However, our waiter, a young man named Wil, was perfect. He was very friendly, but easy as well. It felt as if we had been friends for years. He explained the specials incredibly well. He didn’t go too fast, made good eye contact and not only explained what the specials were but explained what was good about them, and why other people enjoyed them. He gave us a recommendation, the Mermaid’s Purse and we took it. The star of this appetizer was uni(sea urchin– the gonads to be precise), which was stuffed into a scallop with a sauce(maybe spicy mayo?), wrapped in nori and tempura fried. It was served with lime slices, which really made the dish. While not for everyone, the Mermaid’s Purse was delicious. The limes gave the morsels a beautiful acidity and made the dish bright and fragrant. I then asked for a sake recommendation. We were planning to have ramen, so Wil recommended a hot sake(I wish I had remembered the name of it) to complement the ramen. It was incredible, once again he knew his stuff and the recommendation was superb. We asked about the rame: enough noodles? He gave us all the info we needed(I include this only because no matter what we asked, he knew an answer. He obviously tried very hard to learn everything he could to give future customers the best experience possible. 5 stars, Wil.) My boyfriend and I both had the pork ramen, and it was phenomenal. I am usually a person that enjoys simple, singular tastes. I’ll deconstruct a sandwich to taste the meat, then cheese, then bread. But the symphony of flavors in this ramen was too much to resist. They worked together so well, I was entranced. Luckily, there was so much food, I still have two more meals of leftovers in the refrigerator(granted I don’t eat as much as most in one sitting). We were planning on ordering some nigiri or a sushi roll after our ramen, but ultimately decided that we would come back again for lunch in 2 to 4 weeks(I’d go back tomorrow if we weren’t trying to save money) and have a meal of sushi. I’m so excited to go back, I can hardly wait. I think next time we might sit at the sushi bar. Or we might just request Wil again. nom is a great time. I would recommend it to everyone and anyone. I’ll be posting a new review after my future lunch. Until then, try this place. It’s a hidden gem, nestled right next to Jackson’s. You won’t be disappointed.

Disclaimer: I am a super huge ramen snob who has had the privilege to have unforgettable bowls of ramen in California, New York, and Japan. Furthermore, I know this is Pensacola which is not a city known for culinary treats. This is the place you DON’T want to check if you want good Japanese food. I went with the Pork Gyoza and the Tonkotsu ramen and my entire experience was just not pleasant. Here are the reasons I did not enjoy this place. 1) Service was SLOW – slow enough that you notice it and start getting annoyed and want to leave 2) All the food preparers up front are Caucasian. So, again I know that this is Pensacola and food culture is limited, but if the Japanese food isn’t good, and I don’t see Japanese people preparing any of it, my thought is, «I’m not surprised.» In general, who would be better at making Borscht, an old babushka or a middle-aged Jamaican man? 3) The«pork gyoza» was terribly prepared. The way they prepare it is with batter initially on the bottom of a pan, then the dumplings on top. Then when they plate it, they flip it over so on your plate all you see is the batter(in the shape of a circle) while you know the dumplings are underneath. Now, I’ve seen this before at another restaurant and it was good so I thought I’d have a similar experience. Nope, the dumplings were stuck onto the batter and it was too difficult to separate anything – they would just fall apart. Also, while the gyoza did have decent taste, it was overpowered by the batter. Do not order this dish. 4) Lastly and more importantly, the Tonkotsu ramen killed my stomach’s poor soul. I was hoping with all my heart that I would find a gourmet ramen joint in Pensacola. Basically, there was no flavor and you can make a better soup at home. I’m pretty sure the noodles were packaged and they aren’t boiling the broth for 10+ hours just for your 15 minutes of enjoyment. So, 2 stars for effort and having a nice interior design with some creative art pieces scatted throughout the walls. Would I ever come here again? No. Should you? Only if you acknowledge that you’re not getting great/quality Japanese food and will likely receive a failed American food twist exploiting the draws of amazing Japanese cuisine.

Experience; off the charts! Granted it is sushi served from the coast but the fresh taste along with all the flavors… is to die for. Oh & we sat outside near the street, bonus! Did I mention the beer during the meal & the key lime pie afterwards are now 2 of my favorites also! You must go & enjoy the experience!

I was craving some ramen and did a search on Unilocal. The closest place to pop up for me was Nom, which was around a 50 minute drive from where I currently was. I was pretty excited after checking out the menu online and the description of the restaurant and decided to make the drive with my partner. I was feeling determined to go anyway as well because Izakaya’s are some of my favorite types of restaurants. I’d have to say that the food was okay, and the ramen we had was pretty good for ramen that you find out in the south. It’s still a developing food item in these parts of the states. I had the pork tonkatsu ramen, which my broth could have been tastier, it was kind of bland. My partner really liked her chicken broth ramen and I thought it was good too with a nice clear broth. For the prices of the ramen, I was expecting slightly bigger bowls, or more content. The slices of pork belly in my ramen were two very thin slices that really amounted to a typical thin one slice of pork belly found in ramen. We also ordered the takoyaki, a favorite past time of mine, as well as the beef tataki roll(Iron Man), and the pork bun. The Iron Man was okay, nothing to rave about, I couldn’t taste the sauce that was provided, there wasn’t enough. The pork bun was also okay, but it didn’t quite hit that savory umami I was hoping for with the pork belly, scallion, and sauce. The takoyaki was certainly different from what I am used to. It was deep fried and tasted more like a corn cake. I am pretty open to fusion and different ideas on how to make food, but I thought the takoyaki was pretty bad. It was bad because the piece of octopus was tiny, the density of the takoyaki was so heavy, and the worst part was that it was SODRY! It had been deep fried so long that when the dish first came out I was like, oh, Falafel Takoyaki? That’s how dark it was, and parts of it seemed black/burnt and certainly had that taste, you had to bite down hard. The dryness was overwhelming that it was hard to swallow, you had to drink your tea or water to help down it and help it move down your esophagus. So what do I think overall? The service was good, the food I had seemed okay, but stay away from the Takoyaki. A dish that is naturally supposed to be moist, light, and soft. It needs to be remedied. I would probably come back here again for the ramen and to try out different dishes.

A restaurant with no competition, well the competitors are there, but there is no competition. Talya my server was quick with a smile and fast with suggestions. I like that when I asked about the pork Ramen she rolled her eyes and said it’s just so good. So of course my order was the pork Ramen. I also got the tuna mini tacos. Tuna many tacos were a piece of artwork unto themselves. However, they were also very tasty. The pork Ramen was artwork visual art work and a mouthful of artwork. It was beautiful. and the broth was so flavorful and tasty and picturesque. The soup came with two bountiful sizes of pork belly and fried pork ear, and of course very tasty very well done and very homemade Ramen noodles. But this is not your typical Pensacola restaurant, because they are far above and beyond so I hope they stay here quite a while. I haven’t tried to sushi yet, however, it does look very good and fresh. Sushi really isn’t a mainstay in this town for some reason. But I think NOM can pull it off.
