I’ve shopped the Peoria area for sixty years. Grocer prices are competitive for like items. Dollar for dollar Peoria prices are less costly than in smaller towns. The difference is in local taxes and the store cost for products. Smaller volume = higher prices in any store.
All Schnucks employees are terrific with handicap and senior shoppers regardless of the situation. Need help? Ask at the Service counter.
I’ve shopped Schnucks stores in Peoria, Pekin, and Springfield for 4 – 5 years. I asked to pick up a product only sold in the Peoria store in Pekin. I did. The Peoria store manager, Jay, is a problem solver who is easy to work with at any time.
The Peoria store has a big footprint as it opened inside two former stores in the Metro Center. The floor plan was laid out much like California stores. As a consequence there are large selections of most items, and several aisles of fresh fruit and vegetables that are rotated daily. Specialties include hot carry out foods, deli with fresh meat and cheese, fish, exotic and imported foods.
As a whole this store is clean, and staff is attentive. Unlike other stores, Schnucks store managers are generally found on the floor working or with staff or customers.
Schnucks stores accept cash, check, credit, debit, and LINK cards.
I would like to see staff more visible throughout all the stores.

Great selection, mediocre prices, and poor staff make this a decent store that could use some help. This store probably offers the biggest selection of grocery but the price and staff make it less desirable. It does offer delivery service which is a great option.

I usually use this Schnucks grocery delivery service. However the times I’ve been in the actual store I’ve always had a pleasant experience.
In Store Experience:
Good:
Clean, organised store with a huge variety of products. Also, on one occasion the employee who helped me find an item was very courteous and didn’t make me feel like an idiot. On another occasion when an item rung up a higher price at the till than what it should have been, the cashier was also courteous and even made polite small talk about the item in question while another employee ran back to check the price. They didn’t make me feel like I was lying or being difficult and they apologized for the inconvenience.
Bad:
The price problem from above. The prices are a wee bit higher than Wal-​Mart. The deli and meat departments seemed under staff, I and other customers were waiting for several minutes just to place an order. However the staff was always polite and it was a busy Friday.
Delivery Experience:

Shopping online = convenience! The shoppers who do my shopping are very polite and smart! For example; if you order hot dog buns, but the hot dogs you also ordered are out of stock and you didn’t ask for a substitution they will call you and ask if you still want the buns. Same goes with produce and expired items. I don’t get smashed veggies/​fruits or ‘1 day left before expiration’ items. They shop like they’re buying for their own family. The delivery drivers are so courteous! I live in a apartment building and they bring the groceries right to my door!
Bad:
The online site needs an upgrade. It looks and feels out of date. It doesn’t list everything the store stocks and some of the items may not be stocked by this particular Schnucks. The site is actually for several Schnucks that deliver. So one store may stock one item but another store may not. Easy way to get around that is to actually call the store and ask or go to the manufactures site and see if that particular Schnucks stocks that item with the ‘Locate store nearest you’ feature.

Great supermarket. It’s big, it’s clean and they’ve got a great selection. The bakery and produce areas are definitely a highlight.
Yes, the prices can be a little higher but nothing crazy. Plus, I’m just going on a feeling there, I’ve never actually compared prices. I feel like the selection and clean facilities make it worth a little more here and there.

Prices are 1 ½ times what Kroger’s are unless it’s on sale. Staff is confused and undertrained. Prepare to wait a very, very long time if there are any «issues.» Something I bought was clearly marked with a sticker on the shelf, but rang up much higher. I actually walked back and GOT THE STICKER and showed the clerk. She somehow involved 5 other people and made me wait 10 minutes even though the UPC codes matched (so the price I told her was right). I told the clerk that I was really embarrassed and actually started to walk out when one of the other assistant managers tried to make me feel better by giving that 1 item to me free. Schnuck’s. Awful place. I’ll never, ever go back.
