After reading Unilocal reviews for most yarn places, Muench Yarns had the best reviews in the important part of shopping«Customer Service,» and they were Right! The place was stocked with yarns, various types of needles, yarn bags, etc. The best part were the two sales people who helped me figure out what type of needles to buy. They let me try different needles with yarn to see what worked. It was fun along with helpful. I highly recommend this place in Petaluma for your yarn needs.

This is now called Hen Haus Boutique. I love this place, and have been shopping here since they were Muench and on the next street over. Very unassuming location, tucked in an industrial park. Inside is a different story, though. Tons of needles, accessories, buttons, gifts, clothing, and best of all — yarn. I find a lot of mid-lower end yarns here that I love. One of the owners, Kirsten, turned me on to the Uptown Worsted for $ 5 a skein. I normally don’t use acrylic, but it was the right yarn for the particular project I was about to start. She talked me into it this non-pilling yarn and now I’m in love. They have beautiful higher end yarns and carry some Sweet Georgia Brown. They have great sales, sometime in conjunction with their next door neighbor, Unicorn Books. The owners, Pam and Kirsten, are fabulous and very helpful. The only thing I’d change are the days they’re open — they are typically open M-F only. They are open some Saturdays, so get on their e-mail list for advance notice.

I’m an avid crocheter and sometimes knitter. This place is awesome! They are now under the name«Hen Haus Boutique», which is a fabulous name. Wholesale prices to the public. YES!!! SCORE!!! I was on my way back from Michaels and saw a sign that said«yarn» with an arrow. I decided to check it out. I could have spent hours there, and hundreds of dollars, but I got away with spending less than $ 50 on 8 skeins of yarn. There’s a $ 5 yarn room. :)

A down-to-earth LYS: Casual, friendly service well-suited to those of us who won’t spend $ 10 on a skein. When I went there was a $ 1 bin(discontinued?), some $ 2.50 yarn, and nearly a room of $ 5 yarn. Plan a trip to the Lagunitas brewery across the street and feel less guilty about making your husband wait for you to shop. I got the sense that not many people know about this place.(When I mentioned my planned trip to a gal at a fabric shop downtown she said«A yarn store? Are you sure? It’s pretty industrial out there.») Check it out and spread the word!

This is my first time here. I live in Napa and we have a yarn store and it has beautiful yarns but as a beginner the prices are really high. I purchased yarn at Joannes because its cheap but the quality is so low. I’ve gone to Dharma trading in san Rafael, good selection but again high prices. This place now called Hen House Boutique was fabulous! I told them my dilemma, I’m a beginner but i want good quality yarn i would love to work with and wear ar a good price. I was led to the mother lode, all kinds of yarn, wool, alpaca, cotton, mohair, mixed, all for 5 dollars. A whole room full of 5 dollar yarns. And did i mention the buttons and double pointed needles i got super cheap. Oh and the«store chicks» Kirstin and Pam were helpful, friendly and sweet. Can’t wait to go back.

This place is fantastic! I came for the Family line of yarn but will return for the helpful and friendly service and the very interesting and affordable yarn. For knitters, I’d advise coming here for the great selection of washable baby and kid yarns

Hidden treasure here in Petaluma! How many times have I driven by while on my way ‘somewhere’… I always had that thought in the back of my head that I would eventually find my way into this little out of the way place. …and today was that day! My daughter and I planned a quick little stop to see what they had and ended staying for what seemed like forever. So many choices, and beyond reasonable prices on really(really) nice, high quality yarn. I will definitely be back :)

I don’t knit but was drawn into their store because of a sign for a scarf sale. I was so pleased when I found out they had scarves and much more for those of us without knitting skills to buy. I bought two shirts, two scarves and a necklace then returned to buy the best leggings ever! Going back soon to buy the knitted gloves I saw. Ok — so the other thing I loved was the staff — super friendly and helpful!!!

I originally found the Muench Yarns Family line at my local yarn shop and got hooked on the great colors, washability, and its super softness– perfect for baby hats and blankets. Then, much to my surprise I discovered the warehouse during one of its sales. Not only was there tons of the Family line available, but many other beautiful and high quality yarns, needles, patterns, buttons, and other accessories, all at really great prices! The folks I’ve met there– Pam and Kirstin– are super nice and friendly. Even Pam’s cute dog, Snickers, is really welcoming! Kirstin, on several occasions, helped me to find the perfect yarns for various projects and even pulled back stock out for me to check out. On occasion, the warehouse also has clothing– sweaters, tees, yoga pants– and scarves for sale, too. Now, instead of waiting for their occasional sales, the warehouse is open weekly! For me, that’s dangerous knowledge!

Muench yarns has EVERYTHING that a yarn crafter might possibly need. If you get on their mailing list you will be notified of SALE dates, so you can stock up on all of your yarn & accessory needs. And the people there are really nice!
