Drove 45 minutes to get to bakery We went because they were supposed to have a big selection of gf items. We were sadly disappointed. Not worth the trek

1st encounter with bovine bakery was at their Point Reyes location and the heavenly Armando bun. When I realized they had a 2nd location en route to wine country, I knew we had to make a pit stop. Located in the heart of downtown Petaluma, parking was easy on a Sun afternoon. They were sold out of the Armando bun so we settled on the blueberry scone. it was almost the size of my face! Really enjoyed that there were a lot of fresh blueberries but the scone overall was a bit on the dry side. You win some, you lose some. Very cute bakery and I’m sure there are other pastries there to satiate my craving.

This is the tricky part — do I rate based on Petaluma’s offerings or based on all of the bakeries I’ve been to? I’ve decided to compromise and give this place 3 stars. 2 stars if based on all of the bakeries, 4 stars if based only on Petaluma’s radius. Don’t get the blueberry buttermilk scone, barely any buttermilk in there and it is DRY. Blueberries are sour. I got the scone du jour, which was a peach/pecan scone. It was pretty good. Coffee here is better than acre coffee because I abhor SOUR notes in my coffee, I don’t understand how that became a trend, but more power to the people who want to consume it.

Cute little bakery. Would sometimes buy their gluten free scones/muffins, and it was definitely a hit or miss. They have different kinds each day, and sometimes they’d be good, and sometimes not so good. Their coffee is pretty delicious, however, and their regular pastries are yummy. A cute place to go to if you’re looking to support a local business(way better than the food Starbucks/Peet’s put out).

I wanted to surprise my sister and have a cake delivered to her school for her birthday. I live in San Diego and was placing a long distance order. I placed my order with Carolyn. She was helpful, accommodating and flexible. I ordered the coconut cake. My sister loved it! She said it was the best cake she had ever had! All of her staff loved it too! In fact, one of them ordered the cake for her family for Easter. I can’t wait to visit Bonvine Bakery the next time I am in Petaluma. Thank you!

I cannot get enough of Bovine Bakery. Everything I have had is amazing. Their bear claws are addicting. The savory croissants are oh so delicious. The staff is very friendly. You are always greeted with a smile.

I am not sure what the vegan/scone person was miffed about but I can say that Bovine’s blueberry scones are the best. The only disappointment that I’ve had is strolling in there at 3pm and being told that they were sold out of them. They are huge, they are sweet and they are reasonably priced. 2 people can share one. Vegan and scone in the same sentence? Really?

This is my favorite place to get a hot beverage; I’m a tea drinker, I used to be a cup a day coffee drinker but that’s another story I don’t want to bother you with and it has nothing to do with the quality of Bovine Bakery’s coffee which always smells great! The pastries are excellent, I haven’t had a chance to try them all but the ones I did get are super. They have pizza, quiche and soup and they use organic ingredients in all their food. The only bad part about the Bakery is there is no restroom and they are not open late enough. I forgot to mention the original Bovine Bakery is located in the town of Point Reyes so if you’re ever out there stop by they will always be happy to see you. Be sure to say hello to Shelby at the Petaluma location. She is the most sweetest girl you will ever meet, as sweet as the Pastries! Lol!

Great quiche and wonderful staff. One of our go-to breakfast joints in Petaluma. Highly recommend this bakery.

Really yummy homemade treats and soups. I love the savory scones. Of course all the sweet baked goods are also to die for Aldo. I love the pizzas and salad as well. There’s always a line out the door. Very friendly service!

Honestly I would have eaten everything in sight here. There were so many fresh, delicious looking pastries and cakes. I can’t say enough about how much I love the small local business presence in downtown Petaluma and Bovine Bakery is no exception, especially since many of their ingredients are local! I came in for lunch one day and decided to try one of their daily quiche flavors: ham, artichoke hearts, cheese, tomato, and pear. This great and unique combination was like perfection in my mouth and the crust was soft and flaky like a croissant and I finished it off with a cup of coffee. I can’t wait to go back and try a different flavor or another pastry!

