I’ve purchased most of their breads. Healthy, reasonably priced, and locally made. My favorite is the flax seed bread. Not the tastiest of their breads, but I feel better knowing how healthy it is. Tip: Trader Joes generally has the best prices on their breads. My only complaint is that I can’t try all their products. I have yet to see the sourdough or cinnamon raisin breads in a local grocery store.

Love this bread. I love that it’s from whole sprouted grains. I really like the sprouted sourdough. This bread is made from very good ingredients.

Little did I know that Petaluma was famous for something else beside chickens. Recently started taking my calorie consumption a little more seriously as my metabolism seems to be s-l-o-w-ing with the years. Trying to find a «healthy» bread with a reasonable calorie load I lucked on to Alvarado’s California style sprouted wheat berry bread and it’s a keeper. Delicious, lighter than you might think, nutty and makes one hell of a PBJ. Pretty widely available — I found mine in Denver so I’m sure it’s all over Northern California — enjoy.

My honey and I were yearning for burgers one evening for dinner. Okay, it’s a pit stop at Nob Hill because I wanted my bottles of Sweet Leaf Tea, too. We got to the bread aisle and they didn’t have the Oroweat hamburger buns(whole wheat) that we usually buy. I did not want the Sara Lee brand… yep I am very picky on my breads and buns. Inventory was low on whole wheat breads, buns, rolls, etc. The choices we had were Alvarado Street Bakery Sprouted Burger Buns(100% Whole Grain) or Sara Lee hamburger buns. The Sara Lee pack had 8 buns and the Alvarado had 6 buns. Alvarado was pricier than Sara Lee, but ingredient-wise the former was healthier than the latter. Here it is, our first time trying a different brand of burger buns. Will it be something that we enjoy and will we buy the product again in the future? Answer: yes, yes! Alvarado’s sprouted burger buns are made with«organic sprouted wheat berries, organic whole wheat flour, filtered water, honey, wheat gluten, fresh yeast, sea salt, soy based lecithin, cultured wheat.» Their buns are«made in a bakery that DOESNOT use peanuts, tree nuts, or dairy products.»(Quoted information from their bag.) These buns were not only great for burgers, but also toast with butter and organic blackberry jam; and a fried egg sandwich. Forget Oroweat whole wheat hamburger buns, I found a truly wonderful organic 100% whole grain burger buns made by Alvarado Street Bakery. I also look forward to trying their cinnamon raisin bread, sprouted wheat bagels and tortillas. Finally, when one sees products from Alvarado Street Bakery, do not walk away. Purchase their breads, buns, bagels, tortillas, etc., your body will appreciate it… LOL.

BBE = Best Bread Ever !!! Not light & spongy, not dense & flavorless, these breads are just right. Made with spouted whole grains, the kind Dr. Oz recommends. The rye, you taste the rye not too light, not too heavy. The cinnamon raisin bread is my breakfast favorite. Overall, I’ll put this bread along side any other brand and I feel that overall, you’ll find Alvarado Street Bakery bread to be superior in every way. No corn syrup and inferior ingredients in these products, just the real thing. We by it online by the case. Keep up the great work, we appreciate it and so do our bodies;) Alvarado Street Bakery breads, ROCK !!!

I love Alvarado Street Bakery. This is the corporate office but I’m reviewing their products. I only eat bread from Alvarado. They are delicious and nutritious — my favorite is the sprouted barley bread. I also love the reference to Alvarado St in Los Angeles, which happens to be my home town. Thanks for making such quality products.
