I would give a zero for this if possible. BEWARE because this guy is a crook. I normally hesitate to write negative things about people because I like to give the benefit of the doubt, but in this case I feel it’s my responsibility to warn everyone. The owner of DC Surveillance, Justin Daly, came to quote a job for installing a video security system at the warehouse for my company. He brought his son Dominic with him to quote the job, and seemed like a nice guy initially. He made friendly and wanted to talk about all kinds of stuff that really didn’t have to do with business, so I figured he was building rapor. Turned out he went to the same high school and know some of the same people, so that had me feel good about working with him. Now I know better, and so should you. Long story short: he billed and collected over $ 2400 for a job that he walked away from and kept the payment, then disappeared. Longer story if you’re interested… We purchased a full security system, which was to include hub, monitor, and 7 cameras installed. He said it would only take one day for the complete install. The following day(Thursday), Justin said he would be there at 9am, and arrived only after I called him at 11am. He said that his employee had left with my system in the truck, so he was going to run the wiring, get everything set up, and then bring the cameras the next day to finish the install. He left early that day, with the work incomplete, because he said he was going to meet up with his employee to get the system equipment. Friday morning I received a text that he was running late, and would be there between noon and 1pm. Didn’t show at all. Didn’t return any calls or text messages. Upon calling him Saturday morning, he told me he was in a car accident and that’s why he didn’t show or call. He went so far as to send me a photo of a car that was in an accident, yet it wasn’t the car that we had seen him driving, which was a black truck that had Harley Davidson on it. Then our place was vandalized over the weekend. Had the job been completed as promised and paid, we would have had the vandal on camera. No such luck. He then showed up on Monday, with his head low and didn’t speak to anyone. Employees say that it looked like he was beat up, perhaps in a fight. He was there for a couple of hours, and then left. The thing about this is that he left during lunchtime and didn’t say anything to anyone. Further, he left the place unsecured, unlocked, and he left a bag of tools and a couple of ladders as if he was going to return. We haven’t heard from him since. After investigating the system, and speaking with the manufacturer, we found the following: 1 camera outside the warehouse(Installed incorrectly/upside down, and the wire was cut) 1 in the upstairs lobby(Installed incorrectly/upside down) 1 in back office(Installed incorrectly/upside down) 2 inside the warehouse(Incomplete) 1 in the production room(Never started) 1 in front office(Never started) Incorrect wiring was used for the work that was done, and the equipment that he did bring was pieced together with random parts, not a full new system in a box. It was as if he used what was laying around or extra parts from previous jobs. Further findings showed that he had cut one of the wires to the camera outside of the warehouse, so that it was not functional. Regarding the cameras that were put in, all of the wires were hooked up incorrectly based on multiple service calls to the manufacturer. He will not answer any phone calls. We had to hire a new contractor to complete the work with what we had, at a cost of $ 1200, plus multiple hours of an employee’s time to assist and get help from the manufacturer.
