Best Eel roll in Peoria! Friendly staff and very good sushi. Their specials were interesting too. Reasonable prices. You order by checking items off on a menu. I thought it was a waste of paper, but it helps them separate orders for each guest.

Coming from Chicago my husband(who has an obsession with sushi) and I were looking for a really legit and delicious sushi place. I love rolls and my husband loves Sake Don or Chirash Don entrees, Nigiri, and Sashimi. Sushigawa does all of these things right! The quality of the fish is by far one of… If not the best in Peoria. Unlike other places we have been to around here… They have the best sushi. We both always look for authentic sushi and this is the place to go in Peoria.

Sushi Gawa is a good place. Solid 4 stars. I got the sashimi dinner over rice and the jalapenos stuffed with spicy tuna and fried tempura style. Appetizer was very good, but not very spicy like I was hoping for. Maybe a more spicy sauce or put some of that fresh wasabi in it(which by the way was awesome and will seriously light you up). Sashimi pieces were sliced way too thin, but the quality of the fish was so high it made me forget about the cut. The dinner was a very good deal at $ 20. Presentation was great. The pickled veggies, microgreens, and mushrooms were a very nice touch. Service was run of the mill for this area, yet attentive. Setting seems odd as it is in between a Guitar Center and 5 guys, but inside is very nice and would make a good date spot. I may try the Lunch specials later this week.

Nice presentation, very clean and terrific service. Worth a stop in for some of the better Sushi I have had in Peoria.

pros — restaurant is clean and well lit. Sushi presentation is very nice. Cons — miso soup is saltier than it should be, in my opinion. Sushi is ok, although unagi had a sweet sauce which I didn’t care for. Sushi rice could be improved with a bit more flavor.

only the rolls and wudong is very good, but the sushi and tempura is soso, the fried outside is very thick and the shrimp inside is over ripped. If they will offer photo menu that would be very nice for customer choosing what they like. Becuz this one is not a standard Japanese sushi. But for normal meal is ok.

Sushi Gawa. Visiting Peoria on business. Had the taste for sushi but was concerned about finding a good place in the area. Turned to my friends at Unilocal and you guy pointed me to this location. Thank you for the great advice! Loved the taste and presentation! Go with the large sake. Why would anyone order a small.

Sushi Gawa is tucked away in a strip mall off the interstate. The space is quite small compared to all of the other stores in the strip. The restaurant is one room with many tables. However, the tables are arranged so it creates the illusion of sections. We were seated quickly at a 4 person table because that was one of the only seats that were open. On a Wednesday night, it was actually very busy. There were only two waitresses that were serving everyone. Ordering at Sushi Gawa is easy because they give you a paper menu that you mark what you would like to order. The menu also has the prices next to the dish. I found this to be helpful because some sushi bars do not have this. I ordered the Alaskan and Spider rolls. My friend ordered the edamame. Our sushi was out in less than 5 minutes. So Fast! The edamame seemed to be an endless basket for such a small price! They steamed and salted it so you could taste the flavor when you squeeze the pod out with your teeth. The alaskan was a «no frills» sushi as that it did not have any sauce or seasoning. I appreciate this because sushi that they eat in Japan is not decorated as it is in America. The Spider roll had fried crab in it. I felt like the friedness overwhelmed the crab because I couldn’t taste the crab. The individual pieces were also very large, enough for me to take three comfortable bites. One of my favorite parts about Sushi Gawa is that you can make the experience as casual or as fancy as you would like. I saw two girls in jeans and hoodies and I saw two businessmen in shirts and ties. I look forward to coming back to Sushi Gawa and eating their nigiri and some of their other selections.

Wonderfully presented and excellent sushi. They never fail to prepare quality sushi from fresh Inge Ingredients. I had a rainbow roll and a shrimp/crab roll. My husband had beef teriyaki. He was pleased with his choose too

Sushigawa is our go-to sushi house for the Peoria area. While there are others, which are worth going to for their specialties, Sushigawa has many reasons for being our favorite. First, I always judge a good sushi house by two dishes: Futo Maki and Agudeshi Tofu. For the Peoria area, Sushigawa makes the best. When in stock, they also have the best Mochi. Very kid friendly. They nearly always offer cheaters for our kids. They also have Japanese Strawberry Soda, which my girls love. We usually order the Rainbow role, which is very good. And I always get a large hot sake. Been here more times than I can count and have always had a great meal. Finally, they offer take-out. On a typical weeknight, I’ll pop in to order take-home sushi, then stop two doors down for Fresh Market for light grocery shopping.

I’ve eaten at a lot of different sushi places, and Sushi Gawa has been my favorite for a long time. Always great and friend service. The food is served in a timely fashion and is always excellent. Some of the best Miso soup I’ve had anywhere.

My go-to in town for sushi. Never too heavy on the rice and the fish is always very fresh. Just a heads up, the Oceans 11 roll has A LOT of cilantro in it. I enjoyed it but some others in my party were sensitive to the flavor and it wasn’t advertised as having cilantro. No complaints otherwise! Best sushi in town!

Super Fresh. Super Tasty. Super good service. Saw that a few people said rolls were too big… if anything they could have been bigger. Maybe they saw the comments and made a change. Nigiri was super good too. Fish tasted fresh. Will eat here every time I am in town now.

Good food and good service. We come here at least once a month to eat. I have never been disappointed by something I have ordered here. We always ask for Jane when we eat here because she is so nice and remembers exactly what we want. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are looking for good sushi.

Love sushi and seafood — and unfortunately found Sushi Gawa just ok. I can say not all items on their menu are created equally well. First the staff are very friendly and helpful and the restaurant is very clean. I had: — seaweed salad and it was good — ebi tempura roll was tasteless — dragon roll was tasteless(actually tasted almost identical to ebi tempura roll) — unagi sashimi was very good — masago sushi was good too So maybe I tried the wrong thing — but the two rolls were pretty tasteless and very disappointing.
