This place is fantastic, and as far as coffee shops go, one of the best I’ve ever«stumbled upon». The building is the original 1900’s fire house for the city of Pharr, and the inside has a historic, industrial feel to it. They have kept some of the historic value to the building by leaving some of the original brick uncovered, along with the beams in the ceiling. Overall it has a great atmosphere. Coffee: I’m currently sipping on a chai tea latte(almond milk). It’s wonderfully spicy, perfect amount of foam. Not overly sweet. They have various other coffee offerings, and a few standard tea bags available. Also, they have a coffee roaster on site where they roast their own beans to make their coffee. To me this is a large cut above«other» coffee shops that use«name brand» beans. Unfortunately, when I asked about purchasing a bag, I was sadly told that they had run out :-(My only assumption here is either the coffee is so good it sells out quickly, or they do not produce enough to sell. My hope is it is the former rather than the later. I was however told that their other locations should have some available. Food: They have the traditional coffee house pastries. I have not tried them so I shall not say anything other than — «They look good». Another reason I gave this location a 5 star: THETABLES!!! Anyone that has done homework at a coffee shop understands the value of table space. The location has 1 large ‘gathering’ table which is in the center(see photos), 2 booths on the side of the café, 2 extra large window booths, and three single tables(think chess board size). The part that makes them above the rest, is that in all of the booths is an outlet in the center of the table with 3 prong outlets and 2USB outlets. Much nicer than having to crawl under the table to plug in. Currently I am sitting at one of the window booths, and with my computer + nursing textbook, I’m not even taking up a third of the space. Staff: the one female staff member that I have interacted with here is extremely nice, friendly, and helpful. She was very knowledgeable in regards to coffee, and the menu. Bathroom: clean. ‘nouff said. ;-) Parking: some on the street, some on the side of the building. Drive-thru available.

The vibe at this moonbeans couldn’t be more different than at the original in McAllen and that is a good thing. The location is a an old fire station giving it a cool look. Also maybe it was just the time of day, but the place wasn’t packed with hipsters talking too loudly. This is a good place to study and sit. In some seats you can see the guys in the next room roasting and packing coffee. The roasting make the place smell great! One downside is lack of parking, but I have the feeling that this place doesn’t get incredibly crowded, which I like. The coffee is far superior to Starbucks and the crowd is less distracting. I’ll definitely be back to study and have a coffee here again.

Enjoy stopping and supporting this local coffee shop. Alyssa was a friendly barista and artist(check out her drawings of her fellow baristas and see who is serving that day-posted on the side wall of the iPad) who delightfully made my coffee and provided helpful weather information! This is a location in Pharr that roasts their beans every Tuesday morning.

Cute place in an old volunteer firehouse. Met a friend there today. Coffe great as is to be expected at Moonbeans. Was sad they did not have sandwiches or some other«real food» as well as the muffins, cookies and scones. Would for sure go again. Nice atmosphere; quiet; hostpitable. Only complaint: where’s the food, folks? :-)