The croissants are huge and delicious, buttery and flaky. Yum. I had the scone du jour, strawberry I believe, and it was moist and scrumptious. Next time I’m in Petaluma I’ll definitely be back for more bakery treats

Gluten free scone fell a little flat but the gf muffin was delish!!! Coffee is mediocre but from what I heard from my family members, the non-gf baked goods are super yummy :) Would definitely go back and recommend this place to other gluten free people.

We have been to Bovine Bakery at least 5 times and have never written a review. On our recent visit, I asked myself why I haven’t written a review and, after buying some cookies, suddenly remembered why… This place is so unforgettable. We ordered cookies… chocolate chip, peanut butter and oatmeal chocolate chip. The peanut butter cookie was raw in the middle and we had to throw it away. Both varieties of the chocolate chip cookies were underwhelming. We didn’t even finish them. My hubby reminded me later that we have never been happy with the goodies we have purchased at this location. The staff is friendly, but the baked goods are not. I can definitely say we will NOT return.

I didn’t feel welcome when I came in. The person at the front seemed to judge my choice of food and the fact that I was uncertain of what I wanted. I’d probably try a few other places before going back next time I’m in Petaluma.

This review is a critique of the experience and not the food so it is possible that the rating could be higher. We were in Petaluma for a late lunch and decided just to pop into the bakery. According to Unilocal reviews Bovine Bakery is considered vegan-friendly though I would never have guessed that based on the bakery’s name. And since I am a sucker for baked goods, I figured, why not? It was late in the day so I think I had my expectations sufficiently in check. The wait was not long. The counter staff seemed very distracted but friendly enough. I asked about the vegan options and she pointed out that they usually had a vegan scone every day but they were sold out. She showed me the vegan cookies and«energy bar» made with nuts & seeds. Do not get me wrong, as a healthy vegan I live on nuts and seeds. But quite frankly, when I walk into a bakery I am not going in looking for a healthy treat I am going in looking for something decadent and delicious just like the non-vegan customer. And they may have been perfectly tasty but to me it seemed like a token effort. My other thought was this-there were a dozen baked goods or more that were not vegan that were probably going to get sold as day olds the next day so why not make less of them and more vegan scones! And how about a cupcake? She did mention that their soup of the day is vegan which is great! I will be happy to give them another try the next time I’m in Petaluma. Finger crossed it will be worth my effort.

Ok, so this is super embarrassing that I have **19** check-ins(and counting) to this place. Why aren’t any of the other regulars(and I KNOW you’re out there!) checking in and cashing in on the 10% coupon??? I still like this place, mostly for their savory scones, but I’m a little bored with the selection now and it seems like many of the items are too dry. My daughter still enjoys the orange choco-chip scone, and at $ 3 a whack(or whatever it is), it doesn’t hurt to check in and grab that 10% discount. Just sayin’…

A quaint little café in downtown Petaluma! We were getting ready for a long drive and decided to get some breakfast for the road. As we walked in, the atmosphere was very welcoming and homey. It seemed like a neighborhood bakery where they knew everyone who would walk in unless you’re from out of town. They showcased quite a variety of pastries on their shelf but I had to go with the majority and got myself a MORNINGBUN. It’s their version of a cinnamon roll but way better. It’s rich and is covered with a good amount of sticky glaze which I love. I would’ve preferred to eat it warm and I know it would be more sensational if it was, sadly, we were on the road so I had to eat it as is. Still great especially with their coffee. I didn’t get to check what coffee they were serving there but they have a do-it-yourself counter where you get your own coffee before paying. It was some good coffee, I tell you! I could easily see this place become my go-to café if I lived in the area. Very nice and warm people working here. I like it! Don’t forget to check-in on Unilocal for a 10% discount :)
