Very sad this place is no longer a part of the Pflugerville Food Park or even in business at all! It was by far the best BBQ in the N. Austin/Round Rock/Pflugerville area. Very very sad!

I had the opportunity to visit Hall of Flame BBQ again yesterday. I have to say OHMYGOSH! Best beef rib and potato salad EVER! The sausage and brisket were fabulous as well.

I was so excited after seeing the high praise but I gotta say, the BBQ was good but could be much better. The rub was pretty good, maybe just a tad bit too sweet, but I could taste the salt and pepper in it, which is very good. I tried the sausage, brisket and pork ribs. The ribs and brisket pretty much tasted exactly the same. The smoke ring and crust on the edges was awesome. In my opinion, everything was undercooked by a pretty big amount. This can be a very subjective thing, but I am used to eating crazy tender BBQ. Don’t get me wrong, this is good BBQ, but while eating it I really missed having some LA or Franklin BBQ. Ugh I’m like a spoiled little kid.

I’ve had good bbq; I’ve had really good bbq; And I’ve had, extremely damn good bbq. Thats what Hall of Flame BBQ is. I think it’s the way the sides pair with the meats, that makes them so good. You have got to try the wasabi cole slaw! What an amazing idea, to eat with your bbq. The baked beans are excellent as well. The potato salad made to perfection. Then there are the meats… The brisket is perfectly smoked, and has the nice smoke ring to show for it. I’ve had it several times, and it has always been super moist and tasty! The sausage, and pulled pork are delicious as well. Then there are the beef ribs… Where do I start… Holy crap were they’re monstrous! When I looked at them in the smoker, I asked John if they came from a brontosaurus? These puppies were humongous!!! And boy did they taste good! Lastly, Wall of Flame, has an awesome variety of home made bbq sauces that you have to try. There are 14 different varieties he puts out. Apple, peach, pineapple, blackberry, chipotle, etc. Ask about super hot sauces, and special limited edition bbq sauces, such as chocolate, he may have in the back from time to time. Yes I did say CHOCOLATEBBQSAUCE. It’s worth the drive from anywhere, to try some damn good Q!

What can I say about my brother from another trailer?! John’s BBQ is by far the best in Brisketville(formally known as Pflugerville), and he can go toe to toe with any of the«heavy hitters» in Austin. I recommend the chopped beef; my wife doesn’t even like BBQ, yet won’t let me leave the Pflugerville Pfood Ranch without bringing some home.

I’m no expert, but after trying the brisket, beef ribs, sausage, pulled pork, chopped beef, pork ribs, baked beans, wasabi cole slaw, and banana pudding, I can definitively say Hall of Flame BBQ knows what it’s doing with a smoker. My favorite, surprisingly, was the pork ribs, though the brisket and chopped beef were pretty outstanding too. The brisket had a great smoke ring and the fat layer literally melted in my mouth. The wasabi cole slaw is the new standard to which all BBQ sides are compared. And, because there aren’t enough synonyms for«delicious», all I can say is that the banana pudding is super amazing delicious. No matter what, order the banana pudding. The guys who own Hall of Flame BBQ are some pretty cool guys who I got to meet at my last visit. If you have time(and the line isn’t too long), take a minute to talk to them about what they do. Thanks John and Shannon!

I don’t even know where to start with this review. I’ll try to keep it short and sweet but could honestly go on for hours talking about this place. Here is my short and sweet review. Holy sweet baby Jesus of all things smoked this is some good shit!!! The lowdown. Brisket: The best I’ve ever had. I always try two things when I go to a new BBQ joint… ribs and brisket. The brisket is moist and tender. I honestly think they rub it with meth because it is frickin addictive! One bite and you’ll want them open everyday of the week. Pork Ribs: I’ll be completely honest;I do not, nor have I ever liked BBQ sauce in ribs. That being said, HoF BBQ serves the ONLY rib with sauce on it that I have ever been able to eat. The ribs are perfectly cooked with a slight sweetness and very tender. Beef Ribs: These are hard to cook right and HoF does them right. Seasoned just right and you don’t have to worry about cutting your gums on the bark. I’ve liked beef ribs but haven’t ordered them that much. HoF beef ribs I will be getting more often. Wasabi Cole Slaw… Are you f-ing kidding me?! Who in their right mind would come up with such a thing? It’s killer! Crisp slaw with a slight kick in the pants from the wasabi. My new favorite side. Today I tried the Nickelback Sandwich. Don’t be turned off by the name. Unlike the band, this sandwich doesn’t suck at all. I’ve eaten at a TON of BBQ joints. HoF is doing everything right. The owners appreciate every customer and go out of their way to give nothing less than exemplary customer service. Do yourself a culinary favor and go. These guys deserve success and with their growing fan base I’m confident they will have it.

BBQ — I lusting after BBQ and was told of the BBQ truck on AW Grimes, it was a dark and dreary night but I found it just south of toll road 45 and pulled in. Walked up and looked at the menu. Hum, I want everything. Well here goes! I ordered ½ lb of moist brisket, 1 qtr chicken, ½ lb of sausage, ½ lb of pulled pork, and ½ lb of pork ribs plus a side of wasabi slaw and potato salad. Bread and raw onion were included. I ordered it to go. I drove home and the wife and I started to eat. The brisket and pulled pork were great, the wife liked the chicken so much I didn’t get any but a byte and it was fine. The sausage was good also. The wasabi kick in the slaw was OK the wife liked it better than I. The potato salad was different than I ever h ad but was good. Overall both the wife and I like the BBQ, I understand they are moving to Pflugerville sometime in January to a new food truck court. Would I go back? Yes I want to try the pulled pork sandwich.

