We returned and brought our kids along this time. It was great! Service was great. Didn’t feel rushed, but we weren’t there late in the evening. The meat was great quality and the salad bar was fresh. It’s pricey, so we can’t go as often as I’d like, but we’ll return again.

Not crazy fancy, but still a nice place. You can choose your own cut from a cooler, and cook it yourself. Or, you can have a chef prepare it. The steaks have never been life changing, but in combination with a salad bar, baked potato, and texas toast, you get a lot of decent food. A bit pricey in my opinion, but not too bad for every once in a while.

Solid 3 stars… As a Caterpillar employee I had many opportunities to eat here and was very seldom lay disappointed. Salad bar is wonderful and filled with all the fresh veggies you would expect plus s few prepared salads for good measure. The meat is always high quality and my only Bad experience was once they mixed up my steak(sirloin instead of ribeye) and once they overcooked my meal(well instead of medium rare). Good selection of beers and alcohol from several bar locations, and plenty of desserts, though I never had room to try them. Prices are slightly above expectations, and ambiance is pier side yacht club. With so many other steak places nearby, this joint does not make the list.

Alexander’s is as great as I remember it being. You can grill your own steak or let them cook it for you. No vegetarian options besides the wonderful salad bar, but you go there for great steaks not the vegetables.

My girlfriend and I decided to dine here for my birthday. I’ve heard from people that this place is nice, but on the expensive end. We decided to give it a try anyway. The location is tucked away and doesn’t seem like its the safest either, especially after dark. We arrived at 7:15 pm. Going from best to worst, salad bar was awesome with many options! Next was our server, Tyson. He was very outgoing and aware. Made sure we had everything we needed at all times, in a timely manner without overly doing so. The only thing that I regret was that I could have grilled my own steak. However, he did not mention this to me thus I did not know about this until I read other reviews on here. Oops! As for the entrée, I ordered a medium-medium rare ribeye steak and got something very close to well done. It was so hard to finish that I will bring it home to my dog instead. For compensation, we got a skillet cookie for free. Although the staff was outgoing, that won’t be enough to bring me back here. Overall, I was not satisfied with the food. Will not be returning and my girlfriend agrees.(I ordered the 20 oz ribeye, 43.99 $). The concept that you can grill your own steak is pretty neat though. I wouldn’t recommend this place but I wouldn’t say bad things about it other than the overcooked steak part. Give it a try if you want but what I WILL recommend is to grill your own steak!

Alexander’s steakhouse normally prepares great meals. Unfortunately, that was not the case for my birthday dinner with my boyfriend. Our waitress, while nice, neglected us. It took an hour to receive our meals. I expected the server to stop by our table and explain that the food would be arriving shortly, but this never happened. Once we received the food, one of the steaks was very much so over cooked. The manager did stop by the table to assess the issue. While he did refund the money for the one steak, I would’ve much preferred the food! Positives for the night include the salad bar and being seated without a reservation. But the poor service, long wait, and murder of a delicious filet mignon took away from the night.

Five stars for service, salad bar, drinks and steaks. One of the best filets I’ve ever had. I’m giving it a four star review because the décor is very tired and run of the mill.

My in laws were super excited to go here. With all of the nice things they had to say about this restaurant, I expected… well I just expected something nicer. The food was average, the menu was unimaginative and the salad bar was reminiscent of a Sizzler(in the nice neighborhood). I was expecting to see toppings for the steak options; carmalized onions, Bleu cheese, sautéed mushrooms… something! Our server was pleasant enough, but not overly accomodating. The kitchy part of this establishment was they give you the option to cook your own steak. Frankly, if I was going to do that, I would just stay home.

We come here each time were in the area. Why– steaks of course, I cook my own and they still come out so tender. Ribeye before and T bone last time, great and tender. This wasnt even a marinated steak, just came out of the cooler you pick. Its a nice experience putting on your own spices and turning your steak as you want to, The restaurants chef is there too, he will assist if you ask. Since the steaks are large, you might split a steak, and thats where you get hit with a sharing fee. The sharer does get a salad bar, grilled toast, and a potato for themselves, this charge could be more reasonable then I would give it 5 stars. We got there right after opening 4:15pm and was not that busy, but hour later was packed. So plan accordingly depends on your taste in crowds.

