I’ve been to Cuggini several times for a ring that has great sentimental value but is poorly constructed so needs regular repairs. My experience with Jim is consistently excellent– he is a kind, thoughtful man who clearly puts great care into his work and how he treats his customers. His pricing is also beyond reasonable and he goes above and beyond to make sure I have what I need. Highly recommend!

I started going to Jim based on a recommendation and now he is the only jeweler that I go to. He is super talented and takes a lot of pride in his work. His work is flawless and he is awesome to deal with. The shop is understated and charming. The shop is located just right outside of the Jeweler’s row, so it is convenient to get to.

Wonderful service! I brought my Nana’s wedding and engagement rings in to be resized to use as my rings for my wedding THIS weekend. He turned them around in a day (could have been sooner but picking up the next day was easier for me). They look absolutely amazing and fit perfectly! He mentioned that he would shine them up for me but I was stunned when I saw how perfect they looked. A really special moment to be wearing her rings and I appreciate that the experience was so pleasant and warm. Will absolutely recommend and will bring in future repairs when I need a great jeweler!

Just picked up my custom wedding band from Jim and couldn’t be happier with the whole process and the finished result. All in all I felt like this was less of a business transaction and more of an old friend making my wedding band. We spent some time going over what we wanted, what designs we liked, etc. and he really got to know us and what we were thinking and intrinsically wanted to make us happy. After making some drawings we came back a week later to a wax mold of the shape and size to try on and after some final tweaks he had it made within a few days. Came to pick it up today and it was absolutely perfect. I have no hesitation recommending Jim to my family and friends and will most certainly be back in the future.

I started going to Jim to have my wedding rings sized, polished and plated almost 6 – 7 years ago. He always has them done in a day (no waiting for a couple days like most jewelers). He’s helped adjust earring posts that were too think to fit my earlobes and recently salvaged a fave earring that I lost, leaving me with one, through creating a customized ring. I love the ring almost much if not more than the earring. He offered to duplicate the earring, but I had my heart set on creating something completely new. I used a necklace that I had (and never wore) for materials and there was a enough gold left that I traded it for his service/​time. So the ring was essentially free since I never wore the necklace that got converted.
He puts his heart into his work and pays special attention to detail. Don’t let the appearance of his shop fool you into thinking that any other place will take the same care with your jewels; he’s an artist. Jim’s shop is a hidden gem in the highly cluttered, competitive and salesy jewelers row.

I recently brought a nondescript twin diamond ring to Jim at Cuggini Jewelers to be reset. He was professional, kind, and patiently answered all my questions. Instinctively, I knew I made the right choice.
When my ring was finished, I was literally stunned by the transformation, the beauty, the attention to detail and the fact that Jim understood what I wanted better than I did. (Please see the four photos I posted here. They don’t do it justice, but you can get an idea about how special it is).
I have since taken several other pieces to Cuggini and even the smallest repair has been handled with the same integrity.
Jim’s workmanship goes far beyond that of a great jeweler. You can’t compare him to anyone else– he’s in a league of his own and I have an enormous amount of respect for him.
Don’t hesitate to bring your most precious jewelry here (I did). The end result will take your breath away.

Jim Cuggini is a very talented artist who can make any kind of jewelry you want. I have bought and sold jewelry from/​to him on several occasions. He always gives you a fair price and his prices for jewelry are very reasonable. I have recommended him to many people, and everyone has been very satisfied. Don’t be discouraged when you see his tiny shop, he’s not about impressing you with a fancy front. He’s an honest, hard working jeweler, who you can trust. Not a common thing down in Jewelers Row.

