Azari hosted us for a little birthday wine tasting session. It was casual, affordable, delicious and fun. Cyrus is a great host. He served us an excellent full bodied Pinot Noir and an amazing Cab. Everyone in SF should consider this winery next time they want a getaway to wine country.

Azari was amazing! We called last minute to see if we could make an appointment and he said we could come right then, which was great! Cyrus was a great host — he had a lot to say about the wine-making process. Some people in our party thought he had too much to say, but as a home-brewer myself I love hearing about the process and the choices that go into each bottle of wine. Since we were there at the end of the day he poured us just a little bit extra too, which was lovely. :) AND they made us wood-fired pizza and it was amazing. We bought a bottle of the Rose, which was fabulous and just right for a warm day.(We drank it the other night — just as delicious as we remembered!) Their reds were also fantastic. Prices are what you would expect for nice wines up in wine country(~$ 70 for the reds). They had good prices for weddings/private events too(we’re getting married, so we’re asking around various places).

Well, you don’t have to go all the way to Napa or Sonoma for great wine any more! It’s right in Petaluma — 1 hour north of SF. This has got to be my new FAVORITE winery! Due to the great ratings Azari Vineyards received in Unilocal,we figured it’d be worth the drive. And yes it was! The place is amazing with a rustic/Mediterranean feel to the grounds and epic views of the rolling hills and vineyard. The host Cyrus, whose family owns and operates this artisanal winery is warm, welcoming, and made our party feel right at home. We enjoyed his company as much as we did the wine. And the wines his family makes are top notch! We enjoyed the sunlight coming through the elegant red and maroon colors of the glass as we sipped delicious taste after taste of some of the best of what the winery has to offer. I HIGHLY recommend taking a trip to this Shangri-La of wineries in the Petaluma area! Your first time will not be your last time :) Oh yeah… he also cooks delicious home-made firewood brick-oven pizzas for his guests and there are two adorable dogs tromping around as well! By appointment only —(707) 347‑9846 Enjoy! And Cyrus… you ROCK!

Fantastic! Cyrus is an impeccable host, serving up delicious wine, much of it grown right there on the property. To boot, he whips up wood-fired pizzas from scratch as you chat vino and all things lovely! My two buddies and I had such a great time there that we could barely leave. On top of all this they’ve got two adorable mascots that you might catch sitings of, plus a view that is exactly what we dream of when looking for that«just right» winery to savor.

Azari was our first stop of the day, but we never made it anywhere else! Cyrus was beyond hospitable, he makes sure you’re enjoying yourself, but isn’t meddling. We ended up purchasing a bottle to drink while we sat outside enjoying the gorgeous landscape. Their Pinot Noir is just superior and their Luma Blanc was such a tasty Reisling we went home with both! They clearly know how to take care of their guests ensuring their utmost comfort and enjoyment. Adam serves up handcrafted wood fired pizza as a fabulous accompaniment to their delicious wine! We can’t wait to go back!

I corresponded with Cyrus to set up a tasting appointment ahead of time. We were not disappointed when we arrived. The property is beautiful, the wines are outstanding and the hospitality was top notch. I am a huge fan of Pinot Noir and love a great Rose. Both of these wines were excellent. My husband is a Cabernet fan and he thoroughly enjoyed Azari’s Cabernet. The fruit came from the Rutherford region of Napa, and was really nice. Then again, the Chardonnay was delicious too. I love the fact that this winery is a boutique winery with a gorgeous setting. We were delighted to be offered a handmade pizza to go along with our tasting. There really is nothing like a fresh pizza just cooked in an outside pizza oven. A big thank you to our host, Cyrus, as we thoroughly enjoyed learning all about the winery his father started. And, a big thank you to, Adam, for making a nice pizza for us to enjoy. We will enjoy the wine we purchased and be back again with friends. This winery is certainly a beautiful desination winery that produces approximately 2,000 cases a year. I love the fact that pay great attention to detail as it shows in their fine wines.

Came out here with a group of friends and have a wonderful time. Cyrus is incredibly welcoming and was able to answer any questions we had about wine. After having some of the homemade wood fired brick oven pizza, made right in front of us as we were tasting the wines, we were given a tour of the grounds. Cyrus always had something really interesting to tell us at each point in the tour. Everyone of us enjoyed our trip here, and would definitely come back again in the future.

My mom and I made a last minute trip to Petaluma during Memorial Day and Azari Vineyards was one of our stops. honestly, we almost skipped it, but Cyrus was so accommodating on the phone we had to stop in for a sip of wine. We’re glad we did! Cyrus and Azari exceeded our expectations! We were greeted by charming Cyrus and his family’s beautiful vineyard. AND that PIZZA… Delicious! Thank you for the lovely afternoon. love, Kayla and Claire

Awesome family vineyard! Most wineries feel like a business but they treat you like family here! Wood fired pizza with handmade dough with my wine. Never imagined I’d have a great home-cooked meal at a winery too. I came here with their Shiraz’s good reputation, but I bought the Shiraz and one of best Cab I ever had.

