In a city where there aren’t a ton of options to get decent, authentic tacos, Taco Rock is pretty good. Don’t let the dilapidated building with no sign(Since Hurricane Ivan ’04) and the broken front screen door scare you away. If you want cheap tacos, this is place will hit the spot on most days. I’ve tried most of the tacos there. I tend to land on the chorizo tacos for some reason. The spicy salsa is probably the best thing going for the joint. It’s not overwhelming, but packs a nice little bit of heat. I hate that they have some of their meat pre cooked and it’s basically warmed on the grill. That’s a drawback. Overall, they’re always friendly, and the prices are on point. If Pensacola had more than 3 places in town to get killer tacos, this place might just be a 2 or 3 star max. If they fix up the place just a tad and maybe get a hot grill going up front for the customers with made-to-order cooking, this place would… well, rock.

Always great authentic food. Well worth the drive. I drive 3hrs round trip to eat lunch here. Best tamales I’ve had in this area of Florida.

Excellent steak tacos topped with raw white onion and cilantro. I also tried the pollo(chicken) taco. It was kind of bland, and was topped with a white cheese that didn’t really add anything to the flavor. It was my first visit, so I tried both the hot and mild sauces. The mild is very mild, no real kick to it. The hot has just enough heat to make a nice complement to the steak tacos. They also came with lime chunks, adding to the authentic style of Mexican tacos. Overall, a good lunch & I will return.

Food was excellent but over priced. Ate lunch and could’ve ate the same portions again, but paid $ 28 for the little that we got. Explains the empty parking lot. Don’t be fooled. I love Mexican and eat allot of out and this is right up there with Mexico. It’s very good.

The 3 stars is based on taste being outstanding… but the price being WAYTOOMUCH! Holy crap dude, $ 6 for a bean and cheese burrito?! That is a rip off. The assumption that because it’s a 12″ burrito(which is normal for any NORMAL Mexican food restaurant tbh) is why it’s ok to charge that much is ill thought out. Also $ 8 for a a carne asada burrito is too much too!

I was looking forward to loving this place. It was good but not the best. The al pastor taco was way to oily and the salsa was ok. I also had an al pastor torta which was better but lacked freshness. And I also tasted their tamale, it was ok but not the best.

Delicious local dive, with excellent Mexican food and a Californian flare. Their hours are short during non summer months, but this place is worth it.

All Mexican food is great but I have never had anything like the Taco Rock(the actual dish itself) so run on up/down Palafox/Hwy 29 and try one! They even have a drive through so run through anytime!

Wow, just wow! What a Burrito! Fresh, flavorful, and a delight on the tongue. The chicken was amazing, and I can’t wait to go back for the carnitas.

The outside of this place might make you feel weary about eating there, but I assure you look can truly be deceiving! I used to hate Mexican food before I ate at Taco Rock, and because of this place I tried more Mexican restaurants & none of the other places compare to Taco Rock the slightest bit. They have got to have the BEST queso dip I’ve ever had and I’ve never ever been disappointed with my food. Hands down this place is AWESOME.

My favorite Mexican restaurant anywhere. Doesn’t have the greatest looks but the best places usually don’t. My favorites are the Torta Cubana and the Pensacola burrito. I have never cared much for Tamales until I had them here. Give them a try.

My favorite taco place in Pensacola. They also have a food trailer at the flea market on the weekends where you can get some barbacoa and elote(mexican street corn). You can also buy tamales to go, which I never leave without. They are great for quick dinners when I don’t feel like cooking. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu and have been completely satisfied every time. Taco Rock and Taquiera Olgys, are the only two real Mexican restaurants around, in my opinion.

Excellent food and service. Don’t judge by the outside or the décor. This place is a gem of a find! I’m so glad I read the reviews and went here. I would recommend it for sure! I ordered #6 the quesadilla. It was awesome. Good prices too — cheap!

We went to this place because of all the good reviews. I love finding little out of the way places, but this was not what I expected. Everyone said it was super cheap to eat there, but we spent $ 35 for three people. Not to expensive but everyone raved about how cheap they were. The food was not all that great. The enchiladas were salty and cold, but the beans and rice very tasty. My son had machaca and it looked like nothing I had ever seen and he did not like it. The drinks were not impressive as well. We all like good quality Mexican food but we won’t be back.

Let me start from the exterior(3 stars): The sign up high was not lit up, & missing. The parking lot was dark. Hard to tell if the store was open. It was about 6:15p when we arrived. The place looked like it was out of business. We pulled in, and I had to walk up to their«Hours of Operation» sign to check the hours. It was open w/about 1 hour left. The previous times we’ve passed by this place, wasn’t so dark. In fact, the signs were well lit. This btw, was our first time eating here. We always passed it, only to keep driving by. The parking lot was clean though. Just dark. Interior(3.5 stars): The patio floor was wet, but they did have a caution sign out & visible. I realize that it was almost closing time, & were probably closing sections down one by one. I just wished it they didn’t start this yet as this can make guests feel rushed. I used to run a restaurant myself, so I tend to nitpick. The rock & roll photos on the wall, Mexican flagged tables, and painted murals remind me of when my wife & I used to live in Los Angeles. It has a SoCal feel. I liked it. The inside is pretty small, w/about 8 tables(for 2). The patio did have about the same as well. I don’t think the size of the dining area matters as long as the food will satisfy. Food(4 Stars): My wife ordered the Enchiladas. I ordered the Combo #2 which came w/carnitas(pork), refried beans, rice, salad & warm flour tortillas. The meals had big portions. The price was decent & affordable. I won’t take too much time to comment on my wife’s meal as I only had a couple of bites. But it definitely was delicious! My meal was great! The meat was seasoned just right, and was freshly cooked. The beans had just enough salt, and was very tasty. The tortillas were served warm & soft, wrapped in foil. The salad, which is actually what would normally come in a fajita, was the right serving. The guacamole wasn’t strong. That’s a good thing. There wasn’t too much of the sour cream, which was also a good thing. As sometimes this can overpower the other ingredients. Basically, the meal had just the right amount of servings, very tasty & tender meat, perfect seasoning, all served on a big plate. Lastly, and most importantly, the Service(4 Stars): Let’s just say, I would’ve given them 5 stars if they weren’t short staffed(1 person the whole time). The owner was hospitable & friendly. Service was fast enough for having one person. It basically wasn’t busy enough to have more staff, but it was a little busier for one person to handle. It’s one of those«in between» situations where you just have to make the best decision on where you will have the most attainable profit. Understandable. I get it. But most guests may not. My wife & I LOVED the food. We definitely will be back. And probably be regulars. We can’t wait to try their Taco Buffet on Mondays & Tuesdays. Give it a shot. You won’t regret it.

You could drive by this place twice a day for years and immediately dismiss it as not worthy of a visit. You’d be wrong. I have had tacos and burritos here and they are spectacular… better than any of the more popular Mexican places in Pcola. The dishes have spice, but they aren’t spicy hot. Too many(all?) of the Mexican eateries here pump bland, generic food out of their kitchens, probably to appeal to the palates of as many people as possible. Sadly, that makes for crappy Mexican food. It’s akin to an Italian restaurant cooking without garlic. The people that work here are friendly and you can stand by the plexiglass screen and see your food being prepared. James P. called the building«rustic,» but that’s generous… it needs about $ 100,000 in renovation and maintenance. That said, I go there for the food, not for a Chipotle-like, sterile interior. If I didn’t live in Milton, I’d be at this place at least once a week. As it is, I rarely get to that side of town, but I salivate in anticipation of my next visit.