OHMYGOD! This is the best BBQ — EVER! I crave the Brenda Lee with the wasabi coleslaw on a weekly basis and since they are around the corner, it is easy to get my fix! The owner is awesome, the staff is very friendly! I will definitely be back and it will become one of my frequent stops! The menu is very unique and I am going to make a point of trying everything that is on there!

Very tasty and convenient! My husband dropped by on his way home from work last week and picked up the dinner for four combo. We had brisket and sausage, both very good! For sides we tried the baked beans(these were ok), potatoes(delish) and wasabi coleslaw — I’m not a wasabi fan but it was good. My husband loved it, and when he ate the leftovers a couple of days later it was even hotter! We will definitely stop here again.

You know what the problem with Round Rock is? There’s no Austin in it, which means the streets in this city are lined up with chain fast food restaurants that add no personality to this town. Thanks to my fellow Unilocalers, I found this mom-n-pop food trailer right off of A.W. Grimes. It’s a hidden gem with some really awesome stuff and I’m proud to announce that there is a real BBQ joint in RR. The owner John was very nice and his crew made my 1st experience a great one. They let me sample a bunch of their meats and sides before placing my order. Here are my favorites and what I ended up getting: 1) Moist brisket. When I tried a sample, they just pulled it from the pit and it was so moist, it was slipping from my fingers. 2) Pork ribs. Beautifully smoked and piping hot when I got these. There’s a nice rub and although I would’ve liked a little bit more salt to it, I ended up ordering 2 lbs because they were so good. 3) Sausage. Juicy with lots of flavor. It’s not the sausage with the gritty texture like Elgin sausage, but it’s also not plastic tasting like some chain BBQ restaurants. I ended up getting 2 links because my wife is picky! 4) Potato salad. It’s potato salad with a kick of spice to it which I really liked. 5) Wasabi coleslaw. I love love love coleslaw and this one has a very interesting twist, in a good way. Overall, the food here is great and the service is excellent. I have yet to try the pulled pork(they were out today) and the sandwiches, which sound really amazing. Definitely going to be coming back here soon and will be a regular! P. S. — I checked in on my Unilocal app and got a free side!

Just stopped by for the first time tonight. My husband and I love to eat at the food truck parks downtown, so it was really exciting to find one so close to home, and with such quality food. The BBQ is delicious, and they have a wide variety of sauces, all made in-house. We tried the Nickelback and the James Taylor. Nickelback is a BBQ sampler on a bun. Chopped beef, sausage, and bacon. Choose a sauce to kick it up or eat it plain. James Taylor is the EXCELLENT pulled pork with wasabi cole slaw on top and Carolina sauce. The pork is so tender it just melts in your mouth. On top of all that goodness, they deliver! We will certainly be back.

I’ve been twice now and the food has been great both times. This place isn’t just doing the same ol’ thing with BBQ. Sure they have the usual fair, but where else can you go and get a smoked sausage sandwich with wasabi coleslaw, blackberry BBQ sauce, pepperoni and a fried egg?! That’s right wasabi coleslaw!(The sandwich is called the Jimi Hendrix Experience BTW) I’m looking forward to trying everything on the menu(and even new items as they come up with them). I had the sliced brisket sandwich today and it was juicy and delicious. I’m especially looking forward to them adding a super spicy item to the menu(It’s only fitting with a name like theirs that they have a sandwich that sets your mouth ablaze). The only downside to this place is that because the owners do this outside of their 9 – 5 jobs, the place is only open for dinner so far. Which means you’re going to have to wait until the evening to get your BBQ fix.

A solid 5 stars! Never in a million years would I have thought such a great quality BBQ trailer would be located in Round Rock. We read some great reviews on Unilocal and headed up there last week. Had some warm and friendly service and then the first bite of the food was something that could only happen in central Texas. We had the brisket and chicken and it was full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The sides of beans and the wasabi cole slaw moved the 4 star rating up to a 5. Great find!

Went again, still excellent food and service, still not disappointed. Why is it so hard to find consistently great food in this town? Fortunately, it’s always great at this place — not the hit or miss that I’m used to everywhere else here. These guys actually care about their product, and you can taste it in every bite. If you haven’t stopped already, you should invest 10 minutes of your day and 10 $ — you’ll be a regular in no time. I’ll see you guys soon for some more of that awesome potato salad.

I’m not one to write reviews here on Unilocal, but I feel this place deserves recognition. I’ve driven by this place every weekday and finally made it a point to stop by today around 5:10 p.m. I walked up, ordered the Brenda Lee(brisket and burnt ends), and in the meantime was given samples of the potato salad, wasabi cole slaw(much better than I anticipated) and their beans. When my sandwich was finished, I was asked if I wanted any extra sauce. I was then told they had many different types of sauce. I went with original, but recall hearing there was a pineapple sauce. I’ll have to try that next time. The meat was extremely flavorful and not too dry. The only downside, which isn’t HoFBBQ’s fault, is the Texas heat here during the summer. The people here can’t control the weather, so not much can be done. I feel if the heat wasn’t such a factor, more people would be lining up for this place. Take a parasol or something and go get in line. It’s worth the heat.
