My husband and I visited from Chicago, where we’re blessed with multiple Michelin-starred restaurants. That being said, this was an unforgettable experience. The food was delicious, but what really impressed me was the intimate atmosphere and kindhearted nature of Dick Warner and his wife, Julie. Their passion for food and wine was very evident; it felt like a private dinner party. This was a meal I’ll remember for years to come!

I came here as a birthday present surprise, and it was hands down the best meal I have had in Petaluma! This is a husband and wife operation, Dick runs the front of the house and his wife Julie the back. The restaurant is very small and intimate which adds to the charm. Every thing we was delicious, the Ono was flown in from Hawaii and the meat and duck local. We did the wine pairing and we all loved all the wine that was poured. I will definitely go back.

Most amazing food in town. The wine and food pairing is definitely the way to go, you will not be disappointed. I enjoyed the Ono Sashimi, beet Salad, Risotto and Julie’s Grandmothers Meyer Lemon pudding. An awesome selection for meat lovers, vegetarians and fish lovers! A great place to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, or just a weekend! An intimate setting with the best service and live jazz music playing upstairs. The freshest fish flown in from Hawaii that week! I left very satisfied and plan on coming back as soon as possible. Thank you guys!

First of all, this is by far the best restaurant I have ever been to in my entire life!!! Words can not properly describe how incredible this experience was and I can not wait to go back again. From the first moment you walk in, you are welcomed by Dick and the friendly/warm environment and furthermore coupled by some of the most amazing food/wine. Dick and Julie are truly wonderful people. Being a Somm, I couldn’t ask for anything more. Thank you again!!!

Twisted 2 was a 5 star experience. Somehow snagged a reservation for a Saturday night with only 1 days notice. We were greeted with a glass of champagne to start the evening. Next I had fresh ono sashimi style, followed by a Caesar salad. The Caesar salad was delicious, perfectly dressed and a perfect sized portion. For the main course I got the grilled ono. The ono itself was slightly dry but when paired with the rice and vegetables it was a perfect bite. Then came the best part of the meal. The owner recommended the walnut cake and I’m so glad he did because it would not be my typical order. It was out of this world good. We also had the meyer lemon pudding which was good but just not as good as the walnut cake. Also didn’t mention that we did the wine pairing with the meal which was spot on. All in all great service, great food, and a great night.

This restaurant is in a class all by itself in Sonoma County. It’s unusual in that it’s super tiny(not cramped though) with a Prix Fixe format, but reasonably priced and within each of the four courses(and one amuse bouche), there’s plenty of choices. Fish lovers, meat lovers and vegetarians, come hither. You will be impressed by the hospitality and attention given by Dick and Julie, vintner and chef respectively. They care SO much about fresh ingredients and the perfection of how the dish is cooked and presented. There were three of us so we enjoyed almost everything on the menu. The Ono was the star of the show since it was flown in from Hawaii. We enjoyed the Ono as sashimi as a first course, and not a tiny small plate version – a generous amount perfectly served. BTW I am so tired of the small plate/big $$ movement in Healdsburg. We also savored the hand made ravioli as a first course. We chose the mushroom bisque and a beautiful salad for the second course, both perfectly seasoned. Homemade dark bread was a delicious addition. For the third act we chose the grilled Ono with a fresh pesto and garden vegetables as well as another dish of «fall off the bone» short ribs. And finally, we sampled all three desserts, walnut cake, lemon pudding and flourless chocolate cake. I should add that in some high end restaurants, I always feel like they rely on the butter and cream to make you feel like you are eating«rich,» also known as prelude to a heart attack. But at Twisted2, I felt like they were honoring the actual meat, fish and vegetables. In each dish, you could enjoy the essence of the food without it being sauced to extremes. Since we were in celebration mode, we enjoyed the wine pairings as well. Dick led us through each wine and and made us like we were honored guests. Some advice, choose a DD, since these are not small pours. Call for reservations! Add this review to the other five star reviews on Unilocal. I can’t wait to go back! PS Forgot to mention the live guitar music to accompany. Outstanding. Petalumans, you are so lucky!

