Just discovered Petaluma’s newest art gallery in the historic Hatchery complex, just north of where Lakeville intersects Petaluma Blvd North. I heard a cork pop as we were was walking past the Hatchery, and at first I thought it came from the gun shop next door – was it a popgun going off? Then we saw the gallery with its door open, where the owner had just popped open a bottle of champagne, celebrating the official opening of Studio C2, dedicated to showcasing the work of local ceramics artists. Gregory greeted us warmly and introduced us to some of his work and the work of the other artists he’s showing. He’s got excellent taste, the work is all beautiful. The work was also reasonably priced – accessible. The gallery showcased handsome, lace-like vessels, gorgeous goblets, and Gregory’s own haunting but gorgeous sculptural pieces inspired by instruments used in fracking. The colors in the current show are all the rustic earth tones produced by high-fire glazes. I’m so pleased to see a gallery of this quality in town. We found it well worth stopping in.
