This review has to do with the store itself not how BARD as a company can do their wrongdoings. The service was excellent for both me and my friend. I needed my bifocals adjusted and she did it so quickly. The pekin store had messed them up but at this location she told me different things about bifocals i didnt know and with my certain kind the nose pads had to be further apart to go down my nose more so the vision isnt such a drastic change when raising my head up and down. She tightened them perfectly around my ears the first try. The manager worked on the Pekins mess of my buddies glasses and got them the best they had been since they were new. Very friendly and fast service. I found my new BARD!

The facility is nice, but my problem is their billing department and they were extremely miss leading on their insurance policies. I received a bill months after I had ordered contacts for a $ 60 dollar charge, so I called the number to inquire about it and the lady who answered said she didn’t have the time to look into it because she was leaving in 10 minutes and that she would call me back the following Monday. I never received a phone call only another bill. This back and forth would go on for some time of looking for and explanation, and being told I would receive a phone call that never came. They only try and nickel and dime you with hopes of explanation, but that never comes. Skip this place and see who your insurance actually approves.

The doctor & exam experience was great — but the business model leaves a LOT to be desired. :(Not trustworthy! «Comprehensive Contact Exam» does NOT include lens fit or refraction like every other reputable place — so instead of $ 89 it is $ 174.(If you join the«discount contact club» it’s $ 104.50). They were unresponsive and rude about my pre & post appointment requests to not have to deal with any 3rd party rebate schemes again.(I had to show them that it was easy to see that several manufactures use the same 3rd party rebate center by looking at the rebate form phone number and hours.) The office manager was snarky & rude(interrupted) and suggested that I «just not send in the rebate if I didn’t want to deal with it.» Obviously not problem solvers and resentful that I was attempting to make them concerned about my health care costs. According to the office manager I am the first person she has ever encountered that has had concerns like this — which I called BS on since the doctor himself acknowledged that other customers had complained about having trouble with the rebates. Not looking out for my best interests as far as ordering contacts goes plus the obfuscation of hidden costs in the comprehensive exam makes them untrustworthy. The prices for one year of my contacts from Bard Optical was $ 522(with $ 100 unreputable rebate it was $ 422). I could find the EXACT same lenses online from withOUT the rebate for under $ 288. After a day and repeated calls Bard Optical claims that they don’t sell ANY contacts without rebates attached. Supposedly Bard Optical does price matching(if you bother them enough about their prices) but only up to 25% and not from what they call«unreputable places like contactlensking.com» because«they are non US companies and sell inferior products.» So add slander to the list of things wrong at Bard Optical! CLK is a NV company selling the exact same products. The Unilocal score for Bard Optical is 3.5 and for CLK is 4.5 out of 5 stars. BBB gives Bard Optical an F rating and CLK an A+ rating. Guess who I think is more reputable? Oh — and CLK doesn’t operate under a dba like Bard Optical aka Jak Enterprises, Inc. I don’t care how long they have been in business… scams and cons can last a long time! Not worth the hassle of going thru their office when I have to do all the research myself! Much easier to file the claim for contacts directly with my insurance than to deal with the bogus rebate company — plus it will save me over twice as much! Next year I’m going to COSTCO or Wal-mart for my exam; clear pricing without the shell game sounds like a much better way to serve my vision needs!
