We stopped here for some fantastic ice cream and we had already purchased some Petaluma Creamery 2-years organic white cheddar at another store. When we saw the price of the same aged cheddar at this shop($ 8.50/lb) we almost cried because we had paid $ 6 for a half-pound just hours earlier. We came home with 5 different cheeses and after sampling them, we shed WAYMORETEARS because in a blind taste test the Petaluma sharp cheese beat all the others — better than a goat cheese and an extra-sharp NY cheddar which retailed at $ 27/lb — we should have BOUGHTMORE !!!

Fresh organic cheese straight from the local manufacturer. That is all you need to know about Petaluma Creamery, except perhaps for their location in downtown Petaluma. Use your GPS to get here as the streets in the area are rather weird. This factory store sells organic and conventional cheese including smoked options not readily available. You can also get curds, but unfortunately not really fresh curds like in Wisconsin. Please make and sell these. Yum! It may sound cheesy, but Petaluma Creamery is a curd above the rest. They also have espresso and ice cream, but grab some cheese and head to your picnic or Lagunitas and thank me later.

Sounds like a cute place so we stopped in on our way home on a hot day. Ordered two scoops of ice cream and I wish the ice cream had been a firmer — it was rather soft. It wasn’t the best tasting ice cream — I think baskin Robbins may be better. By the way two scoops is a huge serving. There were lots of flies on the inside so we sat outside which was nice. The bathrooms aren’t clean.

We came here for the cheese and left with roughly 100000 calories worth of cheese and ice cream. There were abundant cheese samples; we liked the 2 year aged white cheddar best. The ice cream was excellent and despite being full from lunch, we ended up getting coconut(favorite! Full of shredded coconut bits), lemon(had little pieces of peel, not too sweet at all), and toffee. It’s too bad the factory was closed for tours(she said they open for tours around June), as we would have loved to check it out.

I was so excited to go here! It ended in a utter epic fail. I placed my order and was told that they would bring me the food when it’s ready. So I’m waiting and waiting. I’ve heard that it takes awhile to get your food. 15 – 25 minutes, so I thought nothing of it. Finally, I go back inside and ask for my order and they have given it to someone else. WTF!?! I asked for my money back. What happened to «bringing it to me when it’s ready?»

A delicious MUST. Do yourself a favor and eat lunch at The Petaluma Creamery, Tanya makes awesome awesome food! The BBQ chicken sandwiches can’t be beat. Do not leave empty handed, pick up specialty cheese to go.

Tried the ice cream as recommended by a coworker and it was disappointing. Flavor was ok but there were so many ice crystals! The day we went there were only 3 Spring Hill cheeses to sample: Garlic Jack(too garlicky for my taste, Mike’s Firehouse Jack(my favorite), and 2 Year Aged White Cheddar(not overpowering as some older white cheddars can be). Maybe it would’ve been better if we scheduled a tour appointment, but other than that I’d skip this cheese maker stop.

Delicious fresh sandwiches and fresh potato salad. Better than home! Ice cream is far beyond normal. Nice service. Could be just a touch cleaner.

This is a quaint quick stop for visitors in Petaluma. It’s basically a small deli that also sells cheeses and ice cream. I didn’t try any of their foods so I can’t vouch for the quality of it. They offer a variety of different samples from one main brand of cheese($ 7 – 8 each). My personal favorite was the aged cheddar and the smoked Monterey cheese. If you’re looking for cheese tasting, this might not be the place as there isn’t much variety. If you looking to buy a block of cheese from a local creamery, this place might be worth spending 5 minutes in.

I have mixed feelings about this creamery, its not bad but there are some areas that require improvement. I absolutely love the cheese, it’s some of the best around, the ice cream is pretty darn good; lots of selection of the two, making it a fun exciting experience to taste test and choose your favorite. I’ve had the BBQ burger and hot dog, it wasn’t anything special. On the two separate occasions the meat tasted cheap and/or freezer burnt. It’s a shame because you can tell by the other ingredients it could be quite good if only the meat was improved. The price is 3x more expensive than fast food and the taste is comparable, that has me avoiding it. The other pre-made food is alright, its a little expensive but its good tasting. The service is great when the place is slow but the second it gets busy you can see the confusion, chaoticness and drastic reduction in service speed. 4⁄5 because the place surely isn’t bad, it just needs some minor touch ups for excellence.