I’m going to hate to do this but I have to give Twisted Two 5 stars. The restaurant is just that good. I’ve been there about a dozen times and have never had a bad experience. Never. And every meal there is an experience in flavor texture taste! I’ve recommended this place to several friends, who have also fallen in love. I have since stopped recommending this place as it was booked solid last the two times I called! Dick is a master of wine and his pairings are perfect with Julie’s mastery in the kitchen. The wines are so good that it’s rare that I leave there without at least one bottle. They wines are small boutique vineyards and I’ve sought out some of them on my own to buy more wine… always mentioning Dick as the one who introduced me to their wine. I wish I could cook even half as well as Julie but I can’t and never will. She is the Chef and a master of her domain. I’ll just have to keep going back when I just can’t go another day without tasting her wonderful food.

The other 5-star reviews here are accurate — we had no complaints and everything is delicious. The wine pairings and food portions both were generous. It’s small with I believe, only 6 tables, but not uncomfortable. Park on the street — it’s hidden inside the building; we entered from the Brixx side(4th Street) but it is closer to Petaluma Blvd N. — enter the door that says Lanmart(under Old Chicago Pizza).

Let me preface by saying — I DON’T want to review this restaurant. I do NOT, at all, want anyone else to know about it, because we already had to book it a month+ in advance(just in case), and… I don’t know, I’m selfish. On one hand I’m like, YES! Everyone! And the other hand I’m like, please stay away, despite me living in LA and only coming up once a year. So I guess I’m going against my selfish side by writing this. About a year ago, maybe more, I noticed this place pop up on Unilocal as a new business in Petaluma, and checked it out — online. I told my cousin who lives there, and she immediately booked a table to try it out(I guess I have that effect on people). She raved, her husband raved, and they both refused to go with anyone else but me for fear of it getting French Laundry popular. Halloween night, 2015, was my time to finally taste the beauty that comes from Dick and Julie Warner’s life work, as a sommelier and chef, respectively. Dick, the wine master, took our order and served our food — and even with the little tidbits he gave throughout the meal, you could tell this man(and his wife by proxy) had lived an incredible life. The wine paired fantastically with each dish — something you may expect out of Sonoma County, but never so well done. His wife, Julie, even made the pottery dishes all our dishes were served on — so safe to say this is the couple everyone envies for all their talents. The menu is prix fixe, but you have a choice of dishes for each: appetizer, soup/salad, entrée, and dessert. Amuse Bouche — pistachios with a rosé(such a savory start) First Course — Ono Sashimi with Asian Slaw: I thought for sure this was butter. I mean, it had to be butter. It melted the moment it hit your tongue, and just… good lord. This was paired with a lip-smacking sauvignon blanc. The Butternut Squash Ravioli with Safe and Pistachio Brown Butter looked amazing — but I wasn’t about to pass up fresh ono! Second Course — Brussel Sprout and Grilled Apple Salad with Manchego Cheese, Hazelnuts, and Maple Syrup Vinaigrette: rarely does a salad come together like this one did. I usually feel like a rabbit when eating a leaf or two, but this was different. All sorts of textures and flavors, they did a serious job of melding well. Wine was a chardonnay we ended up buying as a gift, because it was perfect! Mole Posole Soup Topped with Sweet Onions and Cilantro was the option my boyfriend had, and while delicious, I am definitely happy with my choice of salad(manchego cheese is hard to beat!) Third Course — NY Steak Dipped in Duck Fat and Grilled with Mustard Butter and Yukon Gold Mashers: magical steak, magical duck fat, magical everything. Keep in mind that these are not small portions, so if you have a tiny tummy(and a sore throat like I did), you might be edging the part of «oh god, I can’t.» Paired with a red that I can’t remember because I’m the worst, but I’m pretty sure we ended up buying a bottle… He also had us try another red that was impossible to find. What a tease! :P The Tea Smoked Petaluma Liberty Duck Breast with Hibiscus Reduction Sauce and Jasmine Brown Rice was amazing. I almost wanted to switch, but not really. Duck fat dipped steak and all. Fourth Course — We had all three desserts, and they were phenomenal — even better with the wine pairings, both bottles of which we purchased afterward. A Roussane Wine and Olive oil cake with apple compote and whipped cream, a flourless walnut cake with caramel sauce and whipped cream, and a chocolate espresso torte with crème anglaise and red raspberry sauce. Excuse me while I whine to Ryan about wishing I had some in front of me right now. To Dick and Julie — you did an AMAZING job and I can’t wait to come back!

