I had a cupcake from Sipos not too long ago and if I ever have another one it would be because the apocalypse is upon us and the only food available are Sipos dry and tasteless cupcakes. I cannot comment on Sipos other baked goods because I have never tried them I can only comment on the awful cupcake it had. It was dry dry dry and dry also horrendously bad.

their bread is basically the carbohydrate form of crack, like best I have had in the USA, so worth the trip! very old school bakery. a wide variety of both eastern European and Latin American style tasty baked goods. tried the wonderful rye bread, the poppy seed sweet bread(i guess kinda like a variation of babka anyways whatever it is called it is heavenly), some little prune jam filled pastries which I guess are Hungarian or Polish or something like that. they have a huge array of fresh baked stuff, and the bread is just fantastic. very reasonable prices. a pretty big building with their own parking lot about back, open until 6 pm every day. they serve coffee. all kinds of cookies, pastries, and such which are hard to resist for immediate consumption whilst you make purchases to take home. I definitely plan to journey to Perth Amboy in future so as to be able to shop here, and stop for lunch at one of the countless tasty and reasonably priced Dominican, Mexican, and Puerto Rican eateries in the area while I am at it. this place is a no brainer, if you like baked goods, you basically must try it! if you are anti-wheat or gluten free or whatever, then i guess you should stay far away.

Sipos’ has been a family favorite for 50 years and is good as it has ever been. I don’t know if the store is under Hungarian ownership any more, given the changing ethnic makeup of the city, but they have maintained the selection and quality of Hungarian and Polish favorites quite admirably. It goes without saying that their rye breads are still the best around, and their cakes and pastries are uniformly excellent. And maybe most importantly, Sipos’ is probably one of the only places left in NJ where one can get decent, genuine Kaiser rolls(which are miles above what supermarket bakeries try to pass off as a Kaiser). I’d give them 5 stars based on the Kaiser Rolls alone!

This bakery has the most delicious rye bread I have ever eaten. A small bread with caraway seeds is $ 1.75, and you can ask for it to be sliced. They also have Russian rye, with black poppy seeds, also very good. This bakery serves authentic Hungarian and Polish treats like apple strudels, cookies with fillings like apricot, prune, chocolate or walnut, Csoroge– special fried dough cookies with powdered sugar and many others. They have delicious challah bread, potato bread and other special Hungarian breads. You can see the giant bakery in the back with cool looking equipment– I want to go on a tour!
