I loved the guy at the breakfast side he is very quick and is doing his job but the lines are crazy the place is too small and the tables are so close to each other it’s uncomfortable… The waitress was good but the line for the buffet was Anoyying and the line to pay was annoying

We went here for dinner and the service was awful! The server only checked on us one time and the food was sub-par. The portion sizes were OK but the food was bland. The two tables next to us were not cleaned off in the 1 hour time period we were there. The waiter also gave us unwrapped straws and put them right on the dirty table… a little sanitation issue if you ask me. I would not go back to this restaurant and would not recommend anyone to try this place.

I had heard from many that the Sunday breakfast buffet was not to be missed. So I made it a point to make a stop in while visiting family. I have been to another location of Poncho’s before for dinner and was pleased enough. But the breakfast here isn’t all that I had it cracked up to be. Sure, there are a lot of selections of Mexican breakfast items, but none of them are particularly good. To make matters worse, the place gets packed and by the time you actually make it around the buffet in the chaotic line, your food is cold. The order of things doesn’t really make sense. There are a couple of stations off of the main buffet, and the special-order grill for pancakes and omelettes is strangely in the corner, so you have to wait in the entire long line to get there to just wait in line again. Food wise, the gorditas were decent and probably the highlight for me. Nothing was awful, but little was something I’d think of to come back for. Maybe I’m asking for too much in a breakfast buffet, but this was just a big downer for me and wouldn’t come back, at least for breakfast anyway. If you want to really hit the breakfast out of the park, have a nicer balance of savory and sweet, as the sweet is seriously lacking right now. The only option that really exists are pancakes, but the line to get them specially made is rather obnoxious. The fruit area is a nice addition, but it, too, is awkwardly placed and can easily be forgotten among the mess of lines and dirty plates that it sits next to. Let’s get real, the buffet at Golden Corral would have been a huge step up from this place, and that’s sure saying something.

Four stars based on our lunch experience alone. If you’re going for dinner, check the notes at the bottom for past experiences. We wandered in here today during a frenzy of wedding shopping for a quick bite and a michelada. It couldn’t have come at a more perfect time — the drink was actually one of the best Miches that I’ve had and that’s saying something. We each ordered some tortilla soup and the Tacos Reynosa. The«small» soup was actually a legitimately sized bowl of soup and it was full of crispy strips, shredded chicken and a nice rich broth. The tacos reynosa were kind of boring — but you also had to construct them and I could have been remiss. Do come prepared with a spanish translator. The service was good, the prices were a tad high but everything was prompt and tasty. Four’s probably a bit high but I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt. Notes on Dinner: Expect loud, loud and mariachis(loud). Also, service has only been mediocre in the past. This is the relatively distant past though so feel free to prove me wrong.

I’m a harsh foodie. I came out here(hung-over, mind you) on a Sunday morning with a big crowd of about 10 family members. The food was great, and the service was pretty respectable considering the size of our party. I ate dinner once at the one on 10th, and that was rather weak, but this was a different location and a different meal. I would recommend the Sunday breakfast buffet to anyone I know. Fresh corn and flour tortillas also, mind you.

Awful! This was a MexiCan’t restaurant and I will surely never return. Seeing that the place is in Pharr, TX it definitely makes it a locals joint. I grew up in California and couldn’t seem to appreciate their Tex-Mex cuisine. I had chosen the place for lunch based on a recommendation of a life long RGV resident and it was crazy packed. The décor is typical, but felt dated. The place was also sloppy hot and made it more unpleasant; not a great start I would say. Anytime I visit a Mexican restaurant I always order the enchilada plate, which in my opinion is very simple and a good way to gauge ability. On this occasion they massacred the dish. The sauce was bland and tomato-ey! The chicken was under seasoned and tasted just boiled. Finally, the refried beans and rice were not impressive. To top it off the in house«mariachi» sounded like howling coyotes. In the end it’s disappointing and unfair this place is robbing people blind. Sadly if given the choice next time I would go with the fast food monster Chipotle. So sad!
