The Blue Cross River Rink Summer Fest is a great new addition to the Delaware waterfront. Like Spruce Street Harbor Park, it has plenty of seating, a fake beach, food and drink, and unlike Spruce Street, includes both a roller rink and an air conditioned tent. The prices were reasonable $ 5-$ 6 per beer or other alcoholic beverage, and it also offers cheap food including hot dogs and popcorn. There are two projection TVs inside the tent, so this could be a fun place to watch a sporting event. They were not showing the US women’s national team beat Colombia on my visit there, which was perhaps a lost opportunity. All around, I think this is a cool place, and I very much appreciate the chance to go inside into air conditioning when you get overheated after sitting in the oversized Adirondack-style rocking chairs they have outside overlooking the roller rink and the Delaware.

The people that work at the Summerfest, are the NICEST people you will come across. So helpful and kind. Our group was very thankful. I heard it is this way every time you go. The atmosphere is fun and laid back.

Where Winterfest was begins a new tradition in Philly — SummerFest. Where ice skating reigned, now lace up your roller skates or in-lines. This is a nice warm weather addition to the popular Philadelphia waterfront and it anchors a destination a little upstream from Spruce Street Harbor Park. Yeah the food is a little too expensive — why are the prices always inflated at Philly’s pop-up venues? And they need to also reduce the waiting lines for food and beverage. But there is an outpost of Shane’s Candies — America’s oldest — so things on the food front aren’t all bad. Summerfest is a good place to chill out or get some exercise — your choice!