Dirty tables, dirty floors, flies all over. Wait staff behind the counter seemed dazed and confused. Sat outside in the cold, as the tables were clean from the rain earlier. $ 7 for a small salad. Geez. Decided not to set my coffee down on a side table outside due to the old, smeared chocolate sauce the rain missed. Yuck. A little reorganizing and clarifying staff roles/responsibilities would go a long way here. Maybe have more supervision than an older lady popping her head in once in a while to bark out instructions…

The service was very shady. The only one really doing anything was the only boy in there. I think his name was Dominic? He kinda looked like Matt Bomber.

My kids have been waiting for over 30 minutes for three sandwiches. No BBQ as advertised everywhere. No cheese samples. Lots of employees and few customers. All three sandwiches were wrong. Won’t come back.

Almost every time we go here it is super busy and there aren’t many workers and the ones that are there they are overwhelmed. I get being busy but be better prepared, it’s all about customer service.

We Unilocaled a bunch of cheese places and stumbled upon Petaluma creamery because of the plethora of reviews raving about the ice cream. It did not disappoint. The shop itself has a cheese section(with samples). Eat away! We ended up buying the spring hill aged white cheddar. It is aged well, buttery, and has a good medium sharpness. The ice cream was very creamy, so if you are looking for something light, please do yourself a favor and look away! It is creamy, thick, and delicious. It isn’t too sweet. The lemon ice cream and the pistachio were both great.

Really yummy ice cream but it’s on the creamy side(the kind that leaves that film on your tongue). I prefer it to be a little less creamy but it was still good quality ice cream. I tried their peach ice cream and it had a good mix of peaches and vanilla in it so that you knew you were eating peach ice cream. Would recommend to anyone that likes that really creamy type of ice cream.

If you are passing by, this is a good place to stop, check out their inventory of organic cheeses, and have an espresso or ice cream. I like their different flavors of cheddar cheeses, like Their«Sage Cheddar» and«2-Year Aged White Cheddar», but their other cheeses are pretty good too.

After hanging out at Lagunitas, decided to come here to get some dessert. Cute little shop. I had a scoop of the blueberry ice cream which was decent, but I thought needed more blueberry flavor. They also had some cheese samples out, which I did like a lot. This convinced me to buy a package of organic Petaluma white cheddar.

I am big fan of everything Spring Hill. The pumpkin patch at the farm in the fall is not to be missed. Our visit included milking a cow, a hay ride and the best pumpkin ice cream ever. The cheeses are the stars, and you’ll be wowed with the selection and quality. Stop by the Creamery and taste for yourself.

After a less than stellar time playing the slots at Graton, we headed down the 101 with very little in mind what we wanted to do next. My travel partner in her infinite wisdom started to look up some places we could go. Wineries came up but then I thought of the crowds on a Sunday, yep, the day of rest and booze apparently. She was also thinking on the lines of museums but the only one I was the most interested in was back up the 101. I brought up shopping then realized I don’t need anything truly. What does one do when they’re bored?! They eat ICECREAM! Yep as soon as she said the word I instantly became a sugar-hyped kid with ADHD! I don’t know how I got us there safely but I did and parking was supremely superb! The creamery is attached to the operational brains of the dairy however it seemed more operational in the General Store. We walked in and were instantly greeted by a nice lady behind the counter while she was tending to another customer. The place was mildly busy inside but the crux of patrons outside enjoying the near perfect weather. Once it was our turn we were encouraged to try their award-winning flavors, some of which were more on the unique side like lavender and meyer lemon. I can’t exactly recall all the flavors I tried but I ended up settling on the meyer lemon for my two scoops. The ice cream was as great as their awards had touted. Super creamy, old fashioned styling and the flavors were so fresh! It was so good that it inspired me to get a quart of Clover whole milk and a few cheese samples. By now all these me me me actions turned me towards the local sauces and marinades to buy for my dear mommy. You see she loves to cook and even more-so loves her accoutrements. To help with that I bought up several sauces and marinades to replace what she had used up the last time I did this type of shopping spree for her. I was very happy that the creamery had these readily available to lessen my guilt. I will happily come back and I think next time it’ll be with mommy! :)

