I have been doing business with these guys for 15 years. Recently I rented a movie that would not play on my player. I ended up renting a copy online from Amazon as Silver Screen did not have another copy available. I took it in but they refused to give me a credit, saying that there policy was only to offer a replacement copy. I explained that I had already had to BUY the movie as my family was intent on watching it that night and that I would just accept a credit. No, they«have a policy» against this. So I asked to speak with the manager, «Rigo». Rigo said the same thing. I said perhaps you should consider that if you have a policy wherein you rent shoddy merchandise you should consider refunding it when it does not work. His wonderful logic was«if we do that for you we will have to do that for everybody». I said offering refunds for defective merchandise sounds like a pretty just idea. Still refused a credit. I pointed out that I had been doing business with them for 15 years and they could look up my transaction record to see if I had been abusing their refund policy but they refused. I asked for the owners name, but«Rigo» refused to supply it. 1) Both the clerk and the manager lied to my face — they have in fact given our family refunds when they rented us a defective product in the past 2) There is no reason to not offer a credit as opposed to an exchange — no additional cost to them for customer who has spent thousands of dollars over the years. 3) Can hardly wait til online puts them out of business. Complete ripoff. Use at your own risk.

The staff is amazingly friendly and helpful. If they don’t have what you’re looking for, they’ll order it.

Nice place with good service and lots of videos. I like looking all the movies lined up on the wall.

The last video store in Petaluma and yeah, it’s great. Small but mighty.

I love Silver Screen. For a little while I hated it, but now I love it again. Good TV shows selection and they’re so well stocked up on New Releases that you can usually get a copy of the newest titles.

Ok, so I did a little research and found out that THIS was the place my parents used to take my brother and I to get our movie fix when we were youngins. By youngin’s, I mean we were between the ages of 6 and 9, and yes, I was watching Mary Kate and Ashley pre-buliema and«wtf went wrong» movies about them selling their brother or being detectives. Here is also where I developed my love of porn. Back in the ol’ days, for all you«under 18’ers» out there, they had these things called VIDEOS, and they had stores that rented them out. None of this netflix bullshit, no – VIDEOS. Like, you had to wait to rewind them. It was CRAZY! Anyways, they had special rooms for those *bad* videos, and they were sectioned off by some kind of either wall or curtain, or both. Ever the independent(when I was 8 I was already looking at apartments), I wandered off and somehow managed to get passed the staff and into this room. WOW. I saw… well…it was very graphic. Let’s just say that I knew what oral looked like before I knew what it was. And I’m pretty sure it was girl-on-girl, too. So I’m walkin’ around, kind of gawking at what I was looking at, eyes ever-so-wide, and suddenly got pulled outta there like some kind of tornado or somethin. DAMMIT! So I asked them up at the front desk why I wasn’t allowed in there. Employee: «You have to be 18» Me: «Oh. Um, will you still have it when I turn 18?» Employee: «…» Dad: «OK! Time to go!» Ever since, my parents had to watch out for me so that I couldn’t wander off into that sacred little room. Now that I’m over 18, and even over the legal drinking age, we have t3h interwebz to download such wonderfulness. Yes, my credit card *may* have a couple old statements that advertise the fact I might have wanted to be a member at some such site, or whatever, but I still have fond memories of going into that *bad* room. And by «fond memories» I mean my therapy bills won’t ever, ever let me forget it.

i have little memories of coming here over 20 years ago. i think some of the same staff is still working. always very friendly. for years they knew everyone in my family’s name. ahh nostalgia, fun stuff. what more can i say, they have dvds now and always have some good hard to find flicks. i think they even still have their adult section. good local video store that I’m very happy is still alive.
