I eat at the Wild Goat quite often. The food is pretty good. A little crowded in the front dining area, but you get to know your neighbor!

We visited this location while visiting family in the area. Myself, my husband, MIL and two children dines for lunch here ordering three pizzas, a hamburger and a meatball starter. It took about 25 minutes for a waitress to visit our table to greet us and ask for our drinks, which we received promptly. When seated we asked for two kids menus, which also took about 25 minutes to be received. Our order was taken and after 30 minutes passed we were told we still had 12 pizzas ahead of our order. The Hamburger Kids Pizza and one other pizza arrived about 40 minutes later and the waitress informed us they did not make the last pizza gluten free as ordered and offered myself bread while I wait! Granted I ordered the gluten free pizza, I declined. I was visibly shaking and told the waitress I had low blood sugar and needed to know how long it would take for my pizza, she told me no more than 10 minutes. At this point my 8 year old still did not receive the meat ball she ordered either. We asked about that as well and was told it was almost ready. 35 minutes later she brought out the pizza and the meatball after the rest of our party had already finished their meals and were waiting on our food. It took 1 hour and 45 minutes for us to get that one pizza and one meatball we ordered. When the waitress brought our food she didn’t even as much as apologize. BTY we never even received one drink refill. We asked for our bill which took another 15 minutes and was offered a piece of cake to go, which surely would not make up for the issue. We wanted to ask for the manager but was afraid we would have to wait another 20 minutes. My pizza was also taken off the bill, but the meatball charge and bad service remained. While the food was good I would never return to or recommend this place to anyone. I am most upset that they allowed my 8 year old to wait 1 hour and 45 minutes for her food after serving most of the table 30 minutes prior, no apology, nothing.

We concluded that the fig, prosciutto, and arugula pizza(fig and pig) was in our top five pizzas we’ve ever had. Salty with a hint of sweet. The duck main course was more of a 3– or 4-star rating – meat was good, veggies were meh. Service was genuine and the location was adorable, all in all a great cosy night out.

Wow! This place is incredibly tasty. I had the cheese plate and the fig and pig pizza(add a touch of crushed red pepper if you get this it kicks it up a notch) which were both perfect. I was there for a pretty late lunch on a weekday and it was still fairly busy so I’d definitely recommend a reservation for peak times. There are plenty of friendly staff to take care of you here as well!

Great service, nice Rose wine — but the food was not very tasty. Mushroom sandwich was bland and could have used more seasoning. The tuna sandwich was equally bland. Such a charming place though. The Pinot by the glass also not up to par.

Food is good but if you are going to this place on a busy day you don’t expect to get any food any quicker so avoid this place when you are in rush…

This place was beyond amazing. Small but extraordinary! Be sure to make reservations on a Tuesday early lunch at 11:00 we almost didn’t get in. The Nutty Goat plate was delicious! Loved the lamb burger, the ketchup was incredible! Wine to match! This place is high marks by far! Worth the trip! Service was delightful!

So here’s the deal. I haven’t Unilocaled in a while. Time to get back to it. The Mary’s Chicken with asparagus and polenta is one of the most amazing chickens I have ever had. It is awesome X 6. Not 5 but 6. But… the Off the Hook salad? No not really. It’s off the tack in the wall maybe, just ok. Hamburger by report ok, easy on the blue cheese is the word. Service good, friendly, lil slow to connect after water and menus. They were busy which in some sense is always a good sign. I wish to come back and try other things here. Plus I’d like to meet the Wild Goat, where do they keep him?

After tonight’s meal we’ll not be back to The Wild Goat Bistro. Unfortunately this restaurant is not what it’s cracked up to be. 1) Soup special $ 8. Pepper & Sweet Potato cup. Three of us found bits of plastic in our soup. Inedible, sent back. No replacement. Done. 2) Duck Breast main. Duck breast tasteless. Over cooked… although vegetables were barely just ok. The dish was $ 27. Nothing«jelled». It was very bland & not very memorable and we’d not order it again. 3) Salads were acceptable. 4) Pizza. Barely made the grade, a bit undercooked. Rather«mushy» in consistency. 5) Bread — old & dry… Horrible 6) Wine service was good. Bill $ 170 for 4 with tip.

We specifically stopped here for lunch on our way to Mendocino as we had a year ago and loved the place. Unfortunately this time we were extremely disappointed. Service was horrible. We ordered a large salad and pizza to share. After an excruciating 40 minute wait, we see our salad being delivered to the table next to us. After a couple bites, they alerted staff it was the wrong salad. Too late for us. Two more tries after telling the wait staff that our salad was wrongly delivered, they could not seem to get it right. The pizza wasn’t that great this time either. After a 1 ½ hour experience, we ended up leaving staying we’d never return. Awful. To make matters worse my girlfriend was in the bathroom for most of the night from food poisoning which I believe was from the salad they couldn’t get right. Never again

Mid-afternoon perusing Unilocal for a healthy dinner option, we found the Wild Goat Bistro. Boasting of organic foods, farmer to table menu items, we just had to give them a try. With reservations for 4:30 and arriving at 4:35, we were seated immediately in the little dining area that overlooks the street. Glasses of water were delivered to our table as we read our menus. Just a couple other diners were in the restaurant at the time. We were greeted from the time we arrived and experienced courtesy customer service throughout our dinner. We started out with a bowl of soup — while we waited for the clock to tick away the minutes until 5pm when we could order off of their dinner menu. We were offered some bread & butter while we ate our soup. The lamb and the short ribs caught our attention from their dinner menu and once we were close to finishing our soup the waitress had the kitchen prepare our entrees. A short bottle of Brut from a local winery was a fine compliment to our meal. I would eat here again without hesitation. I agree this place is popular with the trendy local crowd of all ages in Petaluma. Dine early for best seating and service.

