If calories didn’t matter I would be here 3 – 4 times a week. They have steamed and fried platters with different combinations of seafood. They are all reasonably priced/filling/sharable. But they have seafood by the pound in their own signature butter sauce and I love it. My friends and I are still trying to deduce the recipe from taste. It’s amazing! Downfalls are it’s always crowded, and you have to tell them to heat it up. It seems silly to tell them to heat your food up but I’m guessing people will take it home to heat it up at their leisure. But all in all they are my new favorite seafood spot in philly.

Every time I drive past this place it is packed. This is usually a good sign right? Wrong! I finally had the chance to stop in to get some grub. I had a serious hankering for some fried shrimp so figured this would be a great time to give this place a try. I don’t know where to begin. As usual there were a lot of people in there waiting to get their food. Issue #1) When I ordered my food I asked for a bottle of soda. The young lady informed me that a can of so came with my order but they do not have bottles. What kind of eatery does not carry bottles? Issue #2) I ordered a combination patter(more than enough to share with my peeps at home). It had a 6 shrimp, 6 scallops, &1lb of fish(plus 4 blue crabs on the side.) No problem; thought nothing of it. However, when my order was up, it was in a huge aluminum pan. I thought to myself, «Wow. That was more food than I imagined.» Still no problem. Then I looked in the pan… there was a sea of french-fries under the seafood. Issue #3) After I got over the sight of so many freakin’ french-fries, I took my trough of food home and attempted to eat some. Notice I said attempted. Remember all of those french-fries? They must have been cooked two days ago and reheated. They must have been there to soak up the grease. Then there’s the scallops. I’ve never seen scallops breaded and cooked only on the tops and the sides. The shrimps were like rubber. The fish was about the only edible thing on the plate. That was a huge waste of time and money. I wouldn’t even give the scraps to the homeless. It’d be an insult to their humanity. Needless to say I will never go back. This is not the place for me! I’m still trying to figure out why people keep going back???

Ok– now I’ve eaten and it was really good! I spent a fortune on fish and chips in Center City at Dandelion, and quite frankly, this was better. Better fish, better fry and totally better fries. The people were really nice. No tables, though had to eat in the car. Oh! Fantastic horseradish coleslaw.

Well, tried the deluxe and the flounder/whiting platters. The scallops are fake, they are a rolled form of something and smelled horrible … The remainder of the fish and fries are ok. The flounder wasn’t fresh, previously frozen… I would go again, but stick with the fish in this ghetto/hood establishment. Because of the fake scallops… One star
