A super chill west Philly bar, I went there for a Monday night Eagle’s game. It was a great mix of people with a good vibe. Lots of guys out watching the game, a few pairs of couples, some people geeking out about their fantasy football, the lone Giant’s fan. Drinks were cheap, staff was responsive, and all around a good experience I am likely to repeat many times.

So this place used to be Watusi II, and then it was New Tavern. I had the hellish experience of hosting karaōke at New Tavern(see my review here on Unilocal.) When I heard that less than a year later it had yet another new owner and name, I was reluctant to come back, but a colleague of mine was hosting karaōke Thursday night so I went over. I’m glad I did! Gone was the sketchy, somewhat violent crowd from my previous experience. Instead there was a diverse crowd relaxing and having a somewhat quiet time. The center square bar is gone and now there’s just a bar along one wall which makes it feel bigger. The back area is no longer torn up but instead finished with great lighting and seating. The staff was not just polite but fun, and prices on drinks were totally reasonable. I didn’t have occasion to eat any of the food. Highly recommend this new iteration and will definitely come back for karaōke again!

Great little bar in West Philly… good beer selection, cheap drinks, friendly staff… I’d give it five stars if they served food(though they have snacks for sale). A clean, unpretentious bar in this area of rest Philly was much needed and I’m glad its here.