My daughter loves this restaurant so I have indulged her a couple of times recently. I enjoyed my food recently, but once again have to say that the atmosphere is not my scene. It’s a popular place, so crowded every night of the week. We sat at the counter the last time as we didn’t have a reservation. It was very loud with the open kitchen right there. Hard for me to have conversation with her and hard to enjoy my meal, unfortunately. Can’t wait for warmer weather when sitting outside will improve the acoustics. I want to love this restaurant.

This is the first place I’ll recommend to people new to Petaluma. Full of charm and nestled in a neat space near the river. The menu changes periodically so there’s always something new to try. Service has alway been good, and the prices won’t break the bank. There are(in my opinion) a few bad seats, so as long as you don’t get stuck in them, you’re sure to have a good time.

Love this place. Yum. Tucked away in old downtown charmed with character and never disappointing. Start with anything cheese. Nutty goat recommended with fruit and toast, followed by beans and greens and iced tea. Still hungry go for the pizza with a friend or one of the delicious entrees. Give me more.

I drove up to Petaluma for a NYE getaway from SF and decided to make a reservation here based on reviews. I’m watching what I eat so I had some options picked out from the menu before I arrive, but was happy to see that they had a Prix Fixe menu for the occasion. I was seated immediately upon arriving and was surprised to see what there was’t an empty table in the restaurant. A few different servers helped me throughout the night and they were all great and since I was seated at the bar, I saw how impressively the cooks were turning food around and everything looked great. My picks included truffled deviled eggs, beet salad, prosciutto wrapped chicken and dark chocolate mousse. The deviled eggs were good but I took off the roe and the truffle taste was extremely faint. Never had a beet salad before, after getting rid of the tomato it was great. I really enjoyed the chicken, which was stuffed with fontina and spinach. It was served with a cornbread(?) and some veggies that I passed on since I was getting full and wanted to save room for dessert. The dessert was really good — nice, rich and not too sweet. It came in a small jar and they nicely put the half I didn’t eat in a container for me to enjoy later. I have to say that the price seemed like a lot($ 60), but considering the holiday and that it was four courses I guess I can’t really complain. If I’m ever in the area I would definitely return for another meal and recommend to others.

I came all the way from sacramento because they advertised GF options. I was disappointed. We came on a Saturday at 2 pm. We were immediately seated but there was no greeting or welcome. The bistro is incredibly tiny. Just 10 tables with 2 chairs each that they move. We were next to a weird couple that kept whispering and putting their hands in their cheeks to make walls. We were so close we could have shared food. The food: we ordered the Goats Favorite Burger, farmers market salad and the Fog lifter salad. We ordered all GF and only had water. The salad was ok. Small for an $ 8 salad… definitely for 1 person. The burger arrived with a regular bun. I had just picked it up to take a bite when the waitress stops me and says it’s not GF. They took it away and brought it back in the saddest burn bread that tasted like cardboard. In their rush, they also forgot the baby greens, aioli and tomato so there was literally just beef, burnt bun and two pieces of pickles. The beef was cooked medium rare even though I asked for medium well and it wasn’t seasoned. Complete disappointment. The pizza was the highlight. The dough was cooked crispy and the topping were delicious. The edges were completely burnt –all black– but it was still the favorite part of our meal. I would never return to eat here. Our total was $ 42 without tip.

My husband and I are staying in Petaluma on our honeymoon. After a handful of meals at breweries and pubs, we decided to dine somewhere a bit nicer. The food at Wild Goat Bistro exceeded my expectations. We made a reservation for later in the evening. About 30 minutes beforehand, the restaurant called me asking if it would be OK if we sat at the bar facing the window because all the tables were full. I said that was fine. It turned out to be a great spot because we were able to look outside. It felt a little less crowded than the regular dining tables. We ordered a half bottle of the Keller Estates Pinot Noir. I probably would have enjoyed it more if I hadn’t been drinking all day, but it was still a good sipping wine. For dinner, I got the Chicken($ 18). My husband ordered the Flatiron Steak($ 24). Both dishes were AMAZING. Definitely the best meal we’ve had in the Sonoma area so far. The service was a bit lacking. I listened as our waitress told all her other tables about the specials. She didn’t ever share those with us. As other reviewers have mentioned, it is very small. My husband almost bumped the gentleman dining behind him a few times. The location is also a bit strange. It’s actually inside another building. There a couple larger tables that are out in the hallway, where I would hate to sit. 5 stars for food. Knocked off a star for less-than-spectacular service. If you’re looking for a nice dinner in downtown Petaluma, check this place out!

The Wild Goat Bistro sits near the river and has a very cute, rustic charm to it. They have a few tables outside(but you cannot drink beer or wine if you sit here) so you can dine while enjoying g a beautiful day in Petaluma. They also have an enclosed patio area with a couple tables where you can drink your wine/beer and dogs are allowed in the patio which is great. The server was very friendly and brought my pup a bowl of water as my boyfriend and I sat down at a table. We had the garlic fingerling potato appetizer with dipping sauces and that came out fast and tasty. We ordered a turkey burger and the chicken sandwich which I added wild sautéed mushrooms to and both were delicious even though it did take longer than it should have to get our food. Because we weren’t in a hurry I looked past that and just enjoyed the beautiful day with our hot, delicious lunch. There is also inside dining but we didn’t go inside the actual restaurant. It seemed a bit dark in there for such a sunny day but hey, some people like that. We didn’t order the pizza but it looked mouth watering as it passed by us. We will probably be back soon for another casual lunch and a beer.
