Like most of the reviews this is a great place for a Friday Night Fish Fry, and definitely be prepared to wait. However, I was really underwhelmed with their weekday and Saturday menus. This place has all the makings to be a great supper club every day of the week, but instead of sticking to a traditionally done and well executed supper club menu, they basically morph into a fried chicken shack Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays reserving Wednesday nights for a full blown American Mexican menu. We went there on a Wednesday night thinking we would get a nice steak dinner, then asked our server what they would recommend and she replied with«you should really try the nachos». We passed on the nachos, but did take them up on another suggested menu item — the«I’ll just have a burger» off of their sandwich menu. It was a really good burger, and the staff was very friendly. Just not what I expected from a Lake Country Supper Club.

Was excited to finally try this place but am very disappointed. The service was awesome! But the food was not good at all. The seafood soup was way too peppery. The fried walleye and the fries were very dry and seasonless. I was expecting much more but I had no such luck…

Ribs are good! Shrimp are good! Hearty salad and many selections for dressings. Crème Brule excellent. Friendly wait staff and cozy Wisconsin atmosphere. Nice fire place going too!

Our favorite fish fry. Its consistently great. We get the Perch. Expect an hour wait on a Friday night but we don’t mind because we relax with a cocktail. They have $ 1.50 Bottles of PBR and great beer on tap! Servers and bartenders great and friendly! Some have been there 18 years plus

Very good service, very cordial bartenders but the lake perch DIDNOT live up to expectations. Breading was way too heavy. I’ve had much better perch at other places. I’d probably go back but would not order the perch.

If you want to enjoy their fantastic Fish Fry, get there before 5 o clock or grab an order to go and sip on a $ 2PBR while you wait. The Cod is meaty and covered with a golden brown crisp batter. The flavor is mild so a few extra shakes of salt don’t hurt. Crinkle cut fries nicely compliment.

Not impressed. We came here for a birthday dinner and it was a real let-down. Steaks had no flavor and were very chewy. There were some serious inconsistencies … my mom and I ordered the same meal: steak with fried shrimp. She had 4 shrimp on her plate while I only had 3? Weird. My stepdad seemed happy with his fish though. Staff was nice but we won’t come here again.

Great Chicken and Fish Fry and well worth the wait for a table. Desserts are house-made and very good.

Our server Lori was great! She was so nice and knowledgable. From the moment we sat down, she was so attentive, went over all the specials and even tried to convince us to order dessert. If your in the mood for fish fry, or just a great meal, this is the best around. Thank you Lori for a fabulous night!

The 5 O’Clock Club is one of our favorite places to go for a fish fry. If you go on a Friday or Saturday, yes, you’re going to wait a while for a table. But while you wait, they have nice outside tables or a friendly bartending staff if you choose to stay inside. The food is good and plentyful. The fish fry is not greasy as other’s often are. The décor is dated and old but it’s a traditional Wisconsin supper club style place. Always fun!

If a good fish fry is what you’re after, keep looking. My wife and I went here in search of a new place for a Friday fry. The restaurant is located with a scenic view of Pewaukee Lake and must thrive off of people who live around the area. The bar was festive and the bartenders were attentive and mixed a good drink. We had a long wait time for dinner(half hour to 45 minutes) so we ordered the breaded mushrooms as an appetizer and they were served with… cocktail sauce. We thought it was a strange condiment to serve with the mushrooms(we are accustomed to ranch) but we nonetheless ate them and came away unimpressed. For dinner we both ordered the baked cod. Upon arriving at our table, we were met with a bowl of cole slaw(in vinegar as opposed to creamy cole slaw) and some rye bread. The cod meal only came with an option of french fries as opposed to having a choice of a baked potato or potato pancakes and for the price, the food was definitely not worth it. The fish was dry and crispy instead of a desired moist and light. The fries even seemed too crispy like they had just been sitting under a hot lamp since before we arrived. I’m pretty easy to please as far as food goes, but the lack of quality/freshness was very evident. As for the service, our waitress never once bothered to come over and ask how we were doing or if she could get us anything else. I did manage to flag her down in the middle of our meal to request more tartar sauce to put on my dried out fish. One other review mentioned that they felt like cattle being herded in and out of this place and we felt the same way. I don’t know if it was a bad night but we will definitely not be coming here again. If you’re looking for a place to grab a drink and sit outside with a view of a lake, this could be your place. However, the dining experience and trek out to the 5 O’Clock Club was definitely not worth it.

Definitely have experienced better. I understand this is homey food but the food is very unoriginal and uninspired. Overpaid for a salad for sure…

We went on a Friday night, this place is popular, we waited for nearly an hour! Thank goodness we were with good friends or I would have left. Service once we were seated was excellent, our waitress was very nice, efficient and friendly. Our food was great, terrific fish, cod, walleye, breaded mushrooms, coleslaw French fries. A great Wisconsin Friday night fish fry!!!