Note: This review is for the ice cream service only. My mom and I have been coming to Petaluma Creamery several times a year since about 2012. Our primary mission was always ICECREAM. This was our traditional final stop on our way out of town. We would shop until we almost dropped, have lunch, then come here for two scoops each of something delicious to enjoy on our drive back to SF. Until last year, the creamery seemed to be owned by the same family for some time. We figured this because we’d always see the same two ladies there. We assumed they were mother and daughter. They were sweet and nice and doled out generous scoops. Then sometime last year it was suddenly different. The two ladies were gone. We ordered our typical two scoops each and the new guy indeed gave us two flavors, but in half-scoop portions that he measured out to the point of being comical. We tried to explain to him that we wanted TWO full scoops of one flavor each and were prepared to pay for such, but he seemed thoroughly confused and insisted that he was giving us what we asked for. We shrugged and took our two half-scoops. I mean, maybe the guy was trying to do our love handles a favor? Then yesterday I went back with my kid and her dad. Dad ordered two scoops on a cone, and I ordered two scoops in a cup. AGAIN I watched the same young dude verrrrrrry deliberately measure out about half of what we used to get. Then we were charged $ 4.50 each, for the equivalent of one scoop of ice cream. It’s not often that I write a 1-star review, but damn. I may joke about being cheap but I’m actually not. I like being treated well and I am willing to over-pay for the honor. But the minute I feel like you’re nickel-and-diming me, I’m out, and I’m taking my ice-cream-eatin’ love handles with me. Later, Petaluma Creamery.

Very unassuming place, and you can get everything from fresh dairy products(cheese curds, milk, creams,), sauces, oils, vinegars, eggs, sweets, fresh ice cream(cone/quarts etc), salads, pizza, bagels and more. But I was drawn in by the BBQ sign. BOY was i right. The meat was so fresh and the sauce they used to season the tri-tip sandwich was delectable. I still taste it. and then they added a delicious mayo to the sandwich that made it even better. Great service by the BBQ girls, and by Nick, he aint the owner, but more helpful than if he was! Good people, service and food. Not to mention, the prices were very reasonable, and VERYCHEAP compared to petaluma.

I was absolutely delighted to discover that Spring Hill Farms had their own creamery just outside of downtown Petaluma! For years I have been going to their farm to enjoy their Jersey cow dairy cheeses and ice cream. When I saw this quaint place I knew I had found heaven. Now four years later, I still go there to purchase cheese curds, cheese slices, and, of course, their delicious ice cream. With a remodel, this place has really improved its interior and also how it displays its various dairy products. If I’m ever driving through Petaluma I make sure to stop here and purchase a few cheese slices as well as treat myself to a sundae. If you’re into ice cream or cheese like me, this is so place for you!

If you’re on the cheese trail, you should skip this stop. Most of the stops along the cheese trail, you’ll find the store is there only for the purpose of the cheese they are affiliated with. This store seems like Spring Hill didn’t feel like running their own store, so they left it to be run by the corner store a block over. We arrived on a Saturday around 2:30. No cheese samples were out, just the empty cases. No offer for any cheese to be sampled. The amount of cheese for purchase in the fridge was pretty sparse. They had someone outside running a grill, which smelled great, but we were told that ended at 2. There is a deep freezer with some pasta and pasta related things that seem like they had been there for quite a long time.

We stopped here on the way to the airport from Sonoma. It is a little bit further off the freeway than I would have expected so I was anxious to get there. The outdoor seating area is ok. A few patio tables facing the main road. We ordered subs from the indoor deli and looked around the store which is a little aged. I was surprised with this being a creamery that they only had a small section of cheese and such. The sandwiches took a little while so this was not a fast in and out. The sandwiches were fine but nothing stood out. Perhaps the big draw is the ice cream! I would like this place if I was local but I wouldn’t drive to get there, if that makes any sense.

Such a great place to stop in for lunch and/or ice cream. Ordered the grilled cheese with turkey sandwich for $ 6 and was surprised how delicious it was. Surprised mostly because there’s a bunch of teenage girls running the kitchen. After lunch I had to try the fresh ice cream and with 10 different flavors it’s hard to decide. Went with a scoop of Meyer lemon that had pieces of lemon peel and peppermint patty. Loved the peppermint but wasn’t a fan of the lemon. It kind of tasted artificial. The other best part of this place is their cheese market. They have a variety of cheeses to sample and purchase and I loved them all but my favorite was the sage cheddar. Delicious! Also purchased fresh butter. Can’t wait to return!