Awesome every time. Tuna is so fresh and beautifully prepared. I love it sashimi style and seared. Both fantastic with completely different accompaniments to showcase the fish. That first course is my favorite every time. This is our go to place for guests. What better way to show off Petaluma. Agree with another Unilocaler that this is the best restaurant in town. Going to start getting hard to get reservation soon since they are only open Thursday thru Saturday.

Dinner was *excellent* and Dick couldn’t have been cooler! :) Such a great meal(seared Ono with tapenade, Caesar salad, steak cooked to a perfect medium-rare and amazing dessert), great wine pairings, great atmosphere! Highly recommend! :) :) :)

Unbelievable experience. We called a Friday night and scored a last minute opening for Saturday at 8pm. From the moment we arrived we felt like home. Joking with the tables next to us and eating some of the best food we’ve ever had. The ambience is small and intimate with dim lighting and only 7 small tables. The NY steak cooked in duck fat was outstanding! Caesar salad with grilled bread, wow. We tried all three deserts, Julie gave us one on the house. Dick noticed I loved one of my glasses of ‘savy-b’ and continued to top me off all night. We were the last to leave and we left feeling love in our hearts for this place, bottle of wine in hand and we couldn’t wait to come back with friends. You really can taste the love in their food and dining experience.

I’m about to make a very bold statement. Best restaurant in Petaluma. The food, service, and atmosphere are top notch every time. Just when I thought I couldn’t be any more impressed with Chef Julie’s culinary creations — I ordered her fish sandwich. It was so delicious that I had to let everyone at my table have a taste because there was no way they’d believe that a fish sando could knock your socks off! As usual Dick’s wine pairings enhanced each course of our meal as though they’d been intricately crafted for each other. Last Thursday we dropped in for Happy Hour and a Half and although he was booked all evening with reservations he was able to accommodate us. If you love food and wine do yourself a favor and make a reservation to spend an evening with the the Warners. They are consistently amazing.

We’ve wanted to try Twisted 2 for a long time and finally made it in this past Friday. What a rare and awesome treat. From the amuse bouche to the dessert, the food was splendid. The wine pairings were thoughtfully chosen and worked well with each course. The owners, Dick and Julie, are warm and friendly. They gave us a tour of their miniscule kitchen. Amazing that such splendid food can be produced in such a tiny area. Highly recommended; we will return.

My husband and I are relative newcomers to the area, transplants from the East Bay. Twisted 2 was a wonderful discovery for us! We wanted a special place to celebrate our anniversary, and nowhere close fit the bill. Twisted 2 stood out among restaurants in nearby Petaluma, with uniformly excellent reviews. It exceeded our expectations! First, Dick makes guests feel very welcome on arriving at the intimate(5 table) restaurant. The atmosphere is warm, friendly and comfortable; «casual sophistication» might best describe it. The menu is a fixed four courses, with or without wine pairings, and while the choices for each course are limited, they are all excellent. Chef Julie has something on her menu that will appear to everyone, and caters well to vegetarians. I opted for the seared Ahi first course, which was very fresh, perfectly cooked and served with a delicious tropical salsa; just right to excite the palate. My husband loved his artichoke and goat cheese flan. Our second course, winter salad, had a lovely blend of flavors and textures from baby winter greens, roasted beets, shaved Brussels sprouts and cheese & nuts that perfectly complemented the vegetables. We had the same main course, a wonderful farro risotto with butternut squash, kale, and shaved Parmesan among other yummy ingredients. Since dessert is included in the prix fixe menu, we HAD to eat it… right? Good thing, too, since Julie’s Meyer Lemon pudding was fantastic! While we didn’t get the wine pairings, my single glass of Pinot Noir was excellent and well matched to the earthy flavors of the risotto. Dick definitely knows wine, and we look forward to sampling more from his cellars on future visits. I’m sure they won’t be infrequent, since this is the best restaurant we’ve experienced yet in the North Bay. Twisted 2 is well worth a visit), whether you are a Petaluma local or coming from farther afield. They also offer an a la carte happy hour menu that looks great. Can’t wait to return!

Possibly the best salad and ahi I have ever had in my life. The pad thai with seared ahi was in fact one of the best dishes I have ever had even though I’ve travelled through Thailand for four weeks. Dick and Julie are some of the best hosts I have ever experienced. The nicest people who cares so much about their food and wine and make sure to tell you everything there is to know about it. Will definitely come back again and again to this place. This alone is worth the drive from SF to Petaluma.
