Some Like It Hot

My husband and I were walking on Locust and noticed some signs for «Marilyn’s special cheeseburger,» collard greens, and macaroni and cheese. Hmmm. What was this? We had to investigate.
Marvin is the chef at Some Like It Hot, a tiny food stand inside the bar that replaced Watutsi II. His chafing dishes and refrigerator take up a space near the back of the bar.
With nearly zero counter space, he prepared a chicken platter (2 wings and a thigh) and a fish platter (fish filet) accompanied by sides of macaroni and cheese, collard greens, cheesy cornbread, candied yams, and tuna pasta salad. The sides were on chafing dishes, and the fried goodies were prepared on the spot.
He even offered us his tasty potato salad with specks of pickles, green and red peppers, and small bits of egg, to enjoy while we waited.
It was a solid meal that offered variety and a taste of home cooking. The breading was light, crispy, and non-​greasy on both the fish and chicken, and were lightly seasoned. The collard greens were tasty and had slivers of pork (smoked, probably) amidst them. I was impressed by what he did given the small space, and am looking forward to going back!
