My husband and I were driving from Chicago to Florida and he wanted to stop in Perry for some barbecue for lunch. He goes hunting in Georgia each February and he and his friends usually stop at another place to eat on their way; however, he told me to find a new place to try. I read the reviews of Grillmaster BBQ and we decided to stop. We are so glad we did! The smokers are behind the restaurant, so the aroma filled the air. Inside the small restaurant – probably seats just over 20 or so people– were all locals having lunch. We placed our order at the counter and in a few minutes were served a great meal. My husband had the bbq pork plate with sides of incredible potato salad and baked beans. I had the bbq pork sandwich with a side of delicious cole slaw. I should have just ordered the«Larry Walker,» which is the bbq pork sandwich with cole slaw on top, because I ended putting most of it on my sandwich. This place is definitely worth checking out if you are in the area. On top of the food being so good, the people were extremely friendly and welcoming and the restaurant was immaculate.

One of my favorite barbecue spots in Georgia. Love their vinegar based sauce; the ribs are excellent and the pulled pork is very good too! I live about an hour away but anytime I have an excuse to be in the area I make sure to go there!

We stayed overnight at the Crossroads Holiday Trav-L-Park and Grillmasters is right at the entrance. With a coupon for 15% off and a love for bbq, we decided to give it a chance. I am particularly picky about my potato salad, but my husband had gotten a free sample and he assured me that it was«divine». He wasn’t far off. The turkey I got was juicy and the green beans were nicely seasoned. Although they were out of brisket, they gave my husband a free sausage link with his ribs to make up «the difference». The service was great and the food we got«to go» was better. I definitely plan to eat here again when we’re in the area.

Looking for some great BBQ from amazing and welcoming locals? This is your place. Everything was fantastic. Skip Applebee’s and try a great local place instead. Potato salad isn’t usually a favorite side of mine but this guy’s was something I won’t soon forget. The BBQ plate was great and his sauce was unique(although the meat was good enough that you don’t even need the sauce).

A really great road trip stop for a number of reasons: 1. Easy, fast and, better then fast food 2. outside and inside tables 3. Super nice and friendly people who work there 4. The BBQ is REALLY Good! If you’re like us, you want to stop for a meal but don’t want to take a long time to do it. You also don’t want to eat junk so this place just taste and feels good. You’re not going to think«holy cow this is he best BBQ I ever had» but you will leave going, «wow, that was perfect and just what we needed!» Enjoy and feel good about stopping by this roadside BBQ hotspot.

So very delicious. We had pork sandwich, ribs, collards, stew and potato salad. Every thing was amazingly good. Place is tiny with only about 24seats. And it is rustic(totally not take a romantic date). But for a bare bones operations the food is outstanding. And yes, although out side, the bathrooms are very clean. It is a smoked meat place, which is my favorite. Sauce was jus right. Potato salad was crazy good. Hubby said the collards were like his grandmother used to make. Try this place. The guy appreciates your business.

We stopped here on the first day of a 45 day road trip with an emphasis on finding some great BBQ. Looked on Unilocal and read the reviews. Sounded really good. If you are really a BBQ buff, you will be sorely disappointed. The brisket had not been smoked nearly long enough and had to be sliced very thin in order to make it tender enough to chew. The pork ribs were over cooked, falling off the bone and dry. The pulled pork was the best of their offerings but not memorable or mentionable. The best thing on the menu was the potato salad and a multi-layered caramel iced cake. So if you are hungry for BBQ, try the cake and don’t waste your time or money at Grill Master in Perry, GA.

Awesome Angus brisket plate, I highly recommend it. This is a quintessential south GABBQ stop; small, quaint diner with excellent food.

Who knew a little place out in rural GA would be so good! My brisket sandwich was flavorfully smokey and nice complemented by the tangy BBQ sauce available. It’s a more of a vinegar based sauces it seems which is probably very different from what mainstream BBQ sauce looks like. The portion size on the main dish are smaller than other BBQ places I’ve been too though. I’m a big guy so I like big BBQ :) The sides are great as well, and the owner I presume, let us try some potato salad and collard greens. The potato salad was probably some of the best I’ve ever had. It was a well balanced blend of herbs, potatoes, and wasn’t drowning in mayo or mustard. Their is an art to cooking collard greens because they can be bitter as hell if not cooked right. The greens were cooked in nice broth with bits of meat too add a nice full flavor. The set up is in what appears to be a former gas station which is kind of cool. They allow pets outside and have some cornhole boards to kill the time. A great place to stop by in you’re headed to FL or southern GA and want quick BBQ instead of chain restaurants or fast food.