This is not a super fancy steakhouse, but the steaks are pretty good(not the best I’ve ever had, but definitely my go-to classic steakhouse in Peoria). The service is great, and the menu options are fantastic. The appetizers and sides are wonderful. You’ve got to remember too, that you always have the choice to cook your steak on your own, which can be a fun thing to do for a party. But I usually don’t do that– I paid $ 30 for a steak, I don’t want to have to cook it too! Overall, good place. I’d recommend it to anybody.

It’s not a fancy steakhouse but I really enjoy Alexanders. They have the best Long Island Teas(well worth the money). The salad bar I was disappointed with-the quality was definitely lacking and the lettuce was soaking wet which is a huge turn off to me. The steaks were good quality. We shared the mushrooms which are always fantastic. Our waiter was excellent and extremely helpful and attentive.

My family and I go to Alexander’s several times a year for different special occasions. Almost every time we go, they’re completely packed! When we went yesterday, the place was empty. Even though the place was empty, the food was still somewhat slow getting to us, and our server seemed like we were bothering her. The prices are high but the food is good. You even have the option to cook your meat yourself on open fire grills they have located around the building. All in all, we’ve had good experiences here.

Not a lot of variety in the menu so basically one would go just for steak hut its a neat experience to grill it yourself. And the salad bar is reason enough to go back!(Best salad bar ever!!)

Quality has changed. Not as good as it used to be. Waiter was pissy. He had a headache. 14 people and for the birthday girl she got a one inch square brownie! Won’t go by anytime soon.

What can be said about Alexander’s place? You have the option to cook your own juicy steak and garlic bread. Before you choose to do that, you are welcomed into the salad bar realm. Voted best salad bar in Peoria, this extraordinary bar has all you need to make your perfect salad. You have the option to have it tossed for you but I wouldn’t recommend that. From the 9 – 10 times I’ve been there, our servers have always been spot on and quick. Don’t remember the servers name but she had long hair, a nose, and an Alexander’s uniform. If you leave still hungry you did it wrong. Cheers to you my fellow Unilocalers and if you want to have a night out on the town and eat some good steak, Alexander’s is the way to go. Unless you’re vegetarian. Then you can just get the hell out.

I came to Alexander’s after hearing good reviews from locals and after the experience, I feel it was just an average steakhouse. The service was warm and friendly but what I had issues with was the quality of the meat cuts. I ordered a filet cut at medium rare and what I received was a tougher, highly seared outside but a red inside, not pink. The additional sides such as toast, salad, and potatoes were also just average and didn’t stand out as anything special. There was some good stuff however. I thought the calamari was very good as there were larger cuts of the squid and not too much batter. Also the pan cooked cookie with ice cream was pretty good but this isn’t that difficult to make so I’d expect this already.

Get the F out! Place was filled with smoke. Cook doing our steaks flipped them SEVENHUNDRED times. One flip dude. Just one. Steak may have been decent if it wasn’t beaten to death on the grill. If you are a steak place your cooks should probably, possibly, maybe, perhaps know how to cook a steak??? Just spitballing here. Decent beer selections though.

Hmm… I don’t know what to say… FAIL! here with a big party and seriously smoke was everywhere. The plates were chipped and cracked. The guy grilling the steaks flipped them a million times… Seriously I don’t grill often but I know you only flip ONCE!!! Ga-Ross. I feel bad for the people that say that this is the best restaurant in Peoria.

I’ve been here twice now, and the first visit was exceedingly better than the second. Our most recent was on Father’s Day. We expected them to be busy so we were prepared for that. Our group all opted to have our food cooked for us rather than grilling it ourselves. I ordered the filet kabob, which was served with the vegetables and meat on separate skewers. That sort of defeats the purpose of a kabob, you know? The filet skewer was overdone; the vegetables were underdone. Our group was also informed at the time we ordered that they were out baked potatoes. And yet, as we sat there, we counted no fewer than 57 baked potatoes leaving the grill next to our seating area. I’m sure some of it was trying to budget the potatoes for the rest of the evening, but it was disappointing to essentially be lied to, particularly because we saw five potatoes waiting to be grilled as we were leaving(there were six of us in our group). Our server comped us dessert over the baked potato thing, but never explained what was going on. Our visit a year ago was much, much better than this one — the food was better(we grilled our food ourselves on that visit) and it was a more positive experience. Bottom line: Don’t go on Father’s Day or any other big days where people will be out in droves.