What a wonderful place! Had a weekend with the girls at the guest house on this winery. Beautiful setting where we played in the pool and managed a private yoga session on the property. Cyrus was a fantastic host and provided delicious pizza while we tried the wines this fabulous winery has to offer. Wish I could have bought more!(writing this under my husband’s account) –Tracy G.

Had a average experience tasting the wines. Unfortunately for us it was a little busy and Cyrus was a rushed taking care of all 3 groups himaelf. Cyrus was personable and seemed knowledgeable. I wish he had more time to explain things to us. Overall an average experience, we were not overly impressed.

Azari Vineyards was unbelievable! A few friends and I stayed in their guest house for the weekend to celebrate my birthday and had a better experience/the best service than some of the best all inclusive resorts I’ve been to. We spent Saturday early afternoon by their pool(which comes with the guest house) and were greeted by Cyrus and a really fantastic bottle of white wine. He told us to come over to the main house and tasting room around 1−2pm and he’d have some pizzas and a tasting waiting for us. When we got there he was literally rolling out dough to make pizzas in their stone oven. He poured a few tastings for us while we enjoyed the pizza and took us on a really educational tour where we learned about the vines, bottling and fermenting process, and also got to taste some wine straight from the barrel. All 8 of us purchased wine and I won’t hesitate to tell every person I know about how great our stay was and how awesome their wine is. Also, keep an eye out for Blue their dog, he LOVES to cuddle :) Highly recommend!

I had the best time during my visit at Azari Vineyards. It was my birthday weekend with girlfriends in Petaluma. We decided we wanted to visit a local winery so we got on Unilocal to find Azari had some great reviews. We called the morning of our visit and they were happy to host us that afternoon. We were greeted with a great welcome and smile by Cyrus Azari as we parked our car. As we walked to the tasting room(which was next door to the Azari’s residence) we enjoyed the spectacular views of the grapevines and the valley. Cyrus was a delight! He walked us over to began our tastings in the event/tasting room where we were greeted by his Mom and Dad. We began learning about the winery and enjoying our wine tastings when much to our surprise Mr. Azari delivered us a home made pizza that he crafted in his pizza oven. As we continued to enjoy our tastings, Mr. Azari brought us a second pizza! Cyrus proceeded to walk us to their vineyards where he explained about the different grapes, how they care for the field including watering and pruning. It was very educational. We continued our tour to the harvest room where they process the grapes and then later bottle the wine. It was definitely an educational tour. We had only planned to stay at this winery for an hour but 3 hours later we were finally parting with our trunk full of wine. If you are ever in Petaluma, be sure to call ahead and make an appointment to visit Azari Vineyards. Yes, it is a little confusing to get there… but definitely worth the effort.

This review is long overdue. As I’m sitting at Azari enjoying their Valentine’s Day event with my husband sipping on great wine and eating wood fired pizza and chocolate truffles I decided to write this review to express my gratitude for a place that always makes me feel like I’m visiting family. I moved to wine country one year ago from Italy. And Azari is one of the first wineries we visited and fell in love with at first sight. Azari wines are superb and very reasonably priced for how exquisite they are. These handcrafted wines reflect the terroir and uniqueness of the Sonoma Wine Country. But what is also fantastic is the friendly and excellent hospitality that you receive when doing wine tasting at the beautiful Tuscan style villa. Kaveh is truly a pleasure to meet and talk to. He’s genuine and simply a wonderful human being and now a friend. We signed up for their wine club and always look forward to our shipment. Amazing wine combined with warm service and glorious views make this winery a wonderful hidden gem. Having travelled and lived all over Europe including Spain, France and Italy — and now living in the wine country and having visited dozens of the best local wineries, Azari is my favorite on all counts!

My husband and I loved visiting Azari. Kaveh was very accommodating, and we enjoyed chatting with him as we toured the vineyard and tasted all of their wines. The experience was warm and friendly, perhaps because this is a family-run winery, and there’s a personal element to every step in the wine-making process, from the rows of grapevines waiting to be hand-picked to the finicky bottling machine that only works for Kaveh’s dad. We left with a couple of bottles of delicious wine, and we would love to go back to this winery next time we’re in the area!

Azari wines was very charming. Our host– Kaveh was able to provide a lot of information about the various wines without over complicating things. Having a friendly, playful, happy host always makes the tasting that much more enjoyable. My new favorite is the estate grown Pinot Noir. Our experience was so terrific, we ended up enrolling in the wine club so we’ll receive regular deliveries right to our door and now have a greater incentive to visit more often. Can’t wait for our next visit and we’ll definitely be back!

I’ve done a number of wine tastings in Napa and the surrounding areas and by far this was my favorite place to date. Niko(the winemaker) was very friendly and knowledgable about his wines and gave a brief but informative tour of the vineyard. It was a very casual, comfortable, laid back atmosphere with some of the best red wines I’ve had for the price. The wood fire pizzas were a nice added addition to the tasting. Kaveh was very accommodating and friendly as well. He fit us in before a large party with little notice before showing up and made the tasting feel more like hanging out than a stuffy wine tasting. If you are looking for a fun, laid back winery with great wines this is a great place to stop in.