Excellent food(we had the bbq pork sandwich with coleslaw, potato salad, and brisket), and the owner couldn’t have been more friendly. I wish we had saved room for the fantastic looking layer cake in the cooler! Highly recommend giving this place a try and we will definitely visit again when passing through. Cheers!

We were heading down to Florida for the summer & we decided it was time to stop & have some lunch. This place had some great reviews, so we stopped in & try it out. This place is literally right off the I-75. It’s located it what looks to be an old service station maybe? I only say that because the restrooms are located on the outside, in the back of the building. I was expecting the restrooms to be a little, you know, but the men’s was fresh & clean. We had looked over the menu online so we had somewhat of an idea what we wanted. We arrive around 11:15am & there were one or two people inside. We walked up to the counter & were greeted by Brad the owner. He was very friendly & asked if we’d been here before, & explained the menu. I decided on the BBQ pork plate & picked the BBQ beans & cole slaw as my side. Phillip picked the BBQ pork sandwich with a side of the potato salad. We picked our seats & waited. Our orders were called about 5 minutes after we ordered. For the $ 9.75 price I was surprised with the amount of food. You get a large portion of pork, two pieces of bread, & two sides. The BBQ beans tasted really good, they didn’t taste like the kind that comes from a can. They were severed a little on the cold side for me. I’m not sure if that’s a regular thing or not, but I’d rather have them served warm. The slaw was fresh & didn’t taste of mayo like a lot of slaw can be covered in. All the food tastes like they make it right in the back and not from a container. A lot of BBQ places focus on the BBQ& not the sides, this place is concerned with the whole plate. As for the pork, it was very flavorful & seasoned will. It was moist & went along great with the sauce they have. I wouldn’t call it BBQ sauce because a lot of people have an idea of what that should be. This was more like a BBQ hot sauce. It’s a vinegar based sauce with a little heat on it. I like hot so it was fine with me. I made two open faced sandwiches with the pork & still had tons left over to fork into my mouth. This place is staying in my bookmarks of places to eat along I-75. If you’re in the area is a MUST.

Stopped in for the first time today. The service was really good. The gentleman that took our order was very friendly. Our food was ready within 10 minutes. The BBQ sandwich was very good. We also tried the rib sandwich. We did not like the ribs. The ribs were dry and lacking flavor. The location is easy to find and has a lot of southern charm. There was even live entertainment! A nice place to grab a good BBQ sandwich.

This place is as true to classic, done the right way, BBQ as I think you’ll find in middle Georgia. I ordered the brisket platter with 2 sides and some pulled pork. The brisket is good, but if you’ve ever had Texas brisket you’ll compare it and… well…Grill Master just doesn’t stack up. The sides I had were potato salad and baked beans. Both made in house, and both fantastic! The pork is simply amazing! The owner was very welcoming and chatted for quite awhile. It’s as if he sincerely wants to hear«your story» and I liked that. He also provided a sample of the pulled pork, Brunswick stew, and collard greens. Pork=5 Stars, Stews=5 Stars, Greens=3.5 Stars. Overall, if you want good BBQ stop into Grill Masters. I will, again and again.

Love this place. I like the sauce it’s not too sweet or ketchup like, I add a few drops of hot sauce and pepper sauce to kick it up. Every thing I’ve tried has been great. Brunswick stew, ribs, brisket and potato salad is excellent and they have people coming in picking up cakes all the time so they must be good but I’ve never eaten any because I’m binging on flesh. I eat there as much as I can when I’m in town or passing through.

Great bbq sandwiches. Some of the best Brunswick stew and collars greens we have had. Perfect place to stop by on your way through town. Right off the highway. My father, a good olé boy from Mississippi said«the collard greens are just right» on top of the good food was the amazing service. There is obvious passion running this joint. Oh and clean bathrooms, which is always a plus.

This little spot is FANTASTIC! — the pulled pork sandwich was delicious — the baked beans were the best southern beans we’ve tasted. — the potatoe salad had a unique taste to it but very good — very fresh — clean inside and out — good caring people Overall everything tastes like your mom made it with love. Thumbs up to Brad on running this little family owned restaurant.
