Wow! For a neighborhood corner store this place has got it down! Super fresh ingredients, extensive menu filled with local faves and haole food. Shave ice was yummy! Stopped by for lunch and came back a few hours later for shave ice. Super friendly staff and the store will surprise you with basic needs. Def’ coming back!

We had our first Hawaiian shave ice of our trip here! Extremely pleasant staff, tasty shave ice, and a pretty drive leading here on Old Mamalahua Rd. Stop by if you’re in the area!

Tasty food for lunch, but waits for a sandwich can be mind numbing even if its not crowded

Nice laid back little General store that offered some good grub. My husband and I stopped into this place after leaving the Hawaii Botanical Gardens and heading to Akaka Falls. I enjoyed the Island Nachos which were loaded with lots of great stuff(pork, pineapple salsa, cheese, sour cream). My husband had the Kahula Pig Plate that he said was all right. Great stop with large portions to fuel the hikes for the remainder of our day.

Had lunch here. Tasty and reasonable for prices. Would be nice to have a little macaroni salad with the sandwich, but the food was fresh and tasty. Pickles the cat is cute. We would return.

Oh man… The food was so good I cant believe it. Take the extra 2 minutes to drive off the highway. It will be worth it! Oh, also some cool local gifts and pepple were smiling ear to ear with shaved ice in hand.

Great experience all around! They had a vast menu with local Hawaiian dishes as well as some great burgers, we ordered their house special nachos with Kailua pork and they were delicious! They also carry my favorite local ice cream in perfect little containers, they had great seating options, and beautiful local fruit on sale in bins outside as well. Love these guys!

I love the dehydrated bananas, they go fast so I always stop by to check if they have fresh ones and buy two packs. Try a smoothie or a wrap too, they are super good!

This is a small stand serving a variety of delicious fresh food and smoothies. They have vegetarian options on the menu as well. The eatery is inside a market, to get other snacks/drinks that you need if your on a road trip. They have a few tables to eat outdoors, and fill to go orders.

Where else can you get the Full Hawaii Monty… lau lau, pulled pork, two(not one) scoops of rice, kimchee, tomato salsa Hawaiian style, a fruit-only smoothie, all for about $ 20, and a few flies as guests? We ate on the patio overlooking the«Scenic Route» sign, serenaded by bamboo chimes a few feet away. The smoothie was yummy, and service consisted of a few built guys(feast for the eyes). One downside: no bathroom on premises. And, to top it all off, you can get papaya for a buck, hand-selected by one of the cuties!

Awesome local shop with the best kahlua pork nachos and best beef burgers. Price is a steal, service is friendly and the neighborhood is peaceful. Nice stop before visiting the botanical gardens.

This was an impulse stop on our way out of a stroll in the botanical gardens. We were happy we did and this is why: 1. The food choices were vast considering their locale. 2. The food was great. I recommend the Island Nachos and Kona coffee ice cream. 3. Staff was friendly including Pickles, the cat. 4. The location! It sits in the perfect intersection of touristy passage amdist residential areas so you can eat on their porch as you watch and interact, if you like, with true Hawaiians come and go. All in all it was a great impulse stop.

I’ve often found that small little shops that may not look like much on the outside many times have great food. Such is the case for Low Store. We were doing something in the area, I think the botanical gardens nearby, and got hungry. Off to the store! The Good: — Kailua pork plate — BLT — Hamburger curry — Croissant sandwich — Island nachos — All the food we ordered was good. I don’t think I’d get the hamburger curry again, but that wasn’t because it wasn’t good. That’s just not my preference. — Easy to find — Well kept — Very friendly staff. The Not So Good: — Not a lot of seating, so if you plan to eat there, you might not be able to. — Only serves food until 5:30pm so not so great for late dinners. Bottom Line: Great place to get some lunch or early dinner when you are exploring the island. We didn’t get shave ice or breakfast so we can’t comment on those. But for our experience, 4 stars!

Absolutely loved this place! Teeny tiny little place but had the best local vibe, the guys making the food were wonderful and super friendly. The Low Burger was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had(a burger with Kalua pork and teriyaki? yes please!) Definitely check this place out if you’re in Hilo!