I called in a lunch order during the week because I didn’t have time to sit there and eat on my lunch break. My order consisted of their crispy duck wings and«Prospect Avenue», which is a grilled chicken and bacon sandwich with three kinds of cheese on Italian bread. The duck wings were very disappointing. $ 7.25 gets you five wings that had more fat than meat and very little of either in the first place. If you like sauce with your wings, they thankfully give you two different kinds on the side for dipping the wings in to them edible. These were the main reason why I wanted to try 5 O’Clock Clue and honestly, I would have rather gotten 18 chicken wings at Buffalo Wild Wings during their Thursday special for the price of five duck wings. The most bland crinkle cut fries in the world were the default option for my sandwich’s side and if I had known that I would have asked to substitute anything else(except more duck wings). Even tons of salt and pepper packets couldn’t save these things. I’m not a big ketchup person but I would have gladly used it had I had some. The«Prospect Avenue» sandwich looked amazing when I opened the box. Lots of melty cheese, crispy bacon, and thick pieces of Italian bread. I picked up the sandwich and noticed that the bottom was super greasy from all the butter they used to grill the bread. Based on how the sandwich looked, my first bite was again a letdown. The chicken itself had no flavor and was tough to chew. At least the bacon, cheese, and bread were tasty. In summary, the wings were disappointing, the fries were nasty, and the chicken was bland. The redeeming points were that the bacon was crispy, the three cheeses were melty instead of still in slice form, and they were very fast in completing my order while I drove to pick it up. Though there were other things on the menu that I wanted to try, I probably won’t be eating here again.

This has become one of the places I like to go and have a good home cooked meal. For me, its the Classy Cluck that I find delightful. If you haven’t tried this place, it is a must. As for libations, they make one heck of a Moscow Mule.

Descriptive phrase: home-grown food in a townie place. Wisconsinites love fish fry’s, even more so during Lent. Growing up in Waukesha, I’d heard of the 5 O’Clock Club out in Pewaukee before. I finally made it out for their famous fish fry this past Friday. 5OCC is located on Pewaukee Lake. It’s hidden off the main drag down a long, old driveway. I got there around 4:30PM and the parking lot was already completely full. The place itself is an early 1900s house and there are plenty of pictures inside remembering this time. Goodness, they can cram the people inside. There were easily over 100 people in the house, with probably 60 of them just waiting to sit. It’s a big house, and there are 3 main sitting areas with a bar and bar-seat area in the middle. I was waiting for my group to arrive, so I got myself a drink. It took a while to get the bartender’s attention. There were 4 of them hustling from patron to patron, it was just that busy. I was reminded I was back in real Wisconsin when I asked for a Manhattan(~$ 5) and she said«You want that with brandy?» I opted for bourbon. They’re not lying when they say the drinks are strong. Hooo-ie! I honestly don’t know if I’ve ever had a Manhattan like that. You’ll get your money’s worth, that’s for sure. They didn’t have a lot of beer on draft, but they did have their own amber-style beer so that gets extra points from me. There really isn’t much space to sit and wait, so I just stood by the bar. My group got there about 30 minutes later(sheesh!), but it only took another 5 minutes to get seated. However, a relative who got there 10 minutes before I was seated still hadn’t been called by the time we were leaving. Beware if you arrive after 5PM, you’ll be waiting past 6.(And no, there are no reservations on Fridays) The food: 1) Don’t eat the bread that’s already on the table, it’s been there a while and is straight out of the grocery bag. 2) I’m not a coleslaw guy, but their’s was okay(vinegar-based). 3) Get the Cod(~$ 13). Mound of crinkle-cut fries were great, and the 4 – 5 large pieces of fish were perfectly crispy. There was nearly no wait on the food, and overall I was happy with my meal. It’s definietely one of the better fish fry’s in the area, and the atmosphere adds to the experience, but the waiting-game can get old enough to make me not want to come back for a while. Recommended fish fry if you’ve never been or live nearby.

First, what is there NOT to like about Wisconsin? I don’t miss Illinois, but I miss Wisconsin from when I lived in Illinois. On business this week in Milwaukee and met my clients here(they are local and suggested this location). A long term restaurant from 1929, family owned. The fish fry was suggested, Cod and Perch. This is by far the best I have had! Short and sweet. Portions? Well you will not need anything for dinner after lunch! Staff? Excellent. Refer? You Betcha’! Word of advice, get here early.

This place is… Brace yourself… The best restaurant in Lake Country. I’m not kidding. For its price range, I would rather eat here than anywhere else in the world. Everybody seems to be drawn to the fish fry, but if you ask me, Friday is the worst night to eat at the old Five-Oh. Here’s why. On Fridays, it’s freakin packed. For me it’s like living in Cancun and loving it most of the year, and Fridays at 5’O are like Spring Break in Cancun. It sucks. It’s almost touristy. It’s when the people who don’t know 5’O go to 5’O. Forget the fish fry. It’s good, but anyone can fry fish. And everyone does. Go on a Wednesday, ask to be seated in Jodi’s section, and order any of the specials. Look around and embrace the supper club vibe, the fossilizing regulars, the strong and cheap drinks! Check out the drink specials. Order homemade ice cream. Have a cheese plate. All of these things and more will make your experience great. Period. If all else fails, order a burger. I’m serious, it’s flipping awesome, and I’m a burger snob. Hell, I’m an everything snob. Don’t like crinkle cut fries? Get fruit and cottage cheese on the side. Go right now. GO!!! Why haven’t you left yet? Stop reading and GO!!!