Jim is amazing! He has made my engagement ring, wedding bands, and also a necklace that my husband got me for Mother’s Day. He is an amazing person and is great at making any piece of jewelry. If you don’t check him out, you are a fool! :)

There is a special place in my heart for this guy.
James has made custom rings for me, fixed a broken necklace chain, copied a missing buckle for a pair of my favorite wedges, and is in the process of copying an earring that used to be my favorite pair until I lost one. He’s my savior, and I’m so happy to have met him.
Pricing is fair, and the conversations I’ve had with him are amazing and thought-​provoking… topics span clean eating, martial arts, moving people with your mind, and buddhists with the ability to change their body temperature at whim.
It’s been 3 weeks and we’re on a first-​name, hug-​when-​we-​say-​good-​bye-​basis.

I have not been very happy with jewelry services on Jeweler’s row in the past, but I thought I would give this place a try based on the previous Unilocal reviews. Well this place is like a blast from the past — the owner runs the shop and does all the work himself. He is extremely inexpensive and accommodating, and knows his craft. I am going back to get my wedding ring and engagement rings resized — this is my new favorite place for jewelry repair.

I can’t believe how amazing finding Cuggini Jewelers was. I just got engaged and I was upset that my ring was too large. I didn’t want to take it to the mall and be without it for even a day, so through some searching on the internet I found Jim.
Jim was very kind to me during the process and allowed me to sit with him, and walked me through every step! I watched him saw through my platinum ring (!!!) After a little bit of soldering and lots of polish, my ring is a whole size smaller and is flawless. I am truly impressed with Jim’s work and will return again. Not only did he do an amazing job on my ring resize, but his attitude towards life and work are so neat that I found myself wanting to stay and keep chatting.
I am so happy he did it the same day I came in. I would recommend this to anyone needing a ring resize.

I can’t recommend this place highly enough. Don’t be fooled by the disarray in the workshop; Jim knows exactly what he’s doing.
I came in to get my antique 1930’s engagement ring repaired and resized, and 45 minutes later, Jim had shown me exactly how he did it – and I couldn’t have been more pleased with the results. And all for 25 bucks! I will keep coming back here for all my jewelry fixing/​altering needs. This guy is a pro, and super nice to boot.

I have been going to Cuggini Jewelers for over 25 years. Jim has designed many beautiful pieces of jewelry for me, more like pieces of art! He repaired my husbands’ watch, made his ring bigger and better, turned some old jewelry into new pieces and even bought some old gold I really didn’t want. I have trusted him with my mother’s 2 caret diamond ring and have recommended his little shop to many people. Jim is a jewel of a jeweler! My granddaughter now goes to him and he is making her engagement ring.

I have had Jim make up multiple pieces of jewelry over the years. I was directed to him by one of the other jeweler’s on «jewler’s row» because I was trying to get my mother’s old diamond necklace remade into an engagement ring for my then future wife. I walked into his very unassuming establishment, and he proceeded to take a modest group of diamonds and arrange them in a one of a kind, showstopping engagement ring — and I couldn’t believe the price. He has since made our wedding bands (I gave him carte blanche on mine, and it is very unique) an eternity band, and truly fascinating black pearl drop necklace with modest diamonds. Everything is handmade and one-​of-​a-​kind by a true artist, who charges wholesale prices. As long as Jim is in business, there is no reason to go elsewhere.

I still highly recommend this place. Went back to see Jim because my wedding band lost a diamond. Jim did a quick fix in two hours. I thought it would be ready on Monday because my husband brought it in on Sat. He even polish it and made it look pretty again. I am so glad we found this place.

Jim is the best! I took my mangled ring there after it had been «resized» at another jeweler. He walked me through the whole process, and I was able to sit next to him and watch every step as he fixed my ring. It looks beautiful now and the craftsmanship is excellent. I would go to him for any repair in the future.

Cuggini is on the corner of 7^th & Walnut; you have to walk up a flight (no coincidence) of stairs to get to the unpretentious shop where, if you need any jewelry repaired or rebuilt — especially a piece that is truly important to you — you will thank me that I directed you here.
The man doesn’t have to wear a shirt that says «honor» and «virtue» (but he actually has a shirt like that.)
If you are inspired to have jewelry created, I believe he does that as well. You will leave his shop inspired.
